Well, that is messed up. I checked Victoria's powers today, to see what happens if their Chief Health Officer mandates wearing a mask (he is saying he may do that, if everyone doesn't comply). He has the power to bring enforceable rules if it is a matter of public health safety.

Florida Governor touts questionable research

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis applauded positive results from antibody testing, calling it a "good sign." But scientists disagree. Antibody tests determine whether a person had Covid-19 in the past, after the infection's cleared. "That creates resistance in terms of the ability for the disease to spread," DeSantis said at a press conference.

However, researchers including the WHO have repeatedly said there's no evidence to show that prior infection and developing antibodies make someone immune to future infection.

Last week, a Spain government study suggested that coronavirus antibodies wane after a few weeks. A smaller British study released prior to peer review suggests antibody response may start to decline within a month.

And the CDC has echoed a similar sentiment. "We do not know how much protection the antibodies may provide or how long this protection may last," it says on its website.

I’m still reeling from this post. As if Florida could get any worse or needs more problems.

Now we may have people falsely thinking they’re immune. This is BAD.

Yes, I know. I am following closely. The Vic Chief Health Officer is annoyed that some are still not wearing masks. On the 5pm news he said that he will mandate masks if everyone doesn't comply. He is hesitant to do that right now, because he is appealing to people's common sense, and their sense of community.

After coronavirus test result mix up, staff member who tested positive returned to Massachusetts school

A Westwood Public Schools employee who was working at Downey Elementary School with students over the summer has tested positive for COVID-19, after initially being told her test was negative.

While she was working at the school when she started to show symptoms on July 3 COVID-19 test and stayed home from work. When the results came back she was told that she was all clear and could return to work.

Her medical provider then called back telling her she'd been misinformed about her results and she was actually positive for the virus.


“We share the community’s concern that a staff member in our summer program has tested positive for coronavirus. We want to emphasize that her exposure to students was limited to a three-hour block, during which time she was properly outfitted with PPE,” Superintendent Emily J. Parks said in a statement to CBS.

Someone in my town found an old ordinance that makes wearing any type of mask illegal in my town. It's still on the books. It will take the council meeting and repealing it to get rid of it. There is literally nothing the police can do if we get a mask mandate, as it isn't a law. Other than suggest to mask up, please. They're ignoring the old ordinance for now. Jmo

States and LE need clear laws and enforcement measures to be affective.

Actually Virginia has a current active law prohibiting mask for those over the age of 16. So of course I looked it up and sure enough a public health emergency is considered a wavior.

Memo: RNC to limit public attendance for first three days in Jacksonville

A Jacksonville city official involved in the planning said that TIAA Bank Field, where the Jaguars play, is connected to Daily's Place Amphitheater. They were told in a planning meeting late Wednesday that they plan to use the amphitheater, in addition to a very large outdoor attached space, which is now the tented Jaguar practice field.

"They are looking for as many big tents as possible because it can rain every day," the official said.

Glad to hear that you are doing that. I saw footage of the city shops in Melbourne. The majority of people were wearing masks.

The few that weren't wearing them and were interviewed said "Too claustrophobic" "Too expensive" "I just stepped out to have a coffee"

i can't say that has been my experience here but maybe somewhere its like that in melbourne, iv been to some of the bigger mall type shopping centers recently and i'd say only 30% of people are wearing masks, its actually a little self conscious wearing it because a lot of others don't and me and my wife look odd but i don't want corona virus and i don't want to spread it either in case either of us have it

some areas of melbourne are different they have a different demographic, like the east for instance it has a high Asian population and they have been wearing masks the whole time, i think they are used to it from their home country

• Hospitals in one city are full: In South Texas, hospitals in Laredo are full and the federal government is converting a hotel into a health care facility.

France makes wearing masks mandatory for people in indoor public spaces

Wearing masks in indoor public spaces in France will be mandatory from next week, French Prime Minister Jean Castex told the country's Senate.

The government was considering implementing the new rule on August 1, but Castex said he had “heard and understood that this deadline seemed too late."

The PM added that wearing masks was an "efficient protective measure” against coronavirus.

The government has joined other European nations in changing its stance on wearing protective masks.

Encouraging the public to wear masks has since become part of the government's coronavirus strategy. Wearing masks is already mandatory for people using public transport in France.

because as sad and frustrating as it is i can assure you a majority are not wearing masks down here, probably because its not mandated

if you check some local forums like WP you'll see in their covid vic thread the people in there are saying the same thing, they don't see a lot of masks either

I know admission, ICU beds, ventilators in use are included for Virginia VHHA website. I don't remember seeing national data from hospitals in the new specific requirements.

I think most of the data will be available with maybe an exception for how much Remdesivir is on hand by hospital.

There is no public access to the data on TeleTracking or HHS. Trust me, I spent the better part of yesterday trying.

I guess for now we'll have to rely on JH, WorldOmeters and WorldInData type sites that pull data directly from county and state public health sites and compile them into national databases for us. jmo
