I know that some people found the forum too depressing and felt like being inundated with constant news was adding to their anxiety. Some have just taken a break because of that.

I didn't start following real early but I went back to work.

There are only a couple of small paragraphs here... is there some secret way to open a larger article????? I can probably just go exploring... I continue to watch Sweden as a very unique approach... time will tell.
There is a 3 minute video in the article.

Yesterday's WHO Press briefing

https://www.who.int/docs/default-so...ess-conference-11may2020.pdf?sfvrsn=4f78bd0_0

I have previously outlined the six criteria countries need to consider before lifting stay-at-home orders and other restrictions. Over the weekend further guidance was published that outlines the three key questions countries should ask prior to lifting of lock-downs.

First, is the epidemic under control? Second, is the healthcare system able to cope with a resurgence of cases that may arise after relaxing certain measures? Third, is the public health surveillance system able to detect and manage the cases and their contacts and identify a resurgence of cases These three questions can help determine whether lock-down can be relaxed slowly or not.

Until there is a vaccine the comprehensive package of measures is our most effective set of tools to tackle the virus. In this vein new guidance was released over the weekend regarding both schools and workplaces reopening.

Last week I also spoke to the International Labour Organization, ILO, and the International Organisation of Employees, IOE, about the reopening of workplaces and how to do this safely. Over the weekend WHO issued details new workplace guidelines which recommended all places of work carry out a risk assessment for workers' potential exposure to COVID-19.

NOTE: I couldn't navigate to the WHO site to find any of the mentioned releases he said happened over the weekend.

Ugh. Cringe. All I can see in this picture is that restaurant seating chart graphic (posted here numerous times) that shows how people were infected
(and of course the two social non-distancers right up front o_O)

He's joking. :)

I'm joking about wanting to go on a cruise and crossing the border to go to a garden centre. It's how I am coping with lockdown. It's good to dream about such things though, if that is what people wish to do, I guess. I must say although I want everything to reopen, I may not be gleefully rushing out anywhere for a couple of weeks. Let the others test the waters first. (Another Jaws analogy ? )
Hi, tresir..... No, I was not joking. I will not participate in any "Contact Tracing" ever.... My free will choice and I am not alone in feeling this way around the USA....Yall participate in "Contact Tracing" if you wish....Let 'em catch me if they can.......:).......moo

WOW. This number doubled overnight.
That's the issue right there. People come out of sheltering in place, and run to some crowded club, restaurant, store, etc, not wearing any masks, as if virus was gone. Well, it's not gone.

Yesterday was an errand running day and tomorrow will be the same. Sigh. I dread those days.

We had to go to the bank yesterday (drive thru only of course). My husband about fainted when the bank teller wiped her nose with her hand and then used that hand to put the deposit slip in the envelope and hand it back to him.

We also delivered some supplies to the homeless shelter--shelf stable things. We were just the go between. A friend sent the supplies to us and asked us to give to those in need. Anyway, I was pleased that the three people that helped me unload the boxes all had gloves and masks on. I used my last remaining pair of gloves. Going to search the internet today to see if I can find some more.

Were you hoping for the negative? I'd like to take one and love it if I receive a positive result, since that would mean I got through the infection alright.
I actually had mixed feelings about it. I had cold symptoms and a cough back in early February, lately I had been wondering if it could have been COVID.

I have been furloughed since March 22, and have been extremely careful. I order groceries for pickup instead of going into the stores. I do go into Fresh Thyme occasionally during their special shopping hours that they reserve for emergency medical personnel and law enforcement. Last week when I went there I was literally the only customer in the entire store. I was wearing an N-95 mask and gloves, and all their employees are required to wear masks.

I also pick up grocery orders for an elderly couple and delivery them to their home. They haven’t been outside at all since the start of COVID. I am the only person they have contact with. It was at their request that I got the COVID test, and they paid for it.

I have gloves. When I have to go into a store (that is very seldom) I wear a mask and two bread sacks( the kind I use to make my kids wear to pick up dog poop in the back yard) on my arms and hands. I get all the "social distancing" I desire that way. People look at me with that mask and those "bread sack gloves" and think " I ain't getting anywhere near that crazy old man."....It works...LOL !.....moo

Employers opening up will probably have to determine how to deal with the below situation:

An employee chooses to stay on furlough due to "safety concerns". That employee stupidly texts a "back to work" coworker: I'm liking all this extra unemployment, how long do you think I can keep getting this?

Receiver of stupid text forwards it to boss. :)

Rhode Island
Rhode Island restaurants to offer outdoor dining, but with screenings

Gov. Gina Raimondo announced Monday that the state will allow restaurants to offer limited outdoor dining starting May 18.

The state's strict new guidelines call for dining by reservation only and no more than five people per dining party.

Restaurants will also be limited to 20 outdoor tables spaced at least eight feet apart or separated by barriers, said Raimondo, a Democrat.

They’ll also be required to screen customers for the virus and take down their contact information for the state’s contact tracing efforts

Well those who won't agree won't be allowed out perhaps. What about one of those little wristband tracking thingies?

Or an ankle monitor? :-(
