This happened to me about 3 weeks ago! My dentist's office is closed so I have been living with the hole. Hasn't been too bad, actually.
FWIW Several years ago I had just returned from an overseas trip, then cracked a tooth. I asked the dentist what to do if this happened while overseas (I traveled a lot). He told me to chew a piece of sugarless gum and stick it in the spot. Never had to do it fortunately but always carry sugarless gum with me.

my husband has a severe cavity or two
his throat/neck/jawline is swollen
the dentist ordered antibiotics for him and said they will call them when they have a day for emergencies
it's been a week
I thought the whole point of emergency is that you don't wait
at least the antibiotics have helped the pain somewhat lesson
This sounds horrible! I am so sorry for him. I hope he gets help soon.

I had one dentist refuse to fit me in for TWO WEEKS when I cracked a tooth. I ended up losing it. Next dentist said it could have been saved. I was told by Dentist #1 that he did in fact treat me as an emergency (!) Got a great new dentist. That guy didn't stay in business all that long in our town.

My dentist is doing ONLY emergencies right now (she's not an insurance-grabbing dentist, she's a true professional). And she is able to take care of all emergencies within 24 hours (again, kept her practice at a reasonable size).

Fauci attempts to clarify comments about Trump "pushback" on mitigation against coronavirus

[...]

"I had an interview yesterday where I was asked a hypothetical question. And hypothetical questions sometimes can get you into some difficulty because it's what would have or could have. The nature of the hypothetical question was if in fact we had mitigated earlier, could lives have been saved? And the answer to the question, as I always do and I'm doing right now, is yes," Fauci said. "I mean obviously, mitigation helps. ..."

All patients coming to Seattle's largest hospitals will be tested for coronavirus

[...]

“As we learn more about some individuals having a positive test without symptoms, we want to know the status of every patient in our hospitals so that our clinicians and staff can safely care for them," the facilities said in a statement.

The facilities said most of the tests can now be examined on-site by UW Medicine, with results the same day.

Trump says he will ask for a delay to the 2020 census

[...]

“During this difficult time we’re also working to ensure that the 2020 Census is completed safely and accurately. We may be asking for an extension because obviously they can't be doing very much right now. They wouldn't even be allowed to do it. So the Census, we are going to be asking for a delay, a major delay,” Trump said.

Louisiana governor will close schools for remainder of academic year due to coronavirus

[...]

“It is my intention now that to announce that school will not resume, in the sense that the students are going to be going to the school building. Education will continue. Have you had an antibody test?

Has anyone had an antibody test? They aren't rolling out yet. AFAIK, unless you're at a university hospital (or outside of North America - perhaps in South Korea) there are no antibody tests widely available.

A person who tests negative for live virus isn't going to get one of the rare antibody kits - medical personnel and other essential workers must have them. Teachers need to have them before they can go back into the classroom.

But we still don't have them in California. I read this morning that they US buying them (from India, I think) but they haven't arrived yet.

California is supposed to try and produce its own, we shall see. It's essential if we are going to reopen the economy.

BBM:

Whaaat? Did this actually happen? 1000 in attendance? Googling:

'God will shield us from all harm and sickness:' Louisiana pastor expects 2,000 to attend his Easter service

Pastor Tony Spell Opens Baton Rouge Church for 1,300 on Easter
22 hours ago

If this happened I’m going to be so furious I can’t even tell you.

I’m struggling with some “religious folks” including one of my own best friends and we just had a huge argument over it.

We are clashing over “religion” and science.

Do we have a reliable link that this Easter Service happened? I’m too angry to google.

Will this turn out to be a Daegu-like cluster? Omg.

This person needs to be tasered by cops in hazmat suits and thrown in solitary jail and they need to file all kinds of charges and shut that church down!!!!!!!!! Endangering public safety!!!

I’m sick of this BS!

It's been on many MSM news sources today. It happened. IIRC, the participants were cited. But the virus certainly got a great chance to overburden poor Louisiana even further.

The participants are asserting their Constitutional rights and I doubt many will pay those fines.

hmmm, I love to bake and can really make a mean pie. About 100 houses in my little neighborhood, a new means of income! That would be a nice boost to my bank account.
Don't sell too many or advertise much. Before you know it, burocracy will find you need a health inspection and probably $ permit.

Go for it SA55! Send Tons of best wishes for you.
For now, I have a severe craving for Fig Newtons. Amazon Fresh says out of stock. Suggested Organic Oil-Free Fig Balsamic dressing instead. That won't do.

probably the best news for my state (Victoria) in awhile

1118 people have recovered
only just over 200 active cases of covid-19 in the entire state
daily infections dropping over the weekend we had between 5 and 10 cases per day at the start it was 50 per day

so our isolation methods are working thank god

PS - prayers for the entire south of the usa, those violent tornadoes including 2 EF3's at night around 3am were just devestating

An EXCELLENT World Health Organization presser to explain much today. MOO I was listening while working in the yard - transcript will be up tomorrow. In the first 3-20 threads we posted daily and that is how MANY of us knew what was to come, and what is going on behind the scenes. This today is one of those... as are most for those that don't follow.

MOO

The birthing room is a thing that started in the 1980s. It sounds comfortable, but when it comes to delivery in a hospital, intervention is often used even though it isn't necessary. Women seem to prefer a comfortable birth over a managed birth. Midwives would be a good thing, especially to protect birthing women during pandemic.

Hospitals are the most dangerous place for a new infant at this time.

I delivered my first child in a birthing room in 1980. the next 2, one wasn't available.

What an ordeal for that guy. 28 days total in hospital with the virus and 20 days in a coma on a ventilator. Now he is released. But he still has the virus. Can anyone explain how he still has the virus and can infect people?

Also, I notice it says all patients at that hospital in ICU with the virus get hydroxychloroquine and azithyromycin. Plus he was put on anti coagulants. Very interesting. They also mention the blood clots in lungs, toes (mentioned as like chilblains before) and retinas.

No one can explain the prolonged activity of this virus in some people. There are many theories. Even China is now reporting that people who were sent home after a negative live virus test and a positive for antibodies are testing positive again - sometimes for just a day or two. This may be an artifact of throat swabs, where the virus can linger around doing its thing (but without making the patient sick a second time - patient could still transmit to others, obviously).

Other people think the tests aren't all being run accurately.

The combo of Zpac with Chloroquine is being questioned many places, but it sounds like younger patients are doing well with it (it's correlated with heart issues in older people, over 60).

I hope we never lose sight of how ill this virus makes people, even if they end up in the "recovered" column.

in this case the practice is small enough that the receptionist said she will call when they have enough app't s to fill a day

<modsnip: Quoted post was removed due to no links>

I can't speak for other states but Ohio is counting probable cases and probable deaths with their confirmed cases and confirmed deaths, going by CDC guidelines.
