What I intended to say.... The mood changed in the US around this time, became more serious. Moo

I think you are right. A lot of people knew before WHO declared it a pandemic. They clearly knew on 21 January that it had gone global then. People just weren't listening. I don't know why. Some people even now still aren't listening.

Global report: US reports daily record of 77,300 new coronavirus cases

Global report: US reports daily record of 77,300 new coronavirus cases

...
The US has reported a record 77,300 new coronavirus cases in 24 hours, according to the Johns Hopkins University tracker, which relies on official government data.

The figure is the highest one-day total for the pandemic so far. The US has consistently broken one-day records in recent days, but this is by a fairly wide margin.

The US, by far the worst-affected country worldwide in terms of the number of cases and deaths, has 3,576,221 confirmed infections and 138,358 fatalities.

Nike conference kilt-fitter 'developed symptoms'

I did a search on "Nike cover up" and this report covers it I think. I had never heard of it before and I did a search and it does not seem to have been posted on previous threads.

"A woman who had contact with conference delegates at the centre of Scotland's first Covid-19 outbreak says she is "angry" the cases were not made public.

Gillian Russell, who fitted kilts for delegates at the Nike conference in Edinburgh, told Sky News she developed flu-like symptoms afterwards.

The February outbreak was only made public in a BBC Scotland documentary.

The first minister has said details were not made public at the time to protect patient confidentiality.

Ms Russell, 43, told Sky News: "I'm quite angry and upset about it. I don't like the thought that I could have possibly infected someone without my knowledge. We were never informed.

"The worry is that somebody is actually infected and, possibly, died. Maybe not directly through contact with me but directly through contact via me."

Scotland's first official Covid-19 case was announced on 1 March after a positive test was confirmed by NHS Tayside.

Details of the outbreak at the conference in the Hilton Carlton Hotel were first revealed in a BBC Scotland Disclosure documentary.

The investigation discovered that one of the 70 Nike employees from across the world who attended the conference on 26 and 27 February already had the virus."

Hancock calls for urgent review on Covid death data

Full article Hancock calls for urgent review on Covid death data

"Health Secretary Matt Hancock has called for an urgent review into how coronavirus deaths have been recorded in England.

It follows confirmation from Public Health England that reported deaths may have included people who tested positive months before they died.

The other UK nations are only thought to include those who die within 28 days of having coronavirus.

There have been 40,528 deaths linked to the virus in England.

"Prof Carl Heneghan from University of Oxford, who spotted the issue with the data, told the BBC there was "huge variation" in the numbers of daily deaths reported in England by PHE.

While NHS England currently reports 30-35 deaths per day, Public Health England's data often shows double that or more, he said.

The reason is that anyone who has tested positive for coronavirus but then died at a later date of another cause would still be included in PHE's Covid-19 death figures.

"By this PHE definition, no one with Covid in England is allowed to ever recover from their illness," Prof Heneghan says."

Well this is interesting. Could this mean England deaths are overstated? It will be interesting to see what Dr. Campbell says about this in his next update. And maybe the US data needs reviewing too?

NASCAR heads to Texas, will welcome fans at Cup race as coronavirus cases continue surge

At Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, fans will only be allowed into the grandstand area and will not interact with drivers or teams.

Other protocols the track set up were digital tickets, masks required for everyone older than 10, clear bags so security personnel can see in them and souvenir and concession stands will accept credit cards only.

Also, seats were spaced out throughout the grandstand to maintain social distance among groups.

Two of the track’s campgrounds will be open Saturday for Sunday’s race. Typically the track’s campground is open more than a week before an event.

Gov. JB Pritzker files lawsuit seeking face mask order for Illinois schools

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker took the unusual step Thursday of preemptively filing a lawsuit to ensure school children wear face coverings to prevent the spread of the coronavirus when schools reopen in a few weeks.

The action filed late Thursday in Sangamon County Circuit Court by the state attorney general seeks a judge's approval of Pritzker's order that schoolchildren, teachers and staff wear coverings over mouths and noses among other measures to reduce the chance that the highly contagious and potentially deadly virus can spread.

"As a father, I would not send my children to a school where face coverings are not required because the science is clear: face coverings are critical to prevent the spread of coronavirus," Pritzker said in a prepared statement.

My granddaughter is very sick now! She is 21 months old.. 104.9 fever and a horrible rash! Her little face is so swollen!
I would attach a photo, but I have no "link" I was trying to research how is this possible? She has not left the house since March!! Her mother hasn't either. Her dad works with a mask on with 8 other men on computers all day.
They have all their groceries delivered!!!
I found this.
It's fascinating! A retired pediatric nurse and I had NO IDEA.
I thought I'd share, for those with small children in your family.
Worth the read!!

I know FB is off limits and please forgive me.

There's an outstanding interview on FB with Dr Fauci and Mark Zuckerberg, reaching our to our young Americians. He discussed current treatments and what's working at onset and more critically ill.

Dr F shared and explained the vaccine platforms and why he was optimistic we would have one.

I think MZ did an great job of question selection.

U.S. shatters coronavirus record with over 77,000 cases in a day

The loss of 969 lives was the biggest increase since June 10, with Florida, South Carolina and Texas all reporting their biggest one-day spikes on Thursday.

More than 138,000 Americans have died from COVID-19, a toll that experts warn will likely surge following recent record spikes in case numbers and an alarming rise in hospitalizations in many states.

The hardest-hit areas in Texas and Arizona are running out of places to store bodies as their morgues fill up and are bringing in coolers and refrigerated trailers.

Exactly. A good customer service mentality helps, too - like offering a mask or face shield or curbside service, but we need to stand firm either way. I think it is HUGELY helpful that corporations have finally stepped up. Maybe if WalMart, Target, and CVS had taken the lead a long time ago and normalized this, the poor workers at the smaller stores wouldn't have had to deal with so much pushback, harassment, and outright violence.

It's a whole lot easier to enforce store regulations.

I talked about an old ordinance in my town making masks illegal. If stores make it a rule, they completely bypass outdated ordinances and put some meat in their policy.

It will be interesting to see how big box handles the "refusal encounter". Many in my area are claiming, I gotta health condition.

Its just a big issue for some folks.

We sure have a lot of health conditions around here all of a sudden. Jmo

Oh my gosh!
I need to readjust my level of tolerance.
I imagine that this number will continue to climb.
I know a person who is sorta in the "know".
Ok not sorta, he knows stuff. He is retired so able to speak enough to get the point across.
Stressing that this fall and winter will test us all.
Could he be mistaken? Sure.
This is completely against his norm.
Formal high person from NATO.
Also a brigadier General from a military force.

His comment was "think about how you are set up for food, water, power and medical supplies. (Not so different than hurricaine planning)"
"I hope that you are taking steps to prepare yourself for uncertainty."
God Bless our country.
That's it. That's all he said.

I think we all have been thinking the same.
I'll alert my post to the mods.
He is just saying we need to get serious.
