The doctor in the video was talking about her own cases I believe. Also, it is the EUA that has been withdrawn (Emergency Use Authorisation) where it was given to seriously ill patients. The other uses and off label uses are still authorised as stated by Scott Gottlieb in the video I posted.

That’s what I said ... there is no ban on using this drug. It’s going through the normal processes any potential treatments go through. That it’s being politicized is bizarre. It’s one of a number of treatments being trialed around the world.

The doctor was not just talking about her own cases, she was standing right there saying IT IS THE CURE for everyone. It’s the reason she went to DC, and it’s the hill she’s willing to die on. We don’t need masks, we don’t need to shut schools, we just need this drug. It’s the cure! That’s what she said. She won’t produce evidence because she said medical trials are unethical. If what she says is true, it would be evident in the medical trials that are being conducted.

Just let it go through the normal processes and if it works it works, and if it doesn’t it doesn’t. This whole “argument” about it leaves me scratching my head. jmo

Please stop discussing the recent video that contains unproven medical advice that is contrary to the advice of known experts like Dr. Fauci, is disseminating misinformation about hydroxychloroquine being a cure, and dismisses scientific findings to the contrary as fake science.

When Tricia started the Covid forum, she made the decision that attempts to downplay the severity of Covid19 are not welcome at Websleuths. When the material presented appears to be misinformation or propaganda or an attempt to minimize the severity of the Covid19 threat, it will be removed regardless of the source.

If someone disagrees with this policy, they are of course welcome to that belief and opinion, but WS is not the place for it in this particular instance. There are other sites that don't have this same policy in place where people may express thoughts that are contrary to the position Websleuths has taken.

My daughter attends one of those FL universities. She will be living at home for fall semester, but as of right now has 2 classes that are still scheduled to be in-person. One of them needs to be (I'm not sure how they could possibly do it remotely), but I'll be interested to see if the other one changes to remote.

My neighbor's nephew, a very pleasant young man, just left the UCF campus in Orlando to shelter with his aunt and uncle here in Palm Beach County. I hope he doesn't spread the virus to his aunt and uncle... I can't blame him for fleeing, though. Many of his contemporaries are not wearing masks or social distancing.

I don't blame him for getting "out of dodge" so to speak, but I agree with your concerns about his aunt and uncle! It has been spreading like wildfire among UCF students (I'll say IMO because my knowledge is from parent FB groups, so no links). One bar had a serious issue and had their liquor license revoked (and then reinstated). UCF-area bar gets alcohol license reinstated after coronavirus suspension

(Would this be considered a “Covid” party?)

I don't think they would need to deliberately court the virus when they are probably encountering it every day anyway.

He'll be returning. Some of his classes are online, but some aren't... He isn't a party type, and is a very serious student. He studies engineering. His aunt and uncle are over 55; we live in an over 55 community. They are very fit, but you just never know.

I think the only HXC trials going on at present are the ones where health staff are getting it in many countries as a preventative. I posted a BBC link about it up thread.

He sounds like my daughter...she's not the partying kind at all, which has been a blessing since she hasn't been around all the kids who have been going to bars and keg parties. Make a note of my username in case something comes up when he's back at school and he needs a local "mom" to help. Hopefully they will get a handle on things, but with school starting in less than a month I'm not overly confident.

My post was nothing to do with conspiracy theories, it was about genuine trials. I don't know what you are referring to. Perhaps you could explain.

His foundation is trying to help minority and low-income students during this pandemic.

Surely he's entitled to give his opinion, despite the fact he has no school age children or medical back round.

I was just going post that when schools here allow in-person learning on August 17 I hope they are prepared. I get the sense that they are expecting a relatively small number of kids - like a daycare. My suspicion is that they are going to be slammed.

Something to realize is that while we all follow this stuff on a minute-by-minute basis, most people don't (I know some full-time musicians and it shocks me every week that they aren't even aware of the Governor's pressers where he his determining their fate.) If a typical family isn't glued to Covid news, then their experience is limited to what they hear from friends and family. If an 85 year old uncle of a friend dies of Covid, they are apt to say "well, he died of being 85." The numbers are such that the vast majority of these people aren't going to know anyone who died or was in ICU - and the chances are practically non-existent that they will know someone young who died or got critically ill. So when schools open their doors, it probably shouldn't be a surprise when they are full.
