This job could take between 5 and 8 hours-- i dont think i want to spend
most of the day outside- they are going to be in the basement most of the day,
and the rest of the time outside

That's quite awhile in your basement. Service people who go into private homes should have regular covid tests.

Facebook will start telling you to wear a mask to prevent the spread of coronavirus

Facebook announced Thursday it will start recommending that people wear face coverings when out in public as coronavirus cases spike in the United States.

Both Facebook and Instagram users will see an alert at the top of their feeds that encourage wearing masks and direct users to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for additional information.

The development comes as Covid-19 cases spike across the country. More than 2.68 million coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the United States as of Thursday, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

That’s led regulators in 21 states and Washington, D.C., to mandate that people wear masks, though the regulations vary from state to state. Numerous health experts have said masks could save lives by helping prevent the spread of the virus.
Ha! I hope this will cause all the anti-maskers to boycott FB and delete their accounts, making it a much more pleasant place to be.

I appeciate your input-- in most situations i try to be reasonable--i hope they dont
have to use the rest room but it is possible--:sigh

noooo...gah...no rest room!
How long will the job take?

you probably shouldn’t have asked me Lol cuz I swear I’m not trying to freak you out. If it were me, like I did, I would let them know I’m very concerned about COVID. If they know that, they may be less likely to ask to use the restroom. I know, throw tomatoes at me. I hid in my bedroom and told the workers to text with questions. They texted to ask if they could access the bathroom and I told them no lol.

Gah.

Sorry I am not a fan of the restroom thing. Sounds like there may be no choice. Well, do you have one in the basement or a guest bathroom? Do not go in there for 3 hours. It’s a small space and reports do not paint restrooms in a positive light. Jmo

I watched CNN Special Report from inside a Texas Hospital and the Doctor said his patients are much younger, in their 20s as opposed to age 50/60. Back in March/April, this population in their 20s was deemed largely 'safe'. Either being Asymptomatic or displaying mild symptoms at most. They do seem to be gravely ill in Texas though. It seems the virus is much more aggressive in them just now. It's very worrying to me X

I’m in denial. I think wearing masks will become more of a long term trend for many on things like trains, buses, even planes and in areas that are super crowded. Like in some Asian nations.

But I still feel very optimistic that this is going to get better, either through running it’s course to some degree, herd immunity through contagion and vaccines, better treatments and more targeted tracing and isolation of break outs, in the future.

I do feel positive. As long as we start to try to get on board and be a community, no matter what, I think we can weather the storm until things get better. I do believe things will get better, and not years from now, either.

Humans are very adaptable and we have a ton of smart, committed, experts working on this.
I'm with you on remaining optimistic. We are in for some tough times for the next few months but we are all resilient and adaptable (even if we complain like mad). I never could have imagined seeing Times Square empty ...yet it was, because we were all doing what we were supposed to do.

My city (Adelaide) is testing a potential covid vac, developed here ... human trials have just commenced on 40 volunteers.
As well, Melbourne has been conducting human trials since late May on a US developed potential vaccine.

The vaccine candidate was developed by Adelaide-based company Vaxine, which has laboratories at Flinders University.
Another potential vaccine, developed in the US, made it to the human trials stage in Melbourne in late May.

But Vaxine research director Professor Nikolai Petrovsky said the human trials beginning in Adelaide today were the first for a vaccine developed in the southern hemisphere.

"Our COVID-19 vaccine is based on a synthetic protein which is produced in insect cells, so it doesn't require people to be given a virus."

https://www.reviewgeek.com/46635/wa...-in-theaters-in-its-parking-lots-this-summer/

With the ongoing pandemic, heading to the movie theater may seem like a risky proposition. Drive-in theaters are the perfect solution, except that they’re a rare beast to find. That may change, though, as Walmart plans to open up drive-in theaters in its parking lots.

Walmart says there will be popcorn and beverage service, and that it’ll be family-friendly theaters. With everyone staying in cars, social distancing should be easier to maintain.

The pair of companies didn’t offer any more details, like timing, pricing, or movie showings, but we’ll keep you updated as the information becomes available. In the meantime, Walmart set up a drive-in website with promises of updates soon.
I think it would be lovely if the old drive-ins made a come-back and continued to do business after this pandemic is over.

Give them a coffee can and send them to their truck or the bushes.

Lol! I would. Poor guys.

We can not forget about APVLD (“Aerosol Plumes of Virus-Laden Dhiarrea), as seen with the Hong Kong SARS cluster in the residential building, as well as other reports. Moo. I’m sorry ilovewings, I feel terrible bc I’m not trying to freak you out. But this is the truth. Do Know that if they use your restroom you should keep out of there for a while if you can, then after maximum time has gone by, then clean the hell out of it jmo. It’s a small enclosed area so opportunity for respiratory droplets to linger, as well as settle, opportunities for surfaces to be touched, etc.

Maybe call them ahead, tell them you’re very concerned. I would, moo. Again, sorry I know this is hard and I’m not trying to freak you out, just hope all risks, no matter how small, can be minimized.

But things did go back to relatively normal in about a year. Of course people were changed by it. Sadly, some forever as they lost their lives or lost loved ones.

But that ended and it got better and this will too. I know it.
RSBM
However, people had also just gone through the world-changing experience of WWI, there wasn't much normal to go back to. The number of deaths from the pandemic in the US was far less than the number of soldiers killed in battle, not to mention the millions who had joined up and put themselves at risk of death. I think the public sense was that the pandemic was just another feature of the 'War to end all wars', which was, thankfully, over. Meanwhile the economy was booming, so there was no sense of fear about the future.

I even called the workers the day before and asked if they had forensic booties but they didn’t.

IMO workers should have these. Real estate agents, etc. do.

In the beginning I was very optimistic like this. I truly believed that by now most of us would have found new ways of being, learned new things about ourselves, taken the time and/or solitude to improve ourselves, and found unique ways to maintain a sense of community. But shoot, before a month was out, people were stressing about their roots and lack of mani/pedi. So I’m not optimistic about us getting onboard as a community, not when this country has managed to turn something like masks political.

I have found the "snooze for 30 days" button VERY useful!
Yes, but like the snooze button at home, I find myself hitting that sucker again immediately after the first snooze is up!

Me, too. But for some reason, I don't want to unfriend them. Conflict avoidant, that's me.

i think all people that deal with the public should be routinely tested. Unfortunately that is not being done.
