I asked my GP a couple of months ago if it was in my file. She said no, they don’t spend money to check the type unless needed. She said if you give blood, though, they’ll tell you.

Thanks. I thought as much. I was passing any info on to my friend. She said her son is only 15 rightnow.

I’m sure they told me when I signed up to give bone marrow if needed, but I did not keep that info in my brain, unfortunately, and I am unable to give blood.

Your blood type is not of any help as a primary medical information.

All blood providers are required to do their blood typing on a validated specimen drawn in their facility before you receive any blood product, or give O negative if it is an extreme emergency.

This is good to know. Yes, O Negative is the universal donor, but in a crisis like this, supplies may be running low. Many more people are currently hospitalized while at the same time, fewer people are going out to donate blood.
I've always been told that with my blood type, getting the wrong blood type in a transfusion can set off a deadly reaction.
The IPhone Medical ID on the Health App has a space for blood type, so I filled it in. It can't hurt.

The new bread lines.

Sign of the times: Mile-long line of cars outside California grocery giveaway

Everyday just gets more and more depressing. These folks are lined up for food (not standing 6 feet apart, at least it looks that way but could be the camera angle).

Walmart, Costco, Target are banned from selling 'non-essential' items such as clothing and electronics in parts of the US | Markets Insider

I have decided that I have enough clothes. Why do I need more than 25 pairs of jeans, 50 pairs of shoes, etc.

It’s one of the biggest unanswered questions in the world at the moment. Once someone has had COVID-19, can they get it again? As with seemingly everything concerning the coronavirus pandemic, such as “masks, to wear or not to wear?” and “does hydroxychloroquine treat COVID-19?”, the answer is, unfortunately, not straightforward.
Can You Get Sick With Coronavirus Twice? The Jury Is Still Out (Forbes)
Thanks for posting this article. So, the bottom line is, we cannot even be assured that we will become immune after contracting a mild form of the virus. The 2nd time could be far worse

Thanks for clarifying there is a work around. Are there a lot of people owning cow shares in Canada ?

No, it's really not a thing that the dairy farmers do here. There's always a small fringe group of hobby farmers that might do it, but in order to keep their farms clean and disease free, the mainstream dairy farmers are very unlikely to allow random people to access their dairy barns.

Many dairy farmers even pasteurize their own milk for their family's consumption. There still is a collective memory of TB, and Brucellosis, so using raw milk is really an uncommon practice.

We often find out what people are made of during a crisis.

I’m holding onto the knowledge that many are more than passing this test.
The surgeon general just proved he has a soul and integrity, his brief talk at the presser was outstanding.

WARNING: HUMOR (A friend sent this to us; I hope no one is offended by it.)

• Half of us are going to come out of this quarantine as amazing cooks. The other half will come out with a drinking problem.
• I used to spin that toilet paper like I was on Wheel of Fortune. Now I turn it like I'm cracking a safe.
• I need to practice social-distancing from the refrigerator.
• Still haven't decided where to go for Easter ----- The Living Room or TheBedroom
• PSA: every few days try your jeans on just to make sure they fit. Pajamas will have you believe all is well in the kingdom.
• Homeschooling is going well. 2 students suspended for fighting and 1 teacher fired for drinking on the job.
• I don't think anyone expected that when we changed the clocks we'd go from Standard Time to the Twilight Zone
• This morning I saw a neighbor talking to her cat. It was obvious she thought her cat understood her. I came into my house, told my dog..... we laughed a lot.
• So, after this quarantine.....will the producers of My 600 Pound Life just find me or do I find them?
• Quarantine Day 5: Went to this restaurant called THE KITCHEN. You have to gather all the ingredients and make your own meal. I have no clue how this place is still in business.
• My body has absorbed so much soap and disinfectant lately that when I pee it cleans the toilet.
• Day 5 of Homeschooling: One of these little monsters called in a bomb threat.
• I'm so excited --- it's time to take out the garbage. What should I wear?
• I hope the weather is good tomorrow for my trip to Puerto Backyarda. I'm getting tired of Los Livingroom.
• Classified Ad: Single man with toilet paper seeks woman with hand sanitizer for good clean fun.
• Day 6 of Homeschooling: My child just said "I hope I don't have the same teacher next year".... I'm offended.
• Better 6 feet apart than 6 feet under
LOVED this. Thank you for sharing with us. No offense at all. IMO. We all need a laugh.

BLOOD TYPE: A B AB O
You can order an Eldoncard from Amazon. I've seen kits of 1,3 and 5 for additional family members.
We used them back in the day in biology. Takes 4 drops of blood.
~$11- $40 depending on how many tou order.
I do not think it gives you the rH factor though.
At least it didn't 100 years ago! Lol

Ammon Bundy vows to defy stay-at-home orders for Easter gathering - CNN
(CNN)Ammon Bundy, the rancher who led an armed occupation of a federal wildlife refuge in Oregon, said he plans on holding an Easter gathering despite stay-at-home orders implemented during the coronavirus pandemic.

Bundy told CNN he wants to gather several hundred people in Idaho at a yet-to-be-announced location. He said he believes it's his constitutional right to assemble, even as state and local officials urge people to socially distance to avoid spreading the virus further.
"Our goal is to get enough people together and secure our rights... we are not trying to provoke, we want people to be able to worship," Bundy said in a phone interview.
His people can check in .......but they can’t check out.

I’ve heard that somewhere before ?

I admit I have concerns about this.

Older people who stayed home to avoid the virus will not be able to get an immunity card. It's like being punished for doing the right thing - and it's a "legit" way to discriminate against older people because they are not immune.

I also worry that people will purposely try to get the virus so that they can get an immunity card, taking a risk that could kill them (or spread to others while they are infected).

I am uneasy about the idea of this card, but perhaps it's a reality we need to accept and my fears are unwarranted. ? IDK.

So, an immunity card from Phase One of this awful virus, but we are being told a person can get a repeat. How's a card going to work with that?

China discussions about misleading stats? What about our own counts? Stay at home deaths possibly not counted? Military - accurate? Totals change within a day? I'm not certain we know the true US cases or death counts.

In S Korea ppl are getting it a second time. Doc on msnbc reporting that about 2 hours ago.

Are they saying if you get the virus mildly, that you cannot get it again? Just been listening to Trump, saying those are the lucky ones.
No clear answer on that. Yet. Follow the Science for those answers down the road. IMO

I'm not sure - this is only a guess:

The people getting it the second time might not have been tested for antibodies. They may have been given the test for the virus and tested negative, but then either got the virus again or that negative was incorrect.

But I don't know if they were given an ANTIBODY test, which is different than a test for the virus.

Again, this is my non-medical-person guess. There are two tests: One that tests if you have the virus and another type of test that tests if you have antibodies to the virus (which means you won't catch it again).

I think.

My hubby has O negative blood that is free of cytomegalovirus (CMV). His blood can be given to babies, even those in utero. He gives blood as often as he can.

He has an appointment to give blood soon. I'm very worried about this. He will have to go to the Red Cross facility (in a different county) to do it. He will wear a mask, and the facility is taking precautions, but I'm still quite concerned because he's in his mid-70s and has heart disease, including a prosthetic heart valve.
