Stopped at Home Depot today. Mostly male clintel. Could count on one hand the number of individuals wearing masks. Employees not wearing them either. Why do grocery store employees wear them but not HD?
It'll never happen to me syndrome again?

I bet that Department of Homeland Security report makes for an interesting read.
U.S. officials believe China downplayed coronavirus to stock up on supplies: report
"The analysis states that, while downplaying the severity of the coronavirus, China increased imports and decreased exports of medical supplies. It attempted to cover up doing so by “denying there were export restrictions and obfuscating and delaying provision of its trade data,” the analysis states.

The report also says China held off informing the World Health Organization that the coronavirus “was a contagion” for much of January so it could order medical supplies from abroad — and that its imports of face masks and surgical gowns and gloves increased sharply."

What percent have opted in to contact tracing in Victoria at this time? I think it's a good idea for today and the next 2 years. Most countries are introducing it, and it is for the benefit of those who are unknowingly exposed.

I understand all the arguments against TraceTogether apps, but opting in does not mean opting in forever. As soon as people register a new/future cell phone ID, virus tracing ends. If cell phone ID is attached to user name and consent to use "I agree" in a government database, people are hooped into 1984 big brother.

ETA: where to quarantine was a real problem in mid-March. Relieved to hear that all countries are filling that loophole with hotels.

the entire of Australia is doing contact tracing through an app our government has released, something like 5 million people have signed up so far

i dont have any figures for my state alone as its app store based, and the government hasn't turned the app on yet they are just wanted people to install and register for this friday when it gets turned on, they need a critical mass number in order for restrictions to be relaxed so contact tracing can happen on the fly

England hospital death toll rises by 204

It brings the total number of patient deaths linked to Covid-19 in England to 21,384, the NHS said.

Meanwhile, a further five deaths have been reported in Scotland, taking the total there to 1,571.

Excellent article on CV model forecasts by the always excellent FiveThirtyEight.

One of their more sober tasks is predicting the number of Americans who will die due to COVID-19. FiveThirtyEight — with the help of the Reich Labat the University of Massachusetts Amherst — has assembled six models published by infectious disease researchers to illustrate possible trajectories of the pandemic’s death toll. In doing so, we hope to make them more accessible, as well as highlight how the assumptions underlying the models can lead to vastly different estimates. Here are the models’ U.S. fatality projections for the coming weeks.

The biggest point I see is that some models don't not show a significant drop in the U.S. death over the next month.

Greg Abbott on Twitter

GREAT NEWS: The number of Texans who have RECOVERED from #COVID19 now exceeds the number of active COVID cases for the past 2 days. That’s exactly what we want to see. Texas ranks 3rd highest among states for number of people who have recovered from #coronavirus. #txlege

Lowe's was packed Sunday - families, etc - not a lot of masks - employees had shields for check out and wearing gloves - some had masks.

From AZ State Rep. Michelle Ugenti-Rita this morning on FB:

Hello Friends,
I wanted to give you a quick update. I’m hearing the governor will be holding a press conference today to address the overwhelming opposition regarding his decision to keep Arizona closed and extend his Stay At Home Executive Order. I do not know what the governor will say. I hope he announces significant and meaningful changes. In the meantime I am drafting language to introduce the concurrent resolution to repeal the emergency declaration. At this point things are very fluid and are changing almost by the hour. I think it’s important to keep you all up-to-date and when I know something I will let you know.

Stay strong everyone,
Michelle

I went to the hardware store last week briefly. Not one person other than me was wearing a mask. The next day I made my once-every-three-weeks grocery trip. Fully 80% were wearing masks. Go figure.
