A reporter asked Kellyanne Conway if the President intended to send his child back to his private school. Conway answered, "That's a personal decision."

IMO if there is no YES answer, why would the rest of the country be willing to send their children back to school?
Kellyanne Conway Won't Say if Barron Trump Returns to School
I think that there are a lot of parents that want to send their children back to school this fall at either public or private schools.

I doubt that any of them are going to base their feelings on this from what Barrons parents decide to do.

I may know exactly how you feel. I know everyone has an opinion, and they feel very strongly about their own opinion and things have become so divisive these days.

I really hate it hurt people's feelings with my opinions. I had a neighbor call me last night and her brother-in-law passed away. Her sister is having a funeral and they expect over 200 people. In Charleston South Carolina. My neighbor was very concerned because she is elderly and had cancer and has been isolating. But her family is making her feel very guilty. She just wants to go to the graveside but not the funeral itself inside with all those people.

She, like me, hates to hurt people's feelings. And sometimes just stating her opinion hurts them and she scared she's going to have a family issue by stating her beliefs.

It is such sad times these days, and I like you, don't know what to say sometimes. And when I do express it, it comes across wrong and perhaps hurts other people's feelings.

We have seen reports of transmissions via funerals. Lots of them.

I have a family member who has cancer and he told me that when it happens, we will say goodbye via FaceTime, and when this pandemic is over family can get together and have whatever post-ceremony and get togethers we want. But not until then.

I don’t think any deceased person would want people, especially their own loved ones, to get together and risk their own lives, and others’ lives, and further instigate a pandemic, all on his/her account. I wouldn’t. I know it’s really hard to have to wait on a ceremony, sucks. But it’s just where we are right now. Nobody should pressure anyone or use guilt tactics in such a dangerous situation. I’d be respectfully assertive. I’ve been invited to some sort of graduation ceremony, and you can bet I’ll be giving them a very gracious and polite, yet firm declination.

Presser right now ....

Victoria Premier: (their numbers are high, but 217 new cases are better than over 400 the prior day, they still feel that they are in trouble)

1,278,000 tests to date.
This is not an ordinary weekend, stay home.
It's frustrating, it's challenging ... we cannot be finding reasons, inventing reasons, to travel away from home.
It is not only frail aged Victorians, there is a growing number of otherwise-healthy younger people all around the world who have passed away.
Growing evidence of lingering effects, chronic conditions.
Congratulations to all who are doing the right thing.
Some people are making choices that are about them and not about the community.
I don't want to put in even tougher rules.
We have to find that 'covid normal'.

I just googled "USA lots of parents want to send their children back to school".

No results.

All that came up were great concerns and indecision by parents, and leaders encouraging the return to school.

There was one article (Berkeley County SC) saying that 66% of parents say in-person instruction is best, but only some are sending their children back to school, others are wavering. Many feel they don't have enough information.

UPDATED Coronavirus tracker: 3.3M seniors live with school-aged children creating public health hurdle

“Getting their hands on personal protective equipment isn’t just a lingering issue for hospitals.”

[...]

“The issue around PPE comes as physician practices are trying to get patients to return to their offices to get needed screenings and immunizations that have been put off due to the pandemic.

“We are very concerned even though physician doors might be open their patients are afraid to come in,” Bailey said.“

Thank you! I needed to hear this tonight, Kali. Got a fever last night, ears feeling achy tonight. Have an appointment to be tested at 10am tomorrow. They tell me I'll get results in 6 to 10 days.

Wishing you a safe peaceful night as well!
Will be thinking of you, hope you feel better soon. (6-10 days? Wow.)

It's natural to wonder what the leaders are doing, of course. As opposed to what they might be saying. Some people hold it to be a standard of honesty to speak and act in the same manner.

Ugh, My Costco Instacart shopper just refunded me Paper towels and toilet papers. (I was stocking up)
People may be hoarding again.
In Southern California.

I just had several pantry items refunded via Walmart and Target, soup, canned fruit, broth.

@pocketaccent, try Walmart online for the paper goods.

Yeah, 6 to 10 days waiting on results. These longer wait times seem to be getting to be more of the norm these days in many places. This is not good.

Wishing you the best, @Rose in SC. I hope you get to feeling better soon. I’m sure you know to quarantine as you await your results. Keep us posted on how you’re feeling, please, in the meantime, if you’re up to it. Hugs.

I hear you, but I bet it's probably pretty safe to say that they want it. Plenty of kids thrive outside of the school walls, but I believe most non-homeschooling parents want their kids to have the same normal childhood experience they grew up with, and I doubt that all online is best for most kids. Plus, I'm sure many are worried about having the older kids unsupervised, even if the younger ones get in-person education.

Absolutely no research to back it up - just talking from experiences as a parent and a teacher. But I also agree that the unknown is scary for so many parents, which is why districts have to provide the leadership that is otherwise lacking.

2 in 3 Parents Would Send Kids to School in Fall: Survey

TUESDAY, June 30, 2020 (HealthDay News) -- About two-thirds of U.S. parents say they'll send their kids to school again this fall, and most also support COVID-19 testing and social distancing policies for schoolchildren, a new survey finds.

Among parents, only about 12% said they would not send at least one of their kids to school, while 21% were still uncertain about their decision. Many are waiting to hear more about their schools' plans.

.

As each new learning comes about it is all coming together.

The youtube lecture below is one of the best, and does cover the connection to blood types.. mOst doctors are now in agreement regarding effects of ACE2, and the creation of oxidative stress at the cellular level. If you get the true understanding of his diagrams AND the role of vWF.... it will truly show WHY there is the connection to blood types. AND why obesity is such a comorbidity.

Truly good to understand vWF--von Willibrand Factor, and how it is killing folks.

So, thank you for this! I got some education, and lesson ideas. However, I now feel the need to watch all 96 (and counting)!

maybe we should share the testicular pain story so that all the reluctant men in the world will rethink masks

"Many parents said they had no choice but to send their children to school because they had to work."

"Families are facing a challenging decision regarding whether to send their children to school for in-person classes in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic," said researcher Dr. Kao-Ping Chua, a pediatrician at Michigan Medicine C.S. Mott Children's Hospital.

"On the one hand, sending children to school could increase the risk of COVID-19 among children and family members. On the other hand, children who don't return to in-person school may experience disruptions in their education," Chua said. "Some families simply don't have a choice because they need to go to work."

Valid concerns that I'm sure parents consider when deciding what is best for their kids.

Yes, I don't think that they want to send their children back to school in the middle of a raging pandemic (at least I hope it is the middle and not just somewhere in the beginning stages), just that some of them have little economic choice. And it seems many of them feel they don't have enough information to make a well-informed decision.

Tough predicament with little govt support (temporary rent/mortgage freezes, for example).

No I disagree. I think that there are many who are well informed and have come to the conclusion that sending their kids to school is the right thing to do.
