Whenever there is a high risk of fire, we don't have fireworks in those high risk areas. In our region, it happens about every 5 yrs or so.

Hopefully this won't evolve from our president burning down the country figuratively to burning it down literally.

Seriously tresir, a hoard of 7000 people from who knows where, sitting on chairs strapped together, with no social distancing, and doubtful use of masks. What could possibly go wrong?

It is normal procedure to have single chairs joined together. You obviously haven't been to events like that or prepared them yourself, but it is normal. I have done that. That seating was not for 7000 anyway, that I could tell. I will post a live stream hopefully below. But please don't watch it if it is too worrying.

It is the same date every year though and that hasn't stopped fireworks all over the country before, to my knowledge.

They haven’t had fireworks or low flying jets there in 11 years when it has been deemed too risky and a fire hazard.

During those 11 events at least 20 documented wildfires were ignited by the fireworks in the middle of the wildfire season.

The trash dropped by the exploding shells onto the Monument and the forest can never be completely picked up. Left on the ground are unexploded shells, wadding, plastic, ash, pieces of the devices, and paper; stuff that can never be totally removed in the very steep, rocky, rugged terrain.

According to the latest data from Johns Hopkins University, the cases have grown by 5 percent or more compared to last week in 40 states across the country. The new numbers only show that the United States is far from the peak that most had previously thought. Aside from that, tests administered in 36 states have returned positive, further compounding woes of the rising coronavirus numbers, the Associated Press reported.
With the latest tally from Johns Hopkins University, the numbers show twice as much in the daily total compared to the past month. Of all the U.S. states, only 10 have not reported an increase in COVID-19 cases. The regions most affected are Arizona, Texas and Florida. With the development, bars, movie houses and restaurants were either closed down or clamped due to the rising cases. So far, only Nebraska and South Dakota were the regions registering a downward trend.

Arizona revealed a new spike in cases and deaths on Wednesday. There were nearly 4,900 new COVID-19 cases and 80 deaths. Intensive care units were at 89 percent capacity. Arizona was one of the states that had to roll back state reopening plans. Bars, gyms and water parks were ordered closed once more with the surging coronavirus numbers.
The same practice is spreading across the country. California has ordered the closure of businesses with indoor operations. The order applies to the state’s biggest counties such as Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino and Santa Barbara.

“We can’t be under any illusion that this virus is going to go away on its own. Our expectation is that next week our numbers will be worse. It will take several weeks for the mitigation that we have put in place and are putting in place to take effect,” Gov. Doug Ducey said.

Flu isn't spreading much in a summer, so there was hope this virus would behave the same way. It doesn't.

But it is proved to spread via A/C which is prevalent in hot southern states such as Florida, Texas and Arizona. And this virus is constantly surprising still.

Great and inforamtive article: how Dr. Fauci and five other health specialists deal with Covid in their everyday lives. One of the things I was interested in is bringing packages and groceries into the home and how they handle that. None of these medical people
disinfect or wash the packages or groceries: they wait a day to use whatever is in the package and they wash their hands after handling the packages. I wash all my groceries with soap and water-- I hate doing it and I believe when they say transmission is not known to occur this way but I just feel more comfortable washing groceries that come into my home. they also talk about handling mail, going to the hair salon, the gym and handling doctor appointments. Very interesting.
