As long as he stays outside and doesn’t go into the clubhouse, golfing seems safe. They’re outside, and stand sort of far apart from one another. As long as no one coughs in his face I’m betting he will be fine.

It’s when there are huge crowds and people are breathing hard next to one another.
Good to see you

The news just showed video from New Zealand. They're playing Rugby matches now, to large stadium crowds exhibiting zero social distancing.

Of course they've eliminated the virus as much as any country possibly could, and also are not allowing entry from non-citizens. I'm sure within a couple of days, people in America will be saying...."Why can't we do that too?"

Our golf courses have a ton of precautions. I didn't join my league this year for the first time in about 15 years. It was just way too much to think about. For me.

FYI Check with your dollar tree stores. I was there today. They had 8 ounce bottles of hand sanitizers (no limits) for $1 each.
I bought 6 bottles. (Restaurant and staff).

How is it going at your restaurant? Is the staff keeping things super hygienic? I worked at restaurants a lot when I was young. And people were not careful. Didn’t always wash their hands after using the bathroom. Or didn’t wash their hands well. Touched their faces and then handled food. Didn’t disinfect.

I worked with my aunt (by marriage) and she would grab hotdog buns with her bare hands after handling money. She laughed at me for using tongs. I’ve always been meticulous about sanitation since adulthood, I guess.

How do you cope with that with the stuff we have going on? How do you train them?

They already are. A woman who helps me at my business now and then things the numbers are inflated and it’s not big deal. She brought up New Zealand.

Good to see you

Thanks! Nice to see you too!

Our courts have reopened somewhat but it’s still mostly all via web conference and we are horribly impacted now. Web conferences take even longer. It’s a nightmare. Nothing but domestic violence, child custody and criminal cases are really being heard at the moment.

I am tired of fighting. People need to do what they feel they're comfortable with and believe is necessary. I do not intend to change my habits much, if at all. I've cut Way back on spending recently. I had been getting the occasional restaurant delivery during the height of the quarantine, but now I'm starting to use up my stored freezer items, to further eliminate spending. I'll start to support a recovery in the economy, when I feel it is safe to do so. Merely hearing our government and media tell me that it's time to get back to normal, is not good enough for the time being.

Reducing spending is a very good idea. No one knows what is coming. It helps that we are hardly buying any gasoline and are not doing any traveling this year. But food is definitely getting more expensive.

Although I must say I don’t know how I could cope with several hours at court wearing a mask. It’s hard for me to do things. I get super hot.

That is so very sad and stressful for you. I was dreading Jury Duty March 25th which was cancelled for now I had been advised. I never imagined early in a virus would be the reason.

I'm starting to struggle as we hit summer. I'm in retail and have to retrieve my product from stockrooms. They are hot. The last 2 days I've just been soaking wet with sweat after moving freight around. It's not pleasant having to breathe through a mask in that. Jmo

I am not so worried about bathroom transmission (hopefully he has a fan to leave on). But even if not, if the door is open for a while, it shouldn't be too bad. And...a person can at least wash their hands there, put on a new disposable mask if need be, etc.

However, people talking to each other, with their faces a natural 3-4 feet apart. That's bad news. Hugs. Bad news. It's so sad. Singing? Bad news. I hope they have a back yard and people can opt to be outside, otherwise I think it's truly irresponsible. People feel obligated to go to parties, and will ignore a tickly throat or a bit of extra mucous and a few sneezes. It's just part of our culture to do that.

But with a mask and frequent hand washing, the only thing I'd want would be outdoors and 6' of distancing, no shouting near me.

(I wouldn't go, I"m a party-pooper). I'd stay at home and worry about my friend and my brother. And that's basically what I'm doing.
I am NOT going. I sent money and a card last week, not even thinking a party would be considered. I will drive by and honk. Maybe. It may just worry me more to see a mob of people probably not being smart.

Did we read the same article? The article didn’t say anything about people needing to stay home from work. Here’s what these doctors are suggesting:

Now, these doctors are urging anybody who will listen to take the pandemic seriously and keep observing precautions.
<snip>

None of the doctors are public health experts, so they didn’t feel qualified to advise people about how to stay healthy and safe. But on their return to San Francisco, they all implored their network of friends and family-members to take Covid-19 seriously and listen to the advice of public health officials. They know what happens when health systems get overwhelmed.

“I hope we have the stamina and spirit and sense of collectivism (to avoid outbreaks like New York),” said Dr. Weiss. “If there’s one thing I’d recommend, it’s to keep wearing masks.”

“I know everyone is getting tired,” added Kotas, who said she’s willing to fly out again to the next potential hotspot if she’s needed. “But please take it seriously. People really suffer when we don’t take care of each other and contagion gets out of control.”

These San Francisco doctors flew to New York to fight the coronavirus — and they have a warning for us

Right. This will end. But for now if we can wear masks when close to others and be super vigilant with hygiene, it will help.

It’s easy to mess up. I’ve made several mistakes where I thought - “Oh no. I’m dead.” And I’m pretty strict about hygiene stuff. So I think if I make mistakes what about people who were touching public, highly trafficked surfaces and then repeatedly touching their faces? (Which I've seen several time).

Bottom line is there is going to be a huge sector of the population uncomfortable with going shopping for stuff other than food, hanging out places, if masks for employees are optional or people in general refuse to wear masks when appropriate.

No way would I go to a movie theater. A play or concert or show. A shopping mall. Clothing store. Out for a walk on the beach boardwalk and stop for a treat or browse novelty and other shops.

I can’t because people here equate mask requirements with being killed like George Floyd. Seriously. They’ve stated as much at a County supervisors meeting.

And there are a lot of people like me. Enough that it will continue to impact the economy.

If people could just be smart and considerate we could adjust until we find ways to treat or effectively prevent the disease.

Yup. This is crucial. It made me feel much better about having people in my office or being in court. As long as everyone wears masks.
As long as they wear it properly, anyway. It does make me feel better about struggling to breathe through mine for 6 hours a day.

Thanks for your input: i will be sure to suggest he not go into the clubhouse or socialize --and keep his distance!

It is a comedy skit now, everyone is wearing a mask, and now, there is a layer of plexiglas between people. So, people talk, but sometimes you can't hear them. Especially people who speak English as a second language.

Shrug. Life in our new reality. I also have a fan on my desk, because I get warm with a mask, which of course, adds more noise to an already impossible situation.
