yes because there's no need to do anything besides wear a mask
like social distance ...
Agree. A mask is one layer of protection as well as distancing. People don't realize a cloth or surgical mask is not an N95 that has been fit tested exactly to you. So getting up close with a cloth or surgical mask is a risk. Not to mention no eye protection.

That seems reasonable. As long as people know their risks, they can go ahead and smoke or drink or drive. Where I live citations are issued for no seatbelt - and unfortunately, my county hasn't issued policy on masks (although I think restaurant employees and nail salon workers and gym workers must wear them).

This means that many of us will have to ask questions of others, to know the degree of exposure we're encountering - but I really have no problem with that.

People of all ages within my social circle simply won't go. So, businesses need new business plans for the upcoming year - it's going to be rough no matter what.
It's not just risk to those who go there, but risks to their friends, co-workers, family at home.

My husband and I talked about setting these up in our church but unfortunately they're way too expensive for our budget. Our local nursing home is considering getting them.

It doesnt look like it would take long to disinfect a room. 15 minutes maybe to allow time to move the machine around? Jmo

It will be interesting. I'm trying to find the logic as well.
It really is encouraging to see such enormous research on so many fronts. Antivirals, antimalarials, MABs, cytokines, hormones (ie melatonin), antibiotics, vaccines. It is very satisfying to see so many great minds at work on the same problem.

Truly is.

We need to open up and follow guidelines. That is best for the majority of people in the US. IMO

Except for those who die, of course, and their friends, families, employers, employees, etc.

Union wants Kroger, other grocers to require masks for customers

That's laughable considering I'm in 6 Kroger stores at least once a week for work. Half the employees wear their mask under their nose now. Jmo
I noticed that today at Kroger. This is the first time I've been inside Kroger since the shutdown and out of habit I laid my Kroger card on the conveyor with my groceries. The cashier was probably in her 60s and wore her mask properly. She was nervous and looked at me and pointed at my card. She said, "If you want me to scan that you'll have to turn it over cause I'm not touching it." I felt really bad that I caused her more fear. I just wasn't thinking and I'm sure she has to deal with it all the time.

If she doesn't want to touch stuff, why wasn't she wearing gloves? Obviously you'd handled every single thing she checked for you????

Well good. We can all make our own informed decisions. You can continue to cocoon, if that’s what you need to do.

People need to get used to the new normal. In case you haven’t figured it out, this virus won’t magically go away on it’s own. Society can’t sustain itself in lock-down mode for as long as it might take for a vaccine. We need to open up and follow guidelines. That is best for the majority of people in the US. IMO

Was trying to control the pandemic with a period of shut down just a wasted effort and expense?

‘Several’ new Lovett School graduates test positive for coronavirus."
High school seniors in the Atlanta suburb of Buckhead, near the Governor's Mansion.

"the student “later had company over for a graduation gathering, and then traveled out of town with friends.”
‘Several’ new Lovett School graduates test positive for coronavirus

There was an article posted here last weekend with photos of residents of Buckhead shopping, eating, etc... quoting the virus had not impacted “their community” as much as other places in Atlanta. Wonder what they are thinking now?

A gathering and then out of town with friends.
Please tell me they didn’t take a plane.

>$30,000/yr Private School in Atlanta, I am betting they took a plane.

I don't know why she wasn't wearing gloves but you're right, I touched everything. Maybe she was warned about the plastic cards and thought there was more risk with them. Maybe there is? IDK

Obviously, our customers don't wear masks when eating. But before being brought their food, and if waiting in line, they have to wear masks.
We didn't make the rules.
We're just trying to stay out of troubles.
Makes sense....Sounds like you own a restaurant, I am glad you can get customers, in Mi. restaurants are closed at least to June 12th for the lower part of the State, up north is opening again.

I'd say that, if she's touching several hundred or more things handled by dozens of different strangers every day and not wearing gloves, the LAST thing she needs to be worried about is your frequent shopper card. lol

MERS, H1N1 and swine flu are very much still alive and kicking.
But nothing like the threat they originally produced. IMO, they died down to a weaker threat.
