:eek::eek::eek:
oh no00
Mexico needs to shut that border
The media spun this in a weird way. These are American citizens who live across the border in Mexico. They cross the border daily already to go to work and most receive their medical care in the US already. The media makes it sound like the citizens of Mexico are crashing the border and flooding US hospitals. That simply is not true.

What kind of masks? I bought KN95, likely not up to standards, but I think they are still better than regular cloth masks. For one, they provide a better fit. They also can be tested by several tests. I did water tests on mine and they hold water just fine. Obviously a doctor or a nurse in a hospital shouldn't wear those masks if they are not up to the standards, but I still think they are better than cloth masks regular folks are supposed to wear.

Yea, some strange claims were coming out of Europe. Like two Italian doctors claiming that covid became much weaker. Well, it doesn't seem to be becoming weaker in the US. It certainly is spreading just fine. Hospitalizations are also up, which means people are getting sick enough that they are admitted into hospitals and ICUs.
I haven't seen any kind of study that shows SARS-2 has mutated in any appreciable way. It would be nice, though.

i am going to consider that-- need to talk to hubby and get more info.---

Insist that he get tested...if it’s unpleasant enough, it might cure him from taking risks. :D

I will sound like a broken record but the entire problem we are facing is lack of leadership from the very top. Lack of coorindination from the federal government. A
crisis like this demands that kind of leadership; without it, there is chaos, as we are seeing.

As I posted the other day...this is a war. You don’t force individual states to fight a literal war on their own, but that’s exactly what has happened with the coronavirus war. If coronavirus was a government we were fighting against, they’d be planning their victory parades.

Neither do I. In fact, the mask must be fit well enough that you don't need to en-train room air from around the sides. Entrained room air has a higher speed and pressure to pull in viral particles.

I just bought a box of masks to keep in my car, and I found them to be worthless as protection from the virus. Ideally, I'd wear a face shield over a well fitted mask. Our eyes are so vulnerable.

why are they worthless? did you catch the virus?

I bought a visor off amazon. It's dark purple in color so you can't even see what underneath it. So I can wear all kind of masks under it.

ooooooh I want a purple one

Nope. I don't even think there were any major protests in Florida. Florida's problem was a full month of Spring Break in March and still allowing vacationers in April, not closing any beaches, not closing bars or restaurants, a mid-shutdown in April but people still went out and about without masks to beaches and parks. Florida is hot, they don't want to sit in the air conditioning all day. Also, not all Florida beaches were shut down, people were traveling all over the state to open beaches, which were very crowded. In May, the Governor saw an uptick in cases and tried to blame in on people escaping NY and NJ. But now he blames it on the "young" people he opened those beaches, bars and restaurants to and not requiring masks at all, still to this day.

And forever just blamed it on more tests were done.... Trust me there are NOT enough tests in Florida...

SC governor holding a press conference in 15 minutes, if anyone is interested.

WATCH LIVE: Gov. McMaster, state health officials holding presser on COVID-19

Stern lecture from our governor. We have given him no choice but to continue current restrictions because of our spiking infections. So, no gatherings, no concerts, no performing arts, no high school football, no college football, no spectator sports, nightclubs, movie theaters until we get our act together.

Warned people/businesses that they are criminally and civilly liable for infections/deaths at their events or businesses if they violate his mandates.

Supports local communities that are issuing mandatory masking. Will not make masks a statewide mandate. Says one size does not fit all and local jurisdictions know better than he does what is going on locally.

Nothing new as far as policy. Just a basic dressing down of the SC populous.

They are going from Mexico into US, so it US that would need to do something. But most of them are US citizens (per the link), so can US refuse them entry?

I see after I scanned the article that a lot of U.S. citizens actually live in Mexico. Oh boy that's a conundrum.

Every newspaper in the state says the same thing... Protesters wore masks, and went home.

They did NOT hang around bars, nightclubs and beaches.
I do think it’s strange they can say protests haven’t caused a rise in cases but hey that’s great news for July 4th.

Large protests not responsible for rise in Florida's COVID-19 cases, state health experts say

I’d take my chances at a 4th of July celebration over a protest any day. Not likely to have people spitting in your face.

If there’s no uptick in cases because of protests  then we can expect there won’t be an uptick caused by rallies or 4th of July events. ;)

Don’t relax your guard though. I mentioned yesterday, I think, that an uptick in my rural southern Oregon county and the one adjoining were traced mostly to two parties with 15-30 people each and visitors from out-of-state hot spots mingling in groups. We are on the CA border, so I assume that’s where they came from, perhaps to attend graduation parties IMO. We did have some fairly small protests by urban standards, but most of the cases could be traced to these two parties. So even the July 4th backyard BBQ can be problematic...never mind rallies and larger events like at Mt Rushmore.

This article described the tests you can do on your KN95 at home.
"You’ll want to confirm that the respirator face mask you’re relying on is reliable, but it’s unlikely that you’ve got access to the laboratory-level testing equipment that OSHA uses to set their N95 quality standards. These standards can be applied to the KN95 face masks, as well, as both provide a minimum of 95% airborne particle filtration."

I picked up two KN95's but maybe I should've got more. I just assumed it was counterfeit lol.

There’s a don’t ask, don’t tell policy when it comes to contact tracing and protests. That makes it’s easy to say there is no uptick in covid caused by protests, but that defies all logic. IMO
ha! ha! ha! Thats a funny statement!! Florida has absolutely no clue to how to develop let alone manage a track and trace program!! There are NONE here... that work. A couple of counties tried it and gave up.

The way I understand it, it has nothing to do with contact tracing. They are not seeing an uptick when looking at overall testing and hospitalizations.

Pretty much nationally...not just Florida... It has nothing to with contact tracing either..because no one can get the hang of how to do it. Though there are plenty of good ones internationally.

Besides going to work when I can't work remotely and getting a few essentials that I can't order online I'm staying put these days. I'm not messing around with this stuff. It's a good thing home is my favorite place to be :)
