Did anyone have the same sentiment about the thousands of protesters? They were applauded and praised. Never heard anyone say that they might be infecting their family or coworkers.

I sure was worried. Folks I talked to were worried. Scientists were really the only one's speaking to this risk that I heard. My City had 2,000 protesters. Toronto had many more.

Coronavirus: Lockdown easing and face mask rules announced in Scotland

Lockdown restrictions in Scotland will be eased further on Friday, Nicola Sturgeon announced as the country moves to the next phase of its coronavirus response.

The first minister said people who live on their own or only with children under 18 are able to form an "extended household group" from Friday.

This means they can meet indoors without social distancing and can stay overnight as part of transition to phase two of the Scottish government's four-step plan to gradually lift restrictions.

Other new measures include:

  • Scots can meet two other households at the same time while outside - up to a maximum of eight people from Friday
  • They will also be able to go inside to use the toilet when meeting in someone else's garden
  • Anyone leaving home should stay within a roughly five-mile radius of their home for recreational purposes
  • Anyone shielding can go outside for exercise from Friday
  • They can also meet people from one other household - maintaining social distancing
  • Face coverings will be mandatory on public transport in Scotland from Monday
Ms Sturgeon added that from Monday the Scottish construction sector will move to the next phase of its restart plan.

Dentists will also be able to open, professional sport can resume and places of worship will be able to reopen - although only for individual prayer and not services.

From 29 June, outdoor markets, playgrounds and sports facilities will reopen in Scotland, along with attractions such as zoos, although visitors should not travel more than five miles from their homes and tickets should be bought in advance.

Non-essential shops will also be able to open from this date if they have outdoor entrances and exits.

Restrictions on moving house will also be dropped and weddings will be allowed to go ahead but only if they are outdoors and with "limited numbers".

Ms Sturgeon said there is "no date" for reopening beer gardens and outdoors spaces at restaurants.

Some welcome changes and hopefully Wales may follow suit. Still not understanding why the hospitality is not allowed to open. Where will the wedding receptions be held?

And how many people live within 5 miles of a zoo ?

This is getting farcical IMO.

The whole “signing of waivers” for sickness just seems weird and pointless to me - in any context rally, salon, gym, whatever.
We never signed waivers precorona going out to eat or grocery shop to cover food borne illness. Or entering a healthcare facility or school to cover meningitis or Mrsa or cDif. *shrug*

Waivers don't legally work in the UK.

Coronavirus: 13-day-old baby becomes one of UK's youngest victims

A 13-day-old baby has become one of the youngest people to die with coronavirus in the UK.

The child had no underlying health conditions.

The youngster's death comes as it was announced a further 135 people who tested positive for COVID-19 had lost their lives.

It brings the total fatalities in all settings in the UK, including hospitals, care homes and the wider community, to 42,288.

Heartbreaking :(

If a student or employee signs a waiver at their university and their building or residence hall becomes a hot spot for coronavirus in the fall, they can't sue the university for exposing them to coronavirus infection. Or if it spread to a whole class and this was discoverable through contact tracing. No student would be allowed to file a lawsuit. Nor would the faculty member.

It is heartbreaking. I believe that was in Sheffield but also came across another while searching. This was a 3 day old with underlying conditions.

Tthree-day-old boy died after mother had Covid-19

The father of a three-day-old baby who died after his mother tested positive for coronavirus has said the death of his miracle son was "beyond cruel".

Coolio Carl Justin John Morgan was born on 2 May at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend, but died three days later.

An inquest heard how maternal coronavirus contributed to his death.

His father Carl said: "The only time I saw him was on the last day of his life."

An inquest at Pontypridd Coroner's Court heard how Coolio's mother Kimberley tested positive for Covid-19 after she gave birth at the Bridgend hospital.

Coolio had fetal bradycardia - a low heart rate - and was transferred to Singleton Hospital in Swansea where he died on 5 May.

The primary cause of death was listed as severe hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy, meaning the brain is starved of blood and oxygen. while maternal Covid-19 was listed as a secondary cause.

Speaking after the hearing, Carl said: "They told me he'd tested positive for coronavirus too, which meant I wouldn't be allowed to see him or hold his hand."

Speaking from the couple's home in Maesteg, Bridgend county, Carl said doctors waited until Kimberly was well enough to go with him to say goodbye before turning their baby son's life support off.

Coronavirus: Schools in Northern Ireland to have one-metre social distancing rule

Schools in Northern Ireland will have a social distancing rule of one metre rather than two metres when they reopen in August, it has been announced.

The measure will allow class sizes to return to almost normal levels, said First Minister Arlene Foster.

Also hair salons, barbers and nail bars can reopen on 6 July.

The moves were agreed by ministers in the powersharing executive during a meeting on Thursday.

The decision to cut social distancing in schools is in contrast to the approach taken in Westminster where the government is keeping the two-metre rule but it is under review.

The Northern Ireland executive had announced earlier this week that pubs, bars, restaurants, hotels, cafes and coffee shops can reopen on 3 July.

Indoor pubs and bars opening on that date will have to primarily function as restaurants and offer substantial meals with table service.

From 26 June, caravan parks, campsites and self-contained tourist accommodation will be able to reopen.

For some reason people want to believe the sun and heat kills that virus--- it doesn't---wish it did though.

Well that drug sounds like it gives us some hope----- one of the statements in this article discusses how the virus gets into your nose and then into your lungs while you sleep: i don't understand that- how do we get infected with virus while we sleep? Exposure occurs when you come in contact with someone who has the virus sneezes, coughs or breathes on you---for enough time to allow the virus to spread to another person- how does this translate to getting the virus into your nose during the night- or does that mean while you sleep the virus keeps replicating in your nose?

First it's just in your nose (or mouth/throat - nose is probably more susceptible). Then it replicates. It would eventually get into your lungs in greater amounts, not sure why anyone would say "while sleeping," except that we tend to breathe differently while sleeping, so maybe it gets deeper into the pockets of your lungs.

That's where it's headed: into the depths of your lungs, its pockets, and most especially, the lining of the lungs where it finds the right kinds of cells to host it. Then it hijacks your lung lining cells, spreads through your pulmonary and cardiovascular system, heading to epithelial cells throughout your body.

If you were sleeping in a room with someone with CV, obviously, that would be far longer than the recommended exposure to a person who is shedding CV virions.

To convert the N95 masks that have vent holes in the front, simply place a piece of tape over the external vent to cover it, health experts said.

Why should I make myself uncomfortable, when so many can't even be bothered to wear a face covering to begin with. At this point, I'm watching out for my own safety.

WOW. How very scary for this town and it's citizens.

Coronavirus: Hundreds test positive for COVID-19 in German slaughterhouse

Hundreds of workers have tested positive for COVID-19 at a slaughterhouse in northern Germany, prompting to the closure of local schools and an urgent investigation.

Toennies, one of Germany's biggest meat processors, said it had stopped slaughtering on Wednesday and was shutting the abattoir in stages.

More than 1,000 workers were tested and a total of 657 people tested positive for coronavirus, DW News reported.

And around 7,000 people in the district of Gutersloh, where the abattoir is located, have been put into quarantine due to possible exposure of the virus.

The local government authority said it would close schools and kindergartens from Thursday as a precautionary measure.

It's frightening. This could happen anywhere. It looks like this virus is not going away.

I feel the same way. The valve is what makes it easier to breathe. If you tape it over, then it's going to be a lot harder for you to breathe. If other people are not wearing masks, then seems like you'd go through a lot of trouble to protect them, when they don't care nothing for you. But regardless, I have purchased some neck gaiters to wear over the mask with a valve. I feel it adds an extra layer of protection for me and at least my exhaled air is being filtered.

Celebrities using their following to push political messages is just wrong, especially during a health pandemic.
MOO.
Why is that? Don't celebrities have the same freedoms as anyone else?

I know u were asking about purchasing N95 masks. I found this company. I have no experience with them tho. I might give it a go as our Home Hardware is out now as of today. Next shipment is end of Aug. With Grand baby coming soon we want something better than the surgical masks.
3M n95 respirators, n100 respirators masks, NIOSH particulate respirators, respiratory protection - buyingdirect.ca
Prices seem pretty cheap but I see that a lot of products are not available.
