How's this for brain mush.

I did my federal taxes online, and paid at the time of submission electronically to draft my account.

I then did my state taxes, and printed out all the forms and all of the estimated taxes which were due (from
april and june) I then wrote out all the checks, and put them in the mail.

Today, I open up my banking app and realize that I paid my BIG 1040 federal tax TWICE! Once by electronic, and second time by rote habit of writing out and mailing the check.

Thousands of dollars I am out. I tried calling IRS, but hahahaha busy and couldn't get through as tomorrow is the deadline.

Do you think they will catch and auto refund me, or am I going to have to wait months to get my thousands of dollars back.

grrrrrrr :banghead :
Can you stop payment on the check? Or you did this a while ago. Sorry..misunderstood. Thought you just recently sent them in. We waited til the very last minute in case there was a tax break as the next possible stimulus.

Not sure if this was posted and I missed it.
It's gross, but may very well be a good indicator for widespread infection.

LONDON — Poop doesn’t lie.
"there is data within our wastewater," said one researcher"

"raising hopes that the sewage could become an early warning system — a canary in a coal mine of sorts — for new outbreaks."
Why sewers are the next frontier in the fight against COVID-19

Would you be willing to pay more, knowing the extra time that is involved for each client?

I wonder if folks would pay more for restaurant meals too. Would they be satisfied with smaller plates? I've had restaurant meals served to me that were so huge they'd feed my family of six. Restaurants have to adapt or die. Is this one way they will need to adapt?

Yes, I would. She is very good at her trade and has always charged accordingly, but a few dollars more would be very accepted by her clients, I am sure.

I think one of the safe things about her salon is that she works alone. It truly minimises any risk.

I didn't mention earlier that when she was little and living in South Africa, she caught swine flu. I think that makes her very aware of the dangers of this pandemic.

Japan accuses China of spreading 'disinformation' during coronavirus

Jemma Carr For Mailonline

...
Japan has accused China of spreading 'propaganda' and 'disinformation' during the coronavirus pandemic in a scathing annual defence review.

The alleged 'disinformation' included online claims that the virus was brought to China by a US military member and that Chinese herbal remedies could treat the disease.

The claims came out amid the 'social uncertainties and confusion' of the pandemic, Japan said in the defence white paper approved by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's government on Tuesday.

It comes as respected Chinese virologist Dr Yan Li-Meng warned that 'we don't have much time' to stop the pandemic.
...
Yan - who said she has been forced to flee Hong Kong because she 'knows how they treat whistleblowers' - claimed Beijing knew about the novel coronavirus well before it claims.

She told Fox News: 'I want the US people to understand how terrible this is.'

She added: 'We have to chase the true evidence and get the real evidence because this is a key part to stop this pandemic. We don't have much time.'

In an earlier interview, Yan said that her supervisors - many renowned as some of the top experts in their field - ignored research she began undertaking from the onset of the outbreak, which ultimately led to the global Covid-19 pandemic.

China - which has a 85,117 cases and 4,641 official deaths from coronavirus - has been accused of lying and covering up key information during virtually every stage of its Covid-19 response - from the initial outbreak to the number of cases and deaths, observers, experts and politicians have warned.

Beijing initially tried to cover up the virus by punishing medics who discovered it, denying it could spread person-to-person and delaying a lockdown of affected regions - meaning early opportunities to control the spread were lost.

Coronavirus deaths are up 46% across the US

Coronavirus deaths are up 46% across the US

Emily Crane For Dailymail.com

Deaths related to COVID-19 have increased across the United States by 46 percent in the past week with Texas, Arizona and Mississippi reporting the biggest weekly spikes.

More than 5,000 people died from COVID-19 between July 6 and July 12, which is an increase of 46 percent compared to the previous week, according to a Reuters analysis of data from The COVID Tracking Project.

About a dozen states have reported increases in deaths for at least two straight weeks, including California, Florida and Texas.

New cases also continue to rise with the US reporting over 400,000 infections for the week ending July 12, which was up 21 percent from the previous seven days.

Nationally, new COVID-19 cases have risen every week for six straight weeks.

Forty-six states reported more new cases of COVID-19 last week compared to
the previous week, the analysis found.

Ugh.

FEMA Sends Texas 14 Mobile Morgues As Coronavirus Death Counts Rise

FEMA told TPM that it is sending 14 “mortuary support units” to Texas in response to a July 11 request from the state’s department of emergency management. The units, a FEMA spokesperson said, “are in transit and should arrive at the state by early next week.”

Local officials in Texas have been agitating for the mobile morgues as death counts rise.

“I am now having to order additional body bags and morgue trailers. People have to understand how real it is,” Barbara Canales, Judge of Texas’s Nueces County, told a Corpus Christi TV station last week.

The orders mark the pandemic’s severity. After weeks of rising cases, followed by rising hospitalizations, hard-hit states’ death rates have also started to rise — a lagging indicator that reflects the time it takes to die of the virus and the stress that healthcare systems face in treating waves of patients.

I really don't think the whole school re-opening thing is going to work out well. jmo

36 Lake Zurich High School students test positive for COVID-19

36 students at Lake Zurich High School have tested positive for the coronavirus after a cluster of cases were identified at the school’s sports camps.

The Lake County Health Department said they continue to work closely with Lake Zurich School District 95 after a COVID-19 outbreak was identified among participants of school athletic camps and recent social gatherings.

Lake Zurich School District 95 sent a letter to all athletic camp participants last week warning of the outbreak.

Multiple student-athletes tested positive for COVID-19 following the first day of Lake Zurich High School sports camps on July 6. Several student-athletes also failed temperature screenings at the camp.

Since then, 36 students at the school have tested positive for the virus, the Lake County Health Department announced Tuesday afternoon.

A mobile testing site was brought to the high school on Sunday. 355 people were tested throughout the day on Sunday at the school’s mobile testing site, which resulted in long wait times.

All athletic camps, including football, poms and baseball, remain suspended at the school.

The Illinois Department of Public Health and Lake County Health Department asked all student-athletes who participated in the camps to self-quarantine for 14 days.

Coronavirus outbreak seen in Victoria and NSW is actually Australia's first COVID-19 wave, expert says

Professor Nick Talley, Editor-in-Chief of the Australian Medical Journal, said the outbreaks in the two states are actually the first wave of the virus in the pandemic.

“People talk about the 2nd #coronavirus WAVE. It’s NOT the 2nd in Australia,” he said on Twitter.

“We essentially never had serious community #COVID transmission. Until now.

Blackburn brings in extra Covid-19 measures

Image captionMass testing in Blackburn began at the weekend following a spike in infections
New measures to curb the spread of Covid-19 in Blackburn with Darwen have been introduced after a spike in cases.

For the next month, people living within the Lancashire authority must observe the rules in a bid to avoid a Leicester-style local lockdown.

The new measures include tighter limits on visitors from another household, and officials have called on people to bump elbows in place of handshakes and hugs.

Mass testing began at the weekend after 61 new cases sprang up within a week.

Lockdown 'real possibility'
Residents are being told to wear cloth face coverings in all enclosed public spaces, including workplaces, libraries, museums, health centres and hair and beauty salons.

Blackburn with Darwen's public health director, Prof Dominic Harrison, also called for people only to bump elbows with anyone outside their immediate family.

He said public protection advice for small shops was being stepped up to ensure social distancing was being observed.

Targeted testing is taking place in the borough, and residents have been told they do not need to have symptoms to be tested.

Prof Harrison said: "These steps will help and we are appealing to everyone in Blackburn with Darwen to follow them to protect themselves and their loved ones.

"If we don't, a local lockdown, like in Leicester, becomes a very real possibility."

Yes, at least several of us have thought that Trudeau is just going to keep rolling the border closure over for 30 days, and then 30 more days, and then 30 more days ...... until the US gets this virus under control.

As he should. Sad to say.

It's the only sensible thing.

I really hate this for you. First of all, good luck in getting an actual person to talk to. I think, like 10ofRods suggested, an amended return is probably the best way to go. I am certainly not an accountant, just MOO!

Can you put a stop payment on the check?

Number one that would be illegal, number two it already processed and that's how I knew it happened.
