Amazon has lots of KN95s right now (with ear loops). That means they are not up to NIOSH standard, but I got some of those anyway. They are actually good to use in hot weather. I also got a sun visor to use as a face shield.

I've got some face shields in my cart but no KN95 or N95's available via prime on my Canadian site.

This is such a GREAT idea!!!:D Thank You so much!

I love this community!

it really is a great safety tool
for normal situations too to keep the children safe from traffic or cars pulling into the driveway

Houston hospitals are still doing elective surgeries...if it was me there is no way I'd feel comfortable being in a hospital there for an elective procedure.

The Governor of the state should tell Trump not to come to their state: that the health of their citizens is too important to risk for a rally- or the mayor could do the same thing. Wimpy officials make me puke.
What's crazier is the number of people who are actually planning to attend. What's wrong with these people? Have they no knowledge of the spread of this virus? Are they so political they are not concerned they could spread this awful virus to their families and friends?

I am thinking a lot of them think it is, you know, "just the flu"- no big deal, or a hoax--otherwise, if you took it seriously, how could you actually attend this rally- it is such a danger

wow they have not come back in stock in my area for months that I know of but I haven't checked physical stores lately ... have just been watching online

I've just seen TP and paper towel for the first time in stores (AZ) this week (not the brands/type I want...like full sheet Bounty!) but I've seen masks and sanitizer now multiple times at more than one Walmart here (but never online). And CVS I've seen masks regularly as well.

Definitely seems like some things are being placed on in store stock more regularly than online (whereas I was finding TP online over a month ago regularly, but never in stores; Lysol and Microban spray, as well, I've seen online regularly at Walmart but not in stores)

I am happy to learn that Ohio has a system to stop these thieves.
However, many States do not.
The misuse of the money that was supposed to help us small business owners was abused by greedy corrupt people everywhere.
It turned into a free for all.
Huge corporations and politicians jumped into this.
Disgusting 🤬🤬🤬.
The $600.00 on top of your weekly unemployment benefits, supported by the democrats, helped create a ton of people making more money by not working, then we've ever seen before.
So, as we try to re-open, nobody wants to work.
Why would they?
They are getting paid more then their former jobs...
To stay home.
So. The masses in the streets, spreading COVID-19.
Probably not on purpose, have nothing to lose financially.
They're tired of being locked down and they're angry about George Floyd's death, at the hand of our hired police that murdered him in front of the whole world to see.
So Now What?
*All of my writing is my opinion.
In 1918 during a pandemic, the leaders at the time threw a parade to welcome home our brave fighters.
The result of this happy parade was disastrous.
To me. History is just repeating itself.
Gloms of people yelling and spewing for hours upon hours, marching side by side.
I look at Covit-19 as an invisible deadly invader into the human race.
I pray that these people do not catch and spread COVID-19.
But, I think, that this evil was having a field day during all of this protesting.
I don't think that "anyone" should poopo a second wave.
At least we know what to do.
For those of us that have been paying attention, I hope for the best, and am preparing for the worst.

This sucks too.

Husted: 3,000 fraudulent unemployment claims made in Ohio

Ohio Lt. Gov. Jon Husted discussed the issue of unemployment fraud during Tuesday’s coronavirus press briefing. He said roughly 3,000 fraudulent claims have been made in Ohio by criminals who are filing for unemployment on behalf of real people who haven’t lost their jobs.

“Unfortunately, there are some people out there who tried to take advantage of others during this crisis,” Husted said. “The Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services is working to secure your tax dollars and benefits that are due to you and not to fraudsters.”

Husted said the state of Washington flagged 190,000 fraudulent claims totaling $650 million in unemployment insurance.

Can't be done with public toilets because they don't have lids.
Exactly. That's where urinals and Depends come in.:) Or disinfectants when one does use a public toilet <<shudder>>.

They'll be in a minority of major universities (and probably minor ones) if they don't provide all students and faculty with the option of distance ed.

For one thing, I'd assume they have a heating system and that it will be used in fall, in Boston. It would be a memorable thing, indeed, if they turned it off and everyone had to bundle up to sit in a chilly room.

UCLA will have only 15-20% of its offerings on campus (and many of those classes are in the medical division). That does allow them the classroom space to have very small sections of other classes where it's hard to have distance ed.

I'd be wary too.

I got a message from the school district today. They say we have 2 options: Either your child can do distance learning 100 percent, or they can attend school 2 days a week for a few hours, and distance learning the rest of the time. So basically no education for the kids this upcoming school year. : (

Two-metre social distancing rule could be reduced to one metre for pubs and restaurants opening this month

Ireland

PUBS AND RESTAURANTS may be allowed to reduce the two metre social distancing rule to one metre when they reopen if the length of a customer’s stay is restricted to 90 minutes, it has emerged.

Sources confirmed that consideration is being given to reducing the social distancing advice ahead of restaurants, and pubs which serve food, reopening from 29 June.

Pubs without a restaurant licence are currently scheduled to reopen from 20 July.

The chief medical officer, Dr Tony Holohan and the National Public Health Emergency Team previously raised concerns about members of the public gathering in confined spaces for longer than a two hour period. It is understood this concern will influence any changes to the current guidelines.

It comes as Fáilte Ireland yesterday confirmed it received draft guidance from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) to safely reopen the sector.

The tourism body is currently in discussions with the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport to clarify details around social distancing measures, and further updates are expected over the coming days.

Padraig Cribben, chief executive of the Vintners Federations of Ireland said the increased capacity for publicans was welcome but added that it is “still very restrictive”.

“I think the important thing to point out is that these are for the food operations between 29 June and 20 July. It’s not in relation to a normal pub, a normal wet pub as it would be called, when it opens,” he said speaking on RTÉ Radio 1′s Morning Ireland programme.

Older people will increasingly be shut-ins.

This sentence jumped out at me in your excellent post @10ofRods. I am 74. This is my life. I am officially a shut-in, only going out when it’s unavoidable. I have been out of our apartment three times since I decided it was best to stay at home: March 13 (finishing up second round of stay-at-home shopping), May 18 (long overdue injections for pain) and June 16 (lab tests at the hospital in preparation for telehealth doctor appointment next week). No haircut since March 10 except for me trimming the parts in front I can reach. Pretty soon I’ll have a gray mullet!

I would love to go to our two favorite restaurants and sit outside, but I’m not going to risk it because I don’t trust or expect that others will be as careful as I am. I wouldn’t feel as afraid to go out if everyone was wearing masks and social distancing. But it’s a minority. The bars are full, despite state regulations.

Many people in my area in Southern Oregon commenting on news stories about coronavirus have the attitude “If you’re afraid of it just stay home. I’m going to live my life.” “The Governor can’t deny my rights.” “She’s a Nazi.” “It’s just glorified flu.” “The people dying have died from their other conditions.” “The fake news is trying to create panic.” “The only reason cases are increasing is because testing is increasing”...where have I heard that before? And on and on. The willful and and stubborn ignorance and selfishness is mind-blowing! Meanwhile a Church further north held a crowded service and have been slammed with cases, while our congregation does everything on zoom and stays healthy. One can make sacrifices for the sake of others, you know...Golden Rule and all that.

So yes, I’m a shut-in, and except for his walks, so is my 75 year old husband. We’ll get used to the expectation that it will be long-term. We have to. We choose to live and not infect others.

Maybe we should take a can of lysol into public toilet and spray everything in there?

Oh please don’t, that will kill me quicker than covid!

I agree- i have asthma and i cannot use those kind of sprays-- they would cause me to have a bad asthma attack---- I use alcohol to disinfect- no stinky sprays like Lysol- I can't use things like furniture polish- nothing that smells strong--- if i smelled Lysol in the bathroom i would have to run out of there as quickly as possible!!

New Jersey moved to Phase 2 on Monday. As such, they dragged me back to work after 3 months at home. We are here but at less than 50% capacity, alternating work schedules and, at their request, have been asked to take vacation/sick time for the balance of the 2 weeks we are not in the office, since my firm must've ran out of PPP money. I'm only working 3 days this week and 2 days next week.

What happens in July, I don't know. I don't know why my office opened but many offices are still shut down. I drove into work today, had the roads to myself all week.

It was nice having the past 3 months off. I haven't had 3 months off since the births of my children. I've worked all my life. It gave me time to see what it's like to be in "retirement" mode. The opportunity was certainly a learning experience, I did nothing more than be a couch potato so at least now I'll be more prepared to get my stay-at-home life together when retirement comes.

I know that CDC isolation recommendations are as follows:

“Recommendation: For persons recovered from COVID-19 illness, CDC recommends that isolation be maintained for at least 10 days after illness onset and at least 3 days (72 hours) after recovery. Illness onset is defined as the date symptoms begin.

Recovery is defined as resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications with progressive improvement or resolution of other symptoms. Ideally, isolation should be maintained for this full period to the extent that it is practicable under rapidly changing circumstances.

Did you take the free online Johns Hopkins course also?
