Can you imagine being blind from age 12, and developing a career and voice like that. Well there are a couple of others I can think of too, in the USA. The concert was too short, but it couldn't be long enough anyway. He has a lot of music on youtube.

I kind of lost it with Amazing Grace, felt the same as when Obama sang it at the AME church after that massacre.

I am sooo glad you posted the reminder. Thank you.

how do they do radiation at home? I was scanned through a huge machine

Either she is receiving a radiophamaceutial like Iodine (I-131), or the story is wrong and the patient is receiving chemotherapy, not radiation therapy.

Ok, so y’all told me I could freeze my milk and let it thaw in the fridge. It’s been in the fridge 3 days now and is still full of ice. How long is this going to take?

Psst .. secret. I leave mine on the counter overnight and there is still ice in the morning.

I was thinking today of my plants in my office at work. I gave them a good watering on my last day at the office before leaving to work remotely, but that was March 12th.

Oh, oh dear. I think I hear a bell tolling for your plants. :/

It sounds to me that she actually came out and met this woman who delivered groceries. She says she didn't touch her, but that suggest that there was some sort of non physical contact, such as she either came out or let the woman in to bring groceries. So if you go for delivery, use no contact delivery, where delivery person leaves grocery under the door and leaves.

Yes, I was thinking the woman who delivered the groceries might have brought them into the house and put them on the kitchen table, where the ladies talked for a few minutes.

O/T - I started cutting my own hair on the sides
and in front and let my wife do the back. It wasnt bad until after many weeks of doing that, I lost all the layering it had and ended up looking like Moe in the 3 stooges. In fact I sort of looked like this person from one of the cases here on WS who also obviously did home haircuts.

Perris torture defendant David Turpin charged with 8 counts of perjury – Press Enterprise

That's a mental picture and a half, all right :D

I think there are ways around that, though I've only done long layers so can't teach the method. Search YouTube for some tutorials. :)

Thanks, glad to know how it works now. If there aren't payroll deductions for health care, how do you pay for it - in other taxes such as income tax or in provincial or federal taxes or other? Curious.

Yes, you are correct, through income tax, sales tax, and corporate tax, just the same way that roads and any other federal and provincial things are paid.

When I was little we didn't have homogenized milk, the cream would rise to the top, and if the milk was left on the step in freezing weather the cap would push up off the bottle at an angle as the milk expanded and froze.

What a wonderful picture! Thanks for sharing that memory.

Thanks for the tip.

I did learn not to try layering myself with an electric dog trimmer. LOL Those things will make chunks of hair disappear before you know it. LOL :)

Anything is less risky than going to the store moo. If they leave the items at the door and if you can let some sit and meticulously clean the items that’s waaaay better than going to the store. Not even a question moo.

I have a full system. Took me a few hours.

I leave all delivered food in the garage for a minimum of 3 days. I wash frozen food with water and soap on the front step for 5 minutes, then put it in the freezer.

I became aware very early on because virology and epidemiology has always been a hobby of mine. I have read every book I could get my hands on over the years, even The Coming Plague, which the footnotes are practically a whole book in themselves! I follow an avian flu forum and alarm bells went off on there sometime in early Feb.
I remember going to Aldi in early Feb and filling my cart to the brim with canned goods, dried goods, paper goods....I felt a bit silly and kept telling myself...oh I will use this up this summer if it turns out to be nothing.
Over the course of a week, I had shelves built in my extra bedroom, turned it into a huge pantry...shopped some more, went to a paint store and bought a box of N95s, so many on the shelf at that time and goggles...bought two HUGE bottles of hand sanitizer and lots of Lysol, Clorox, wipes...all the time telling myself...I'll use the masks for spray painting if I dont need them otherwise...I'll use everything eventually I kept saying as I kept buying.
I kept up the supply runs quietly, not telling anyone, except my son - who is a wait and see guy so I knew he wouldn't do much at that time...up until the last day I stepped foot in a store which was March 13.
I felt pretty prepared, never really thought it would come to this but so glad I did what I did. I remember the last purchase I made in the store was 2 big packs of toilet paper and 2 big packs of paper towels...I already had plenty at home, but they were on sale that day only, and I couldn't pass up the price...Little did I know how scarce those items would become!!

Remember the “Flowbees”? :D

My dad actually ordered one for all the women in the house bc he said it would be a good way to reduce all of our “beauty costs” lol. None of us used it hahahaha and it’s still a family joke to this day.

Funny you mentioned the hair thing. I’m going to just do a straight cut on the bottom to trim the ends.

Funny I may emerge from this skinny with long hair. I often sport wild styles like Mohawks and funky colors. :) I am often a guinea pig at the salon so usually they experiment on me which I don’t mind at all.

I’m getting too old to sport a rainbow Mohawk anyway o_O

Do any of you remember the date when you personally became aware of this virus, at first vaguely in the news, and not yet in your area?

In So. California, I know I was already aware of the virus but as only a distant threat.

On Jan. 23--I saw a disgusting video of a woman eating Bat Soup and mentioned it in an email.

On Feb. 9-- around the Chinese New Year celebration here, I got on an elevator after a bunch of Chinese people got off on their way to the celebration, and it crossed my mind. I was hearing things and beginning to worry.

By Feb. 14th-- I was starting to feel cautious. I went to a gathering and it crossed my mind again.

By Feb 22nd-- I wondered if it was safe to babysit my granddaughter.

By March 3rd-- I finally was convinced I should be careful, but I never imagined this full-blown Pandemic. Still seems unreal.

When did you become aware of something happening elsewhere and then in your backyard?

I starting hearing/reading about the virus early Jan, thanks to some scientific friends. Found the thread around Jan 20th, first post 2/3/20.

I thought of the greeting card business, they must be really hurting. Who is going to buy a greeting card in a store?? I sent out leftover Christmas cards for Easter. I just added a few words. Crazy, i know. I guess people are using E-cards.

Expecting tornado weather in my neck of the woods today.

We are definitely having April Showers.

8 Ways to Use Dryer Lint in Your Backyard and Garden

I do save dryer lint as fire starters for the fire pit, but I never knew all the uses. Thanks!

When this is over, I will emerge probably 20 pound heavier and looking like Cousin It.

I have eaten my weight in Chips, Cheez Its and Ice cream. Never get tired of them.

So my grocery delivery finally arrived and I’m sooo grateful. I tipped the worker a LOT of money.

It seems there were minimal canned goods. The instacart worker did his best to pick replacements so I’d have soooomething. Unfortunately all that was left were Progresso soups and they have modified corn starch in them. I’ve avoided that “like the plague” for years. Better than nothing!

Be safe Kensie! A slight increased risk here also in NE TN, I just brought everything loose from porches indoors. Seriously didn't think I had that much outside this early, but found out differently.

I work for a greeting card company. We are currently furloughed. The few stores I've been in I've noticed Easter cards were selling. It's going to be a crazy mess getting things back in shape lol.
