from me: Who else thought this was a really bad idea when they heard about it? The Naval Academy held their graduation socially distanced and virtually.
Coronavirus: 16 West Point cadets test positive after returning to campus for Trump’s commencement address

At least 16 cadets have tested positive for the coronavirus after returning to the West Point campus for a commencement address by President Donald Trump which will be held on June 13, USA Today reported.

The students are being treated and are not showing signs of the virus.

The infected students are a fraction of the 850 students who have returned to campus since spring break in March.

Also, 71 members out of the 5,000 faculty and staff have tested positive for the virus since March.
Wait, the commencement address is scheduled for June 13th, and they are returning to the campus in March and April because of the upcoming speech?

How does that make sense? It says they are returning, since last March, for a speech being given on June 13th.

It sounds like they just want to involve Trump somehow, so they say that the reason these students are returning , since weeks ago, is for his commencement speech. I am sure there are other reasons too. Like jobs, family, boyfriends and girlfriends, etc

The stress of 2020 probably isn't helping. My hair falls out twice as quick when I'm stressed. I'm surprised I'm not bald right now. Jmo

I am pages behind on this thread as I have been AWFK...and now catching up.

So wierd that three folks have talked about their hair falling out. I've been in the last few months WTF! as to the amount of my hair falling out in my comb every day.

Stress? Beans and rice diet since February? (I am taking daily multivitamins since Feb, in addition to vitamin D suggested by Dr. Campbell and Seheult.)

Hmmmm.

Interesting as I just thought it was me, but catching up on thread over last few days others mentioned.

I would share a photo of what my daily comb looks like, but it would be too gross.... but hmmmmmmmmmmm... it must be stress? I have lost over 10 pounds in just two months.. bad eating from pantry plus stress = not good?

I thought about the vaccine volunteers and am thankful for the Covid19 trials but I am not sure I would sign up for that. Probably won't get a vaccine if there is a public one in the next few months either. There are too many unkowns and mutations with the virus that my opinion is it needs more understanding. My mind wants to be the first in line for a shot but yet my thoughts get doubtful with fear of it too soon, how are your thoughts?

I thought about the vaccine volunteers and am thankful for the Covid19 trials but I am not sure I would sign up for that. Probably won't get a vaccine if there is a public one in the next few months either. There are too many unkowns and mutations with the virus that my opinion is it needs more understanding. My mind wants to be the first in line for a shot but yet my thoughts get doubtful with fear of it too soon, how are your thoughts?

After reading some reports about reactions from one who participated (Emory University in Atlanta next to CDC .. med student.. sorry no link) and the bad reaction he had.. I'm with Dr. Seheult... let others be the first adoptors.

This/more than one vaccine is going to be released under pressure with too many unknowns and potential bad stuff. They will release in US as they have invested too much to let go to waste. Right now, they are already starting on millions of doses to be manufactured, without having ANY results past stage 2 of the 4 required. Yes, to get it out, that is what needs to be done with the more than 10+ they have hopes for. Butttttttttttttt, that does not mean to "when in doubt, throw it out" that science has.

I don't think they will. I think they will push out potentially unproven standards because they put so much into one or two or three vaccines... that really shouldn't be going to market.

But my opinion above and below, is that the US government is leaning towards and "gives me the vibe" that a very bad situation may happen... that they will try to justify it's not the best, and push out one that was not proven because so much monies have been invested.

Doing such, will hinder further efforts as I think.......... well..........I'll get into in another post.

''But behind the scenes, it was a much different story, one of significant delays by China and considerable frustration among WHO officials over not getting the information they needed to fight the spread of the deadly virus, The Associated Press has found.

Despite WHO's praise, China in fact sat on releasing the genetic map, or genome, of the virus for more than a week after three different government labs had fully decoded the information. Tight controls on information and competition within the Chinese public health system were to blame, according to dozens of interviews and internal documents.

Chinese government labs only released the genome after another lab published it ahead of authorities on a virologist website on Jan. 11. Even then, China stalled for at least two more weeks on providing WHO with detailed data on patients and cases, according to recordings of internal meetings held by the UN health agency through January — all at a time when the outbreak arguably might have been dramatically slowed.

Recordings obtained by the AP suggest WHO officials were lauding China in public because they wanted to coax more information out of the government. Privately, they complained in meetings the week of Jan. 6 that China was not sharing enough data to assess how effectively the virus spread between people or what risk it posed to the rest of the world, costing valuable time''.

Leaked WHO files show China 'delayed releasing important information' about virus

...
China delayed releasing important coronavirus information during the early days of the outbreak, according to leaked WHO documents and recordings of WHO meetings obtained by the Associated Press (AP).
The delay led to frustration for officials in the World Health Organisation (WHO), even as they publicly praised China for its transparency.

The country waited more than one week before publishing the genome of the novel coronavirus on 11 January, despite the fact three different government labs had fully sequenced the genetic code.
...
"Tight controls on information and competition within the Chinese public health system were to blame, according to dozens of interviews and internal documents," AP reported.

And for two weeks afterwards, China also delayed providing the WHO with more detailed data on patients and cases, according to the recordings, making it difficult for officials to judge whether the virus could spread between people, and what risk it might mean for the rest of the world.
One WHO official reportedly complained: "We're going on very minimal information. It's clearly not enough for you to do proper planning."

AP said: "WHO staffers debated how to press China for gene sequences and detailed patient data without angering authorities, worried about losing access and getting Chinese scientists into trouble."
...
On 3 January, the Chinese National Health Commission issued a secret notice ordering labs studying the virus to destroy their samples or send them to approved institutes.

The notice also banned labs from publishing information about the virus without the approval of the government.

I can only speak for myself, I can't for @Henry2326 as we were aligned, but as one who was here in this thread since #1 thread, it just irks me to read such.

Someone a few threads back posted a video... showing how we blamed other countries for what they did, and then we in the US did the same thing, even worse.

To get mass clinical trials out during an epidemic new to the world within days, to get the genome out within 10 days, etc etc.and shared with the world was amazing as to speed. And media continues to critique and blame? pffffft MOO

And how long did it take for the US to realize they had a new to the US epidemic.. over a month or two or more.

SMDH...

The way government does allow these charges gives way to next year allowing the insurance companies to potentially REALLY increase monthly charges for coverage in the future. It's gonna be a shock MOO at what is going to be the increase in rates for health coverage next year.
My husband and I have already discussed the possibility of me quitting my full-time job at the end of this year because of insurance increases. DH is retired with SS and a couple of small pensions, but with my salary, we make too much for me to qualify for an insurance subsidy of any kind. And I just work in a church office! Right now I'm paying $730 a month just for me and that's for a bottom-of-the-line bronze plan with a $6,700 deductible. A silver plan would cost more than half of my take home pay. And that's this year's rate. If I wasn't working, that same $730 plan would cost me $40.

I was hoping to work full-time until 62 (3 years away), but I read that insurance rates might go up 40% next year. That is not sustainable. I'll have to quit my job in order to afford insurance!

We got to see our grandchildren today. I think we're the only grandparents we know who sat there all masked up the entire time. We're preening like peacocks over being so responsible.

We sat in the shade at our daughter's house. The 2 year old had water table, wading pool, etc to occupy her. We held the 3 month old and were happy to refrain from smooching his precious head.

It was a lovely visit. 2 year old has started chattering away in the past 3 months and is very entertaining.

((hugs))

Well, even though I've not noticed any of the good things I was told would happen, I also don't think I've gained weight which I also expected (knock wood).

I know quitting won't make a difference if I get COVID, but it's still what has kept me from smoking so far. The graphic of not being able to breathe is stuck in my mind.

I have underlying condition too. What was so very interesting was the information on how COPD treatments with a drug are being looked at. I had NO idea that there were such treatments for COPD until Dr. Seheult said such. I'll keep that in my mind in the future for not Covid, but for my COPD as I never knew it was mainstream treatment that I had never know about.

As I said a few threads back, I sincerely think that because of all the worldwide research, we are going to learn so much about other diseases.

It's like the run up to putting a man on the moon, all resources are finding out information that is new to the world with this virus, but have overlap with other diseases

e.g. VWF and oxidative stress cascade is the real issue.. a respiratory entrance that then gets into anywhere in the body that has epithelial cells (e.g. the entire vascular system, and also causes encephalitis due to cascade)

Dr. Campbell and Dr. Seheult videos over the last three months have been enlightening.

But MSM is at least 1 1/2 months behind the science MOO.

They, unfortunately, are focused on unproven /low evidence science..............

And I'm nearly 3 weeks without nicotine. Just a little stress.

But, yeah, I did lose a lot of hair last time I was on these meds. So much, in fact, that I had to cut it all off.
After I had knee replacement, I experienced some hair thinning at the temples for 2 yrs. After meeting with a dietitian, she recommended AG Pro instead of Hair, Skin and Nails supplements. Within 3-4 months, my hair grew back. I got it in the pharmacy section at Costco but I believe Walmart carries it.

Yeah, that is why in the first 10 or so threads, most everything that was posted was science.

And that is what many in those threads were drawn to, and continue to post update after update after update on science every single day.

And still are.

Churches and bars have the highest COVID-19 cases.

Ummm, disagree.

Nursing homes (or whatever you want to call such, including independent homes)... in addition to meat processing plants and prisons etc etc.?? have the highest rates.

MOO

BAD BAD media report as I do not agree with such for the US.

Bad and incorrect MOO

I still get daily updates from King County (the first outbreak in the US) and the cases have now doubled in the last few days.

Well some (unexpected) good has come out of all this, re face masks! rbbm.
COVID-19 face mask provided DNA to solve 2018 child rape case, police
''KING CITY, Calif. - DNA swabbed from a California man’s face mask, which he was wearing to protect himself from the coronavirus, has led to his arrest in connection with a 2018 child rape, authorities said.''

“MCU personnel arranged to meet with Leonardo Ramirez to discuss an unrelated matter at the King City Police Department,” the news release said. “When Leonardo Ramirez arrived, he was offered a disposable mask to comply with the ongoing Monterey public health order as investigators were to be in close proximity as they spoke.

“Upon receiving the mask, Leonardo Ramirez discarded a mask he had been wearing, which MCU staff collected at the conclusion of the interview.”

The mask was sent to the California Department of Justice for DNA testing, police officials said. Genetic material found on the mask matched DNA evidence from the girl’s rape.''

''Ramirez was taken into custody Sunday afternoon''.

This is such a good post. I am so glad you may benefit from a different COPD medicine. I agree that science and medicine will learn massive amounts about CoVId as well as other diseases and also about the role of RNA in producing symptoms of various kinds in humans (I wouldn't be surprised if SARS-CV-2 triggers some symptoms that are as yet undocumented and unstudied - in rare cases, including some specific issues with the brain).

And the "public relations" people are misleading the public as usual. MSM has been close to worthless in covering CoVid, but you state it in such a neutral way. That's a gift.

I've been playing the insurance and subsidy "game" since I was unemployed and then moved into retirement.

I found out that of course (I think is/has changed in last few months???????????) that you had to first bleed through Cobra payments, which were REALLY high. Then after that, I was able to go onto what is called ObamaCare.

The sweet spot to qualify for ObamaCare and to get GOOD subsidies for me this year was to have an income of less than ~$39,500, and which also put me within the 12% tax bracket as a single person bracket.

So any retirement funds to withdraw had to be below such. Above that.. NO subsidy at all.

As with many retired folks, it's a "game" to qualify. I recall from the 80's someone who was much older and readying for retirement shared that with me about social security... but with insurance... same thing.

Research it if needed please...

ETA: Without my subsidy, (as a single taxpayer.. don't know about married folks) my monthly insurance would be ~$1,500 per month. With subsidy and income less than above income of $39,500... it is $160 per month.

Just a few hundred dollars more a month than $39,500 (taking out of my IRA etc as to unearned income)... my subsidy would be $0!

Wow...same here. Not as much recently, but a few weeks ago and back in April, gobs of my hair were coming out when I shampooed it. New symptom?

As I wondered and still do wonder of I caught the virus from DH.
