I just don’t understand what the point is for this to happen. What is the hoped for outcome? Is it political? Is it rebellious? Is it simply stupid with no thought out process? Is it “look at us having a great time....and no one got covid”? I’m not even political so I’m not bashing anyone. I’m just truly confused. It’s like brain cells have been replaced by slugs that have had salt poured on them. *scratching my head*
Cannot believe the July 4 celebration will go on in D.C. Masks optional. 7000 expected.

D.C. mayor says she has no jurisdiction because the celebration will be held on federal property.

Despite pandemic, Trump promoting July 4th fireworks in DC over mayor's objections

@ilovewings

We had workers in our basement and my husband stood at the door with his mask on, pointing to it before he let them in. One went back out to the van to get his. We gave the second guy a disposable one. For your safety, it matters more that they are wearing them, than it matters if you are.

For your safety, I would insist on it while they are inside.

i think all people that deal with the public should be routinely tested. Unfortunately that is not being done.

Perhaps when the covid 'breathaliser' has been developed, testing will become easier, quicker, and the public capability to test 'their own' will be possible.
And hopefully the cost of it will kept minimal so everyone can use it.

Public Health Considerations

For any viewing location, the public is asked to help prevent the spread of infectious diseases by following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for events and public gatherings:

Protesters. Moo

Is that you, Donald? :D

It's not more testing, don't fall for that one; the US is falling down the testing per capita list so the massive rise in cases is extremely disproportionate. There's 5 times the population of the UK but almost 100 times the number of new cases today.

(and yeah, I know our death rate is horrible and people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones and blah blah blah, but numbers is numbers)

I don’t understand your logic here. If all those other countries have tested more of their population, why aren’t we also seeing their case rates double/triple within a few weeks? Do you reckon it’s imminent in the UK? That we’ll see a massive case increase any day now?

I’m just trying to figure out why it’s so high and I don’t think it’s just “more testing” because otherwise we’d all see the same pattern.

It's Friday here! And on Saturday, Earth Wind and Fire are having an online dance party to celebrate the 4th July. I am going to be there. :)

Earth, Wind & Fire

oh yaaaaaayyyyyy!!!! I’m going
to get in on this too! Thanks for posting!!!!

This job could take between 5 and 8 hours-- i dont think i want to spend
most of the day outside- they are going to be in the basement most of the day,
and the rest of the time outside

I took my dog, his food and water, and some snacks and camped out in my bedroom all day lol.

I do that when we have workers in the house. My partner has this quaint trust that workers will be careful about not letting the critters out. I don't share his optimism.

I appeciate your input-- in most situations i try to be reasonable--i hope they dont
have to use the rest room but it is possible--:sigh
If they are there 5-8 hours, they will need to use a restroom. Whatever is the closest one that way they don’t have to go thru your whole house to get to one. Paper towels and bottle soap out for them.

Our guy used disposable booties too.

If working on electrical, they might have to take off gloves for a bit. Those gloves make your hands sweat like crazy.

Avoid signing any paperwork with pens or even using your finger on an iPad.
Tell them to email the bill.

The coronavirus may have mutated to become more infectious, Dr. Anthony Fauci says

The coronavirus has mutated in a way that might help the pathogen spread more easily, White House health advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci said Thursday.

Research is underway to confirm the possible mutation and its implications, Fauci said, adding that “there’s a little dispute about it.” Viruses naturally mutate and scientists have previously said they have observed minor mutations in the coronavirus that have not impacted its ability to spread or cause disease in any significant way.

The possible mutation that Fauci cited was reported on by investigators at Los Alamos National Laboratory in an article published by the journal Cell earlier Thursday. Virologists at Scripps Research in Florida also wrote about the mutation last month, saying it “enhances viral transmission.” It’s unclear when the mutation might have occurred.

Our postal service and others have been signing paperwork on our behalf. As long as we are standing there (socially distanced) in front of them, it is all legit.

Welp, I guess that explains the mask mandate.

Yet, iirc, they had rising numbers when they opened. I remember thinking to myself it was a bad time to reopen. The numbers and trends were not in alignment with the strategies for proper phased openings.

Again, it a such a hard dynamic because people have to work, and sustain the economy. But I’m willing to bet that much transmission occurs during elective activities, which we have seen wrt to bars and gatherings.

Re: the economy, the better and sooner and more aggressively we reduce transmission, the better for our economy. Now it’s just worse for many businesses, having to shut down AGAIN.

I don't know anyone who feels that this is a hoax or that it is a conspiracy. We are happy to be coming out of lockdown though after 3 months.

they're everywhere

i figure if we sign paperwork and use our credit card to pay, we will
just really wash our hands really well: i believe if you wash your
hands after a transaction, that is the important thing--i will also
disinfect the kitchen table and chair and throw the pen away

Crazy conspiracy theory's are not allowed on this thread so this is one place where you won't find them.

We know you had more than that in your bedroom, unless those snacks were edibles.

These people who publicly say stuff like this and then get COVID...SMH. They victimize themselves. It’s really difficult to feel sorry for such people.

uh huh
