I don't believe any of the stats that China has given.
Neither do I. They've done nothing but lie since the very beginning.

I don't truly believe the stats that ANY country has given. Seems the UK has been over-reporting deaths and the US has been under-reporting them. Who knows how many other anomalies there are globally and who knows how this will pan out when the final counts come in.

That said... China, Russia and North Korea in particular are at the top of my "oh my gawd it's a bloody miracle" list

How is North Korea doing anyway?

I commend the social media platforms for trying to stop misleading covid pandemic information.

Pulling down disinformation about a drug that the FDA has revoked.
Pulling down the Plandemic video. Because it was filled with disinformation and conspiracy theories.

People need factual information at this terrible time, not disinformation that non-scientifically-educated or ignorant minds cannot disseminate in any kind of accurate fashion.

Not doing that, to me, is like asking people to work out if blood pressure medication or eating bananas is better for high blood pressure.

Seems like a no-brainer for many of us, but throw a white coat on and stand in front of a govt building and some/too many people will believe that eating bananas opens up your blood vessels.

Amazingly they had no cases whatsoever, no siree, none at all, despite being sandwiched between China, SK and Russia. A few days ago they admitted to one case but attributed it to an SK defector. Quite possible they just assassinated anyone else who had a cough.

That's really a possibility I think. Not even joking. Another way of censoring information. No one died from Covid, we just won't tell you we put a bullet in their head. Jmo

I'm just waiting on the delivery of my face mask parcel.
My doorbell has broken down so I'm listening out for the feeble shake of my screen door which mimics the sound the wind makes.
Means I'm rushing to the door all the time because we're getting some windy weather :)
Even though there is a very old doorknocker that's extremely loud no one ever uses it.
And even though I had a doorbell before it broke, there were those that never used it and just shook the screen door oh so gently.
Then later they say Oh I called around to your place but you were out LOL.
Got a new doorbell, a friend was going to put it up for me, but the sound was tiny and tinny, no way I would hear it at the other end of this long house. So need to find one like my old one.

I had thought I might get that Ring system, one day, will think about it.

None of us live in a communist secrecy country though.
We live in countries where we can access the internet and social media platforms. Where much harmful information is spread .. or tries to be spread.
Thank goodness for a little healthy censorship. imo

I wouldn't want my kids to be able to freely or accidently view 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 without a tool like x-rated censorship being available to monitor the computers that they use and the innocent google searches they may do.

We don't have such a monitor for covid misinformation, so we have to rely on fact checking and censorship by the social media platforms and Google.

I wasn't joking about that bit either.

Going back to China and SE Asia, while I definitely think the stats are off, I also think they are much more attuned to dealing with a virus like this (what even is the plural for virus?). They are accustomed to wearing face masks. They have had epidemics plenty of times compared to most countries. They are more obedient for their government and face harsher penalties for rebelling. They have a strict regime that allows them to physically barricade homes and cart people off to quarantine.

While I do not agree with that sort of regime, it undoubtedly plays a part in reducing Covid. Factor in a comparable lack of international and even national travel, and you can see why they weren't hit harder. Personally, I think there's a half way point.

The Western world's problem is arrogance - we can't quite believe that poorer and less sophisticated nations have fared better than us, so we assume they're all liars.

<modsnip: Quoted post was removed>

In Australia treatments need to be approved by the TGA, I had thought it was the same in the US but with the FDA. Unproven claims can endanger lives so I dunno, it seems reasonable to me.

Social media companies are not in the business of medical advice, nor should they be. In the US, social media has taken the stance that health advice come from the CDC and other legit health agencies.

Besides, doctors in the US are free to prescribe hydroxy as they personally see fit. Nothing is stopping them. This particular group of doctors in the video have their drawers in a twist because the medical profession at large does not agree with handing out hydroxy like tic-tacs. Its understandable that social media firms do not want their platforms used as a stage for medical infighting.

I also looked at the bios of this "Frontline" group and could not find a single bit of research any of them has done on covid or hydroxy.

Yes, but I'm speaking of North Korea. I'm not sure what the debate is? They are very secretive. Jmo

Makes me wonder how many other doctors are using it. Like you said, they can prescribe as they see fit. That would be interesting, at least to me, to know. Jmo

In the future . It's life Jim but not as we know it :(

The gloomy windy weather here is getting to me and I hate waiting. I wish my parcel was here so I can stop being in waiting mode. Stamps foot!

Another possible horror story. What's wrong with people?

We are camped next to a couple (very social distancing) who are next week headed to a resort with 23 family members they haven't seen since last year. Nice, huh? Not much thought, if any, to the virus.

Just got worse IMO. Couple on the other side of our RV is having a big reunion here - connections from Michigan, South Dakota, Wisconsin. Does anyone understand we are in the midst of a pandemic?

Can you get notifications? My phone basically goes off when a package is dropped off.
