secretly? how would that be possible?
When she was asleep in bed they could have done it, so she would have to stay in her room and not trundle around infecting everyone. Or hide the charger.

No, You Don't Need To Disinfect Your Groceries. But Here's How To Shop Safely
(good article, IMO, on npr.org)

Excerpts:
"Many of us are still venturing out to stock up on food and toiletries. But what's the safest way to shop during this pandemic? And what should you do once you've brought your haul home?

We asked infectious disease, virology and food safety experts to share their tips about safe grocery shopping — and what you can stop worrying about.

Many people worry about the possibility of picking up the coronavirus from things like grocery store conveyor belts or cereal boxes. But every expert NPR spoke with agrees that the biggest risk when it comes to groceries is being inside the store itself with other people who may be infected."

"...Many shoppers are now following elaborate routines to disinfect their groceries, thanks to a viral video put out by a Michigan family doctor. But all of the experts we spoke with say that disinfecting and hand-washing every last item in your grocery haul is really not necessary. You might find it comforting to know that none of these experts are doing this themselves.

Rasmussen explains that the probability of getting infected from a contaminated surface is not zero, but it is fairly low. That's because respiratory droplets would have to have landed on the exact spot on, say, a box of cereal that you are touching. And even then, you'd have to get enough residual virus on your hand to start an infection — and you'd have to transfer that virus to your face."

oh wow that would make life easier for sure

Dang I broke a crown on a tooth I had a root canal done on. I have this nice gaping hole. I'm afraid if I don't call the dentist asap my crown will not fit anymore. What to do...What to do.
You can get a repair kit with some adhesive at the pharmacy. I have had to do that before.

Winona County's Health and Human Services Department does list among its COVID-19 patients a person who is 104 years old.

Sara Blair, administrator at Sauer Health Care, did verify that they had a resident who is 104, had contracted the virus and is now recovered.

"The Sauer home did a fantastic job taking care of these people," Mueller said, adding that he understands the home has had more than one person with the virus. "We never had to worry. They were doing their very best."

As for her place in the record books, Mueller said his mother is about a week older than an Oregon man, Bill Lapschies, who also is 104 but who, according to news reports, celebrated his birthday on April 1. Several news outlets also reported that a Dutch woman, Cornelia Ras, might be the oldest survivor of the disease in the world at age 107.

Omg you’re right!!!! I was just preaching about not taking risks... holy smokes. I usually ask my friends to help with those things, hold the ladder, etc. That was dumb of me.

Thank youuu.

Yeah I better not do the skylights.

Glad I saw this!

WS saves the day!

ETA: Gosh what was I thinking?! I got a little overinspired there.

It seems Andre Brocelli created and fulfilled that important need for “inspiration”.

Apparently the only other increase in case load at hospitals apart from coronavirus are home DIY accidents.

I actually remembered I had a vegan pancake mix and thought wow that'd be perfect for dinner. Went to look. Turns out it expired a year ago. Oops. No pancakes for us.

Well, hopefully there’s never another pandemic, but if there is, knock on wood, we’ll know to put pancakes on the list.

IMO this cannot be true. I'm a heavy (3 packs a day) smoker. I have emphysema and am quite aware that this self-inflicted disease has thrust me into the "highly vulnerable" category for a fatal outcome, should I contract the virus.
I've seen studies that say smokers are 14x more likely to die than non-smokers, due to our already compromised lungs. I don't have the source handy but can google it if required by WS.
I'm 62, but my doctor has told me that my lung capacity is the equivalent of someone aged 82. Therefore it wouldn't take much for Covid to take me down.
Yes, I know the hypocrisy and cognitive dissonance projected by my assiduous attempts to avoid the Coronavirus, while continuing to smoke three packs a day. I can't defend it in any sensible way, except that for smoking, I choose to take the risk. Corona seems more villainous because it feels like it suddenly yanks someone from healthy to the grave.
As a postscript, a pack of cigarettes costs $14 in NYC. I avoid thinking about the math.

ETA I attached a screenshot from WEbMD. I couldn't get the link to copy correctly.
Agree with you, don't think it could possibly be true either. I am a smoker as well, and also aware I'm at high risk should I contract the virus, yet, I carry on smoking...

Me to. Our neighbour has an additional car there so that means visitors.

Doesn't seem like anyone wants to confront those who aren't paying attention. The bigger question is WHY won't they?

well confronting may not be the best idea ... could lead to violence
calling the snitch line is a better option

I’m quite accident prone. @anneg saved me, not even kidding. I’m still thinking about that. It scares me to even think “what if”? (Speaking of, where are you @What if... , and @Tadpole12 and @Medstudies and a lot of other people I haven’t seen in a while.)

Yeah I have NO business changing skylights out. None. They’re really high. What was I even thinking.

So, we can put that on the list. Be careful at home as we attempt home projects bc the last place we want to end up is the ER.

Well done @anneg ! Thank you again.

It sounds to me that she actually came out and met this woman who delivered groceries. She says she didn't touch her, but that suggest that there was some sort of non physical contact, such as she either came out or let the woman in to bring groceries. So if you go for delivery, use no contact delivery, where delivery person leaves grocery under the door and leaves.
I finally managed to get a slot for 8 days from now. It took me two weeks to get a slot.

Around here everyone is having that same issue. I was up at 2am and was lucky!

Has anyone ever watched the shopper as they go through the store?

Three months ago I made the comment to hub that I would never use that service after what we observed. We trailed a bit to watch.

They didn’t just pick up produce and put it in the big shelved rolling cart - handled several bunches, weighing and put back in.

People were touching the cart with their arms/sleeves since it was blocking the aisle.

It’s open on all sides. People standing right beside it. One moved it to get what they needed. I was surprised.

The perishable items were just riding around - you would think those would be the last items picked.

Touched her hair multiple times since her hair was falling around her face.

Are they wearing masks while they do this?

Honey baked ham with brown sugar glaze, funeral potatoes and glazed baby carrots here. Along with home made peanut butter cookies for dessert.

Call your dentist! They will see you for this and it will only take a few seconds (they'll be all masked and gloved!) They're reserving their supplies and services exactly for this situation. If your dentist isn't doing that, get a new dentist right away.

There is stuff you can get on amazon to glue it yourself and I once attempted it (it was not a good idea, I should have asked someone to help, ha). Fortunately, my dentist made 10 minutes for me to see her (I was leaving on international travel the next day).

I don't know. Maybe it was outpatient at a clinic and she returned home? I just know she is no longer in the hospital for the treatment.

I will ask my DIL later for clarity.

oh yes mine was outpatient
I went everyday for 25 days (excluding weekends)

I’ve already had a couple, um small accidents...more on those maybe later. I’m okay but let’s just say there is a lot of broken glass which I’m still working on.

You are most welcome! Broken glass?? ... I confess I had a fall back in February when I was scraping ice off the steps from the back porch to the patio. Just 2 steps, so I didn't fall that far, but did some damage to knee, hand, and side of head. It was really stupid of me to do it. In fact I was saying to myself "you shouldn't be doing this"! Why didn't I listen?

Nice :)

I was fortunate to get a ham but it’s from the company that had a big CV break out ahahahaha lmao. The instacart shopper chose it bless his heart. He could’ve just refunded my request but he did his best to get stuff and I appreciate that a lot.

It’s funny bc I actually called the store in advance about a different company, JSB, the one that’s had MAJOR issues. They said if there was a risk there would’ve been a recall. They didn’t quite know if JSB was a supplier of theirs or not but it says on the JSB website that they are.

Lol edited the part out about the broken glass bc I didn’t want to get too off topic.

Random thought. There sure is less laundry around here. o_O
