Anxious to hear DeWine presser at 2.

Me, too. Thanks for the time reminder, working remotely and on lots of conference calls, responding to emails, etc., can lose track of time.

New York City will bury coronavirus victims in public parks in 10-body trenches if the relentless death toll keeps climbing as officials warn the pandemic is like 'an ongoing 9/11' for medical examiners

New York City is planning on temporarily burying coronavirus victims in public parks | Daily Mail Online

I really hope and pray this can be avoided.

<snip> Mayor Bill de Blasio said no such plan had been put in place.

“If we need to do temporary burials to be able to tide us over to pass the crisis and then work with each family on their appropriate arrangements, we have the ability to do that,” he said when asked about Mr. Levine’s comment on Monday.

But he said the city was “not at the point that we’re going to go into that.”

In an interview on Monday, Mr. Levine, who represents Upper Manhattan, declined to name the park or parks that were under consideration but said, “I presume it would have to be a large park with some inaccessible areas that are out of the way of the public.”

Watch Now: Governor Cuomo Gives Coronavirus Update

That tweet was grossly irresponsible IMO esp that the councilman is Chair of New York City Council health committee

Two days from peaking? Wow
Good news for Ohio.

When will coronavirus peak in Ohio? New model projects fewer deaths

According to the latest projections, Ohio is two days away from its peak use of hospital resources. The IHME projects Ohio will only need 1,372 hospital beds and 262 ICU beds to care for COVID-19 patients. No shortage is projected by the IHME.

The IHME projects a peak of 29 deaths per day in Ohio between April 9 and April 12. A total of 544 deaths are projected by August 4.

I was so happy to read it, AND as @Tillicum pointed out, it will be interesting to hear what DeWine and Acton share at 2:00. Fingers crossed the messages are aligned and pointing in the same direction.

o_O Of course, I understand the desire to get out, but if there's one thing this pandemic has impressed upon me, it's that I will absolutely reduce my exposure to crowds and public venues going forward. Over the course of my life, I've been fortunate to travel to wonderful places, attend many rock concerts, Broadway and community theater, taken frequent day trips via public transit to NYC, and have regularly dined out with a large group of friends. I have no plans to return to any of these activities for a very long time, if ever. I still have a couple of hobbies that provide a social outlet and that I'll continue to pursue, but home is now where my heart is.

Cuomo now questioned re burying COVID bodies in NYC parks:

I have heard nothing, heard a lot of wild rumors, but I have NOT heard that...I talked to NYC yesterday and I have not heard that this is an issue

I just hope things are what they appear to be. Any good news gives naysayers more reason to not isolate. Let us know ASAP, please.

It’s not just deaths in hospitals which are up. On an average day before this crisis there were 20-25 deaths at home in NYC. Now in the midst of this pandemic the number is 200-215. *Every day*.

A typical hospital morgue might hold 15 bodies. Those are now all full. So OCME has sent out 80 refrigerated trailers to hospitals around the city. Each trailer can hold 100 bodies. These are now mostly full too. Some hospitals have had to add a 2nd or even a 3rd trailer.

It seems Acton trusts the other model more or at least she did a few days ago. The other model is definitely more grim.

Checkin in... Today is day 1 of distance learning for my teens, not a fun experience.

Wonder if people living in densely populated areas now will want to move to more rural areas when this over.
I'm "begging" my daughter to leave NYC....

Coronavirus: Dalek patrols streets ordering humans to 'self-isolate'

Coronavirus: Dalek patrols streets ordering humans to 'self-isolate'
One social media user quipped: "I'm not going to argue with a Dalek".

A Dalek has been spotted patrolling the streets of a small village and ordering "all humans to self-isolate".

In a video captured by amused residents, the Doctor Who villain passes through the deserted street while ordering people to comply with "the order of the Daleks".

Some thought the incident was some light relief, with one Twitter user writing: "Wildlife is finally returning to Britain's streets. Nature is healing."

"SELF-ISOLATE!! SELF-ISOLATE!!! SELF-ISOLATE!!!!" another wrote.

I find this attack by teens on an Asian woman disturbingly ignorant. But I imagine they hear their parents and others call it the “China virus” and speak disparagingly of China and by extension Chinese people. As the song from the musical ‘South Pacific” says of children “You’ve got to be taught to hate and fear...you’ve got to be taught to be afraid of people whose eyes are oddly made...you’ve got to be carefully taught.” Although some justify calling this the “China virus” because it originated in China, that unnecessary generality only serves to perpetuate fear and scapegoating toward any who look Asian as happened in this shameful incident. JMO, but I would hope that decent people would feel the same.

Teen girls were charged with hate crimes after police said they attacked a woman on a New York bus, made "anti-Asian statements" toward her and told her she caused coronavirus.

Police said the four suspects attacked the 51-year-old victim on an MTA bus in the Bronx. They called her a expletive, said she caused coronavirus and asked her why she wasn't wearing a mask, NYPD Lt. Thomas Antonetti told CNN.
One of the suspects struck the woman's head with an umbrella before all four of them fled the bus, police said.
