“The CBD strain of cannabis that helped Charlotte Figi was named Charlotte’s Web in her honor, according to the Sun.

Paige Figi and the founders of the Charlotte’s Web product became advocates for legalizing CBD, the newspaper reported. The Charlotte’s Web Medical Hemp Act was passed by Congress in 2014.

“Your work is done Charlotte, the world is changed, and you can now rest knowing that you leave the world a better place,” the Realm of Caring Foundation wrote on Instagram.

In a Facebook post, the Charlotte’s Web team eulogized Charlotte.

“What began as her story, became the shared story of hundreds of thousands, and the inspiration of many millions more in the journey of their betterment,” the team wrote. “Charlotte was and will be, the heartbeat of our passion, and the conviction that the dignity and health of a human being is their right.””

I am so sorry for this young girl Charlotte.
So, so sorry.
RIP, sweet little angel.

New York-area coronavirus outbreak originated primarily in Europe, not China: report
1 hour ago

“Travelers likely carrying the virus had already been arriving in New York from Europe before Jan. 31, when President Trump limited entry by foreign nationals who’d been in China and March 11, when the president announced plans to block travelers from most parts of Europe, the Times reported.

On March 19, the newspaper reportedthat travelers arriving from Europe – where outbreaks in Italy and Spain were severe – were being asked at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport only if they had been to China or Iran, not if they had visited the hardest-hit nations in Europe.

“People were just oblivious,” Dr. Adriana Heguy of the NYU research team told the Times.”

BREAKING: CDC issues new guidance saying essential workers who have been exposed to COVID-19 can RETURN to work if showing no symptoms in first step towards reopening the U.S.
  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released new guidelines Wednesday night for essential workers who are exposed to COVID-19
  • Exposed critical workers can go back to work if they're asymptomatic
  • Previously all exposed workers were told to isolate for 14 days
  • They have to follow new guidelines including taking their temperature before work, wearing a face mask at all times, and practicing social distancing
  • Employers in essential industries are also being told to send sick workers home, take temperatures of employees and increase air exchange in buildings
  • Senate Democrats are now rallying behind these critical employees by calling for a 'Heroes Fund' to increase their pay by up to $25,000

Won't this spread the virus faster among the essential workers? If people are contagious before symptoms show then sending employees home only after they get a temperature is too late. So much for flattening the curve... :eek:o_O:confused:

MOO.

That might be what they did in China as well - sick health professionals sometimes dropped dead at work. As long as they have proper protection, they won't pass the virus to others.

The refrigerator trucks? For meals? Maybe for anticipated bodies?

Yes, both tests are needed if we want to plan anything ahead and relax the measures, that is how I understood the epidemiologists.

And contact tracing is the most important thing.

In my country, excellent results has been accomplished only by the means of contact tracing, without excessive testing.

We have only 19 deaths so far, in a country of 4 000 000 people.

I was always critical of our government, I can not believe I am actually proud of them now.
:)

Interesting. There are 4.3 million in my province and there are 29 deaths. The numbers are similar. When did people begin self-isolating where you are ?

While I am handling our country's lockdown pretty well, with just minor cabin fever, I'm finding it really hard to retrain myself to not touch my face. I suffer from allergies and wear spectacles, and I constantly touch my face everyday. This virus has made me even more aware of how much I do it. So of course I am washing my hands frequently to try to counteract it. Does anyone have any tips?

  • #867
Why not test the exposed workers first? Anyone testing positive should not go to work.o_Oo_O

I think that the real problem when it is time for everyone to go back to work, will be the people who have legitimate reasons to stay home. People who have lupus, pregnancy, whatever. So they will want to continue telework. Or people who just don't want to risk getting sick.

And everyone else who doesn't have some sort of doctor's note, will get worked piled on them. I already see this situation happening now.

U.K Government Coronavirus Safety Advert

View attachment 242391

I know it is going to be extremely hard not to go out this Easter weekend, I can’t see my Mum or family either and it is incredibly difficult. But please follow the NHS advice above - STAY HOME = PROTECT THE NHS = SAVE LIVES / Don’t risk putting your loved ones or friends in life threatening danger.
Agreed whole heartedly! Tonight was the first night of Passover for Jews. My family consider ourselves Secular Jews, meaning we're not religious but Passover has always been a time for us to gather and discuss traditions and of course eat some wonderful food!

My oldest daughter held the seder with her family as did my middle daughter. My youngest is in Japan. Usually if we can't get together we'll use FaceTime or Skype to make sure everyone is included. No one felt like doing that tonight.

Husband and I didn't bother making any of the Passover foods and instead he made mushroom spaghetti. Funny, Passover isn't all that big of a deal for us apart from a family get together but because I didn't have the choice of visiting my kids I missed it. My oldest makes the best brisket and I found myself feeling pissed that I couldn't be there with her and my granddaughters.

In fact, my country have learned it from the war we have had not so long ago.
The army is always at hand...

One of my daughters was in Bosnia in 2000 for a grade 12 UN trip. Were overflow areas/beds in place outside hospitals at that time too?

I’m so sorry Charlotte has died. I’m desperately sad about how many young people have died from this evil virus and that never got the chance to grow up. It’s just not fair at all. I have posted about Charlotte passing away in the memorial thread.

Deals to die for: Coronavirus-stricken Ruby Princess slashes its prices to a slew of exotic locations after more than 600 passengers contracted deadly infection on ill-fated cruise

Ruby Princess slashes its prices after 600 passengers contracted coronavirus | Daily Mail Online

Let me find my Visa card - NOT! Anyone booking a cruise after this tragic crisis is absolutely crazy.

Earlier this week, channel-surfing to find something to watch other than the news, I was so surprised to see one of the shopping channels still selling cruises! I was uneasy about the floating Petri dishes before all of this. Now? You couldn’t pay me to take a cruise.

MOO.

Hmmm.

Here is the full guidance from CDC:

“To ensure continuity of operations of essential functions, CDC advises that critical infrastructure workers may be permitted to continue work following potential exposure to COVID-19, provided they remain asymptomatic and additional precautions are implemented to protect them and the community.

A potential exposure means being a household contact or having close contact within 6 feet of an individual with confirmed or suspected COVID-19. The timeframe for having contact with an individual includes the period of time of 48 hours before the individual became symptomatic.

Critical Infrastructure workers who have had an exposure but remain asymptomatic should adhere to the following practices prior to and during their work shift:

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

My first thought is I’m recalling what Dr. Maria said a couple times about being clear about “asymptomatic” vs. “pre-symptomatic”. She discussed the percentage of those who do go on to experience symptoms. I have the numbers she mentioned in my mind but don’t want to quote as moo without full reference in context and link & quote.

So, I’m confused. 48 hours from time of exposure, not 14 days? Am I understanding this correctly?

CDC issues new guidance to make it easier for essential workers exposed to coronavirus to return to work

“In a first, small step toward reopening the country, the Trump administration issued new guidelines Wednesday to make it easier for essential workers who have been exposed to COVID-19 to get back to work if they do not have symptoms of the coronavirus.

Dr. Robert Redfield, director of the the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, announced at the White House that essential employees, such as health care and food supply workers, who have been within 6 feet of a confirmed or suspected case of the virus can return to work under certain circumstances if they are not experiencing symptoms.”

[...]

“Under the new guidelines for essential workers, the CDC recommends that exposed employees take their temperatures before their shifts, wear face masks and practice social distancing at work. They also are advised to stay home if they are ill, not share headsets or other objects used near the face and refrain from congregating in crowded break rooms.

Employers are asked to take exposed workers’ temperatures and assess symptoms before allowing them to return to work, aggressively clean work surfaces, send workers home if they get sick and increase air exchange in workplaces.”

Yale Professor: Changes to CDC Guidelines for Workers Should Wait

“”For the most part, if you’ve had the virus you’re not getting it again. So, someone who’s been infected is one of your safest employees,” said Dr. Howard Forman, director of the Healthcare Management program at Yale University.

But for those employees who were exposed but have no symptoms, Forman says there needs to be a number of systems in place before those guideline changes. He says there should be plans to prevent the possible spread or on-site sickness by an asymptomatic employee.”

[...]

He says without access to rapid tests, it could be dangerous to the progress we’re making under current CDC guidance.

“Right now the most important thing is to see capacity in our hospitals go all the way back down to normal before we do relaxing of social distancing measures at all.””

[...]

“It is so important to get our economy back going but we do not want to do it at the expense of human lives.”

——

I want to make sure I’m totally clear about all this and up to date on the everything before commenting on this.

Interesting. There are 4.3 million in my province and there are 29 deaths. The numbers are similar. When did people begin self-isolating where you are ?

First patient tested positive was on February 25th, the schools were closed on March 13th, as well as the museums, galleries, restaurants, stores, public transportation etc., and the
army started building tents.

Self- isolating measures started then, as well as prohibiting more than 5 people at the same place (excuse my poor verbal skill at the moment, I am very tired).

So over the years we have been putting off preparing a will, and over the last few weeks have thought that it might be a good idea to have that in place. Not just for the pandemic situation at hand, but to finally get it done.

So today I had some free time between work projects, and did some research and decided that I would check out "Free Will" online as it had some good reviews and also reviews stated that it is fairly straightforward and easy to use. And, of course, that it is free. Also has a link to review specific state-by-state requirements.

So I googled "Free Will" to find the website, and up came "Free Willy," different "Free Willy" links, over and over again.

We decided to watch that movie instead.

Australia has recorded a daily increase in new coronavirus infections below 100 for the first time in three weeks.

Health minister Greg Hunt on Thursday announced 96 new cases of the disease, the lowest infection rate since strict social distancing measures came into place.

6,104 people in Australia have contracted coronavirus, with 51 dead.

'This weekend there is good news for Australia, but there is a warning that we can either lock in the gains or lose those gains,' he told reporters in Canberra.

I freeze milk all of the time. You need to shake it well before using.
This!
The cream, fat layer is separating during the freezing process and is depending on the thawing method, this all needs to be joined as emulsion.

I'm training myself not to touch my face too. It's not easy as it sounds. When any part of my face itches, I use a facial tissue to scratch.

I think not. War in Bosnia was over in 1995. or 1996.

During the war there were not beds outside the hospitals nowhere, there would be too many victims, they were shooting and bombing all over.

I did not mean that- I meant that the countries here,
after the experience of war, are very quick and organized to respond to any threat.
One good thing you learn from the war.

Following the hint few posts before, i assume this is the right statistics
Croatia Coronavirus: 1,343 Cases and 19 Deaths - Worldometer
You are on a good way with those measures!
However i just think that the first infection is not directy impacting the death rate. As the statistics show the cases start climbing only late March, so i assume the next 2 weeks will show how the trend develops. Keeping all fingers crossed!
