My mom's cousin just died of COVID. It hurts my heart to think of how he may have suffered. It's a reminder that this is far from over. Hopefully it will serve as a reminder to my mom that she needs to back away if someone stops to talk to her while she's in her yard. She's been making me nervous lately.

I'm sorry. :(

I noticed them the first day.
Well, even though I've not noticed any of the good things I was told would happen, I also don't think I've gained weight which I also expected (knock wood).

I know quitting won't make a difference if I get COVID, but it's still what has kept me from smoking so far. The graphic of not being able to breathe is stuck in my mind.

Keep it up Jane, that's such an amazing achievement at a stressful time.

Sorry to hear about your mum's cousin. It worries me too that people think it's over. My sister visited her GP (doctor) last week and had a call the next day to warn her the GP has tested positive! This thing is v much still among us :(

Gov. Jared Polis Fears Hundreds Of New COVID-19 Cases Due To Colorado Protests: 'Just As We Were Making Progress'

“DENVER (CBS4) – Gov. Jared Polis says he strongly supports the message of protesters who are calling for change following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, but with COVID-19 still a major concern he’s worried about the health risks Coloradans are taking who’ve been gathering in large groups over the past few days in order to get their message heard. He said he’s been up at night worrying.

“One of my greatest fears in watching the events over the last weekend is that so many people gathering in one place together will increase the spread of coronavirus across our nation, here in Colorado,” Polis said in a Tuesday afternoon news conference. “Only in the coming weeks will we see the impact of these large gatherings, but health experts tell me that it could result in hundreds of new cases and untold pain, death and suffering just as we were making progress.””

Excellent Q&A and learned so much. Although long, it doesn't have any visuals so you can listen to while driving or working in the yard etc.

Just one highlight he talks about is if a person gets convalescent plasma, the person may not get natural immunity (makes sense, never thought of that before though)

Another highlight is he talks about how some retrospective studies may have something incorrectly look GREAT! But actually very BAD but not known until a prospective study is done. (He give the example many here might remember... Hormone Replacement Therapy in women.. big thing in 90's and 00's, until a prospective was done and everyone gasped at the dangers shown.. HRT's stopped)

Dixie, for me, it takes too long to view entire videos, and I'm usually not willing to do that. I have tried watching the videos with closed captions and skipping through trying to get the key messages. I'd love to have a "cheat sheet" for each video that lists the sources he cites and key points he makes... I'm pretty sure I'm not up to doing that myself, though!

My attention span is quite poor these days with everything that is going on. I imagine that's true of most people.

Understood! I listen to often while working in the yard. Some folks do have time to listen and to summarize. Some of their videos, especially Dr. Campbell, now do more summary under the videos within the link.

Of course you knew bills like this were coming.
The wildest part is that the insurance company *paid* $9,293 for a coronavirus test.

The way government does allow these charges gives way to next year allowing the insurance companies to potentially REALLY increase monthly charges for coverage in the future. It's gonna be a shock MOO at what is going to be the increase in rates for health coverage next year.

All above MOO

Replying to my own post here as over 60 minutes to update.

CDC releases updates on what the government (not private) pays for vaccines and I get an alert each time updated.

It's surprising how much some cost for certain diseases, and how little for others.

As for those who have followed on threads, we know that the government is already gearing up for millions of doses right NOW with different ones for COVID, even though none are proven to be effective. That is what must be done all over the world as to reduce the timeline to market and to prepare for the one that finally is approved.

In doing such... the manufacturing capacity is being taken away from manufacturing other vaccines in the short term... so if you need a vaccine as an older person... get now vs. in the next year if you can (e.g. shingles, pneumonia etc.) I do think that they will have saved capacity for the annual flu.. but like last year.. you may need to shop around in September/October to see who has it.

MOO

ETA: It would help to post the link I started out the post with lol

Right now, so many countries are making a 14 day mandatory quarantine when people come from the United States. In a government quarantine area. This is serious stuff.

Which makes me think that Las Vegas opening up the casinos this week is insanity. They won't be getting any international tourists. And with the riots on the strip, aside from the COVID19 risk, I don't see how these hotels are going to be making any money.

Definitely a rush to reopen. Clark County still has the highest numbers in NV, and I don't believe theses numbers are from seniors at nursing homes. June 3: 6845 cases and 346 deaths.

From what I've been told there will be no buffets, limits on number of people at gaming tables, plexiglas surrounding spaces, many slots removed, employees masked, no smoking, no clubs, temp taken before entry, no shows, occupancy limits. Now, doesn't this sound like so much fun???

Saving you $$!

I'm still working on it. o_O

@Trino, yes, super fun. With random gunfire, and gangs wandering around on the strip.

I think that I will pass.
