Apologies if this has already been posted/discussed. Just sent this to a friend:

If you scroll all the way to the bottom/end of the article (not the end of the page), in the last graph you can either choose which state you want to see or you just can see all of them in order of peak date. This model has [my state] peaking April 19 and it also shows deaths, daily deaths, and total projected deaths etc.

Coronavirus State-By-State Projections: When Will Each State Peak?

Here's the note at the end:

Note: This projection is current as of April 7, at 5 p.m. ET, and will be updated periodically as the modelers input new data. The visualization shows the day each state may reach its worst day for deaths between now and Aug. 4.
I'm totally perplexed as to how they came up with the numbers for my state. They make no sense at all to me.

A couple weeks old but I just saw it:

A global pandemic of this scale was inevitable. In recent years, hundreds of health experts have written books, white papers, and op-eds warning of the possibility. Bill Gates has been telling anyone who would listen, including the 18 million viewers of his TED Talk. In 2018, I wrote a story for The Atlantic arguing that America was not ready for the pandemic that would eventually come. In October, the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security war-gamed what might happen if a new coronavirus swept the globe. And then one did. Hypotheticals became reality. “What if?” became “Now what?”

I clicked on the link about the war game and it takes me to The Event 201 scenario | A pandemic tabletop exercise

(The original quote/story is at How the Pandemic Will End)

I’m late checking in today. Work has been busy this morning - something I am thankful for, that we are all working towards a positive outcome and looking forward to a time when things improve.
In the meantime, I have cancelled the electrician appointment I had booked for next week. I’ve stayed home for over three weeks now and I’m not risking my health for some cosmetic home improvements (shiny new sockets and switches, in case anyone is interested) that will wait until the lockdown is over.

Also, it occurred to me that I spend a lot of time looking down. At work, I’m gazing down at the laptop. With these feline maniacs trying to trip me up or leaving me little *gifts* to clean up, it’s in my own best interest to look down as I wander around my home. Even in the garden, I find myself looking down - for all the right reasons, after all I am mainly looking at the green shoots of hope that are popping up everywhere now that Spring is here.
Anyway, I mention this because as I was sitting in the garden with cats and coffee this morning, I swear I heard/felt something telling me ‘look up’. As I did, I realised the three cherry blossom trees beyond the fence, they are all in full bloom and they look more beautiful than I ever remember. So, that’s what I am grateful for today - natural beauty is all around us. Sometimes, we just need to remember to look up.

Stay safe today everyone ❤️

Did you have coronavirus without knowing? Scientists are developing tests to find out
[...]

As much as 25 percent of people infected with the coronavirus may never show any symptoms, CDC director Robert Redfield told NPR.

But symptomatic or not, viruses leave a mark. When they enter the body the immune system goes to war against it, developing antibodies specially designed to kill it. These antibodies hang around in the bloodstream even after the war is won, granting immunity to that illness if it’s encountered again.

[...]

Creating a widely available ‘serological’ test — a test determining if specific antibodies are present in the blood — is one way to find out if someone had previously contracted COVID-19.

The CDC is ramping up efforts to conduct this testing, according to Vox.

[...]

For the coronavirus to be spreading the way it is, Dr. Cameron R. Wolfe, an associate professor of medicine at Duke University, told McClatchy News there must be a larger group of people with little to no symptoms who are capable of transmitting it.

[...]

In a random sample of 1,000 people, Wolfe said blood tests will show how many have the “antibody memory of having seen the coronavirus before.” Then scientists can look at how many of those knew they had the coronavirus, a similar illness or showed no symptoms at all.

[...]

Scientists and public health experts need to know who was infected so they have a better understanding of what proportion of the population still needs to be vaccinated, Wolfe told McClatchy.

[...]
So if people are totally asymptomatic... how long do they actually "carry" the live disease cells? Will they ever be able to build a model that shows the cycle of live transmission during a asymptomatic case...

Thanks for asking :) I sent him some a little money and he tried Instacart yesterday but I don't think it will actually be delivered for a few days or maybe the weekend, apparently I accidentally deleted his texts with the info. It's so tempting to fly down there to be with him, he's stuck all alone in an apartment (apparently his roommate left) with no car, very little food and money, scared to go outside but losing his mind sitting in the apartment all day etc. He's feeling totally overwhelmed.
Good morning Mama. Have you looked at this site for possible help? As I go down through the page, it looks like there may be some avenues you can explore. If you need some help trying to weed through the resources, let me know.

Oh my, I wasn’t ready for that. I guess my eyes needed a little cleansing. Moving my body and swaying to the music now. I’ve got my coffee going and I’m ready to go out and tackle the day. Lookout sunshine, I’m aiming for ya. Let’s get it started. Thank you!

Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus, career-politician running 'China-centric' WHO | Daily Mail Online

"Dr Tedros - who has never practised as a medical doctor - is a career politician who was born in what is now Eritrea, studied in the UK, then rose to the top of Ethiopia's government first as Health Minister and then Foreign Minister before being elected to lead the WHO in 2017.

He is now facing heavy criticism over his handling of the pandemic, especially for praise he heaped on China's communist party for its response - hailing the regime's 'commitment to transparency' and saying the speed with which it detected the virus was 'beyond words'.

Nobody in the USA has gotten any of the promised money.
This is really bad.
I am fearful of angry people rioting. Especially in big cities.
No joke.
Where is the promised money?
I’m confused. I thought we were told that we might see some direct deposits as early as the 6th. It’s only the 8th.

I love Oprah so much. I’ve been waiting to hear from her. I’ve been thinking about her. I’d love to see her commercial if it’s online. Of course “she did it voluntarily” and “did the right thing”?? Love ya Kenzie but not sure what the insinuation is here...nobody’s holding a gun to her head I’m sure. Thank God she’s getting involved to help spread the word jmo.

My point was I hope she was honestly trying to get the word out and not trying to make easy money. Oprah grates on my nerves but I know she has a HUGE fan base and people will listen to her. Oprah does not need me as a fan and I generally ignore her but there are millions that love her and will listen.

I guess I am saying, I hope she did the commercial as a freebie to get the word out to the public.

Guys, the mods have added links to the other coronavirus threads (groceries, masks, stats, etc.) on page 1, post 1 (quoting post below). People tend to skip over the first few posts on new threads, but you really should look for changes and additions in each new thread.

A cloth mask can be washed and reused.
