Select AMC Theaters to reopen with 15-cent tickets

AMC Theaters is gearing up for a grand reopening in select theaters on Aug. 20 with tickets priced as "Movies in 2020 at 1920 Prices." Tickets will be available for the Roaring Twenties vintage price of 15 cents.

AMC Theaters, the largest theater chain in the world, has announced that about 100 theaters across the country will open their doors with new safety protocols for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic caused mass theater shut downs across the country.
For the special event, AMC will be showing the films “Jumanji”, “Beauty and the Beast,” “Bloodshot,” “I Still Believe,” “Sonic the Hedgehog,” "Black Panther," “Back to the Future,” “The Goonies,” "Grease," and “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.

15 cents! Wow. I’m in CA, so the AMCs won’t be opening here, but I guess that could be enticing to some.
Not me, though. Not worth the risk to me. I wouldn’t be able to relax to enjoy the movie.

Any cases will end up being traced though as they would pass it on so it would end up being discovered IMO.

I would hope so, but at the same time, it's possible that people who attended the rally tended to be those who were in denial about the pandemic and how to get it under control, and they may not be providing contacts.

@slowpoke we are not getting the .15 cent deal here either. Forget it. I will stay home and watch movies.

Arizona businesses allowed to reopen regardless of COVID-19 metrics

Two theaters allowed to open in AZ. One looks like a place where they show classic movies and serve cocktails, and the other is a performing arts venue. Businesses were allowed to submit safety protocols, which, if approved, allow them to open prior to county Covid metrics being met.

He was not contacted. This happened weeks ago and I asked him yesterday. so SOME states are contact tracing. Florida, at least in my area, is not. I do think they are attempting it at schools, and that may not be the health department but the school doing that, but other than that . . .

Our schools start next Monday.

My goodness. I can't imagine starting schools with the rate of spread that is still happening. Do you have a sense of how the teachers are feeling about this?

Jimmy Fallon cracked a good joke about this. I’ll see if I can find it and transcribe lol.

Humor will see us through.

Very upsetting article

I’m scared to read it. I’ll mark this for later since I’m in a relatively good mood at the moment. Gotta relish it.

I'll stay home as well. I can pop my own popcorn and an ice cold pepsi with. Besides you have the cool sound system now. Oh and we have our surround sound back working. Good to go.

While it's nice to see the drive in movies making a big comeback there is still the bathroom situation. Nope.

Jimmy Fallon cracked a joke about the drive-ins too! I’ll have to find that one too!

Michigan State And Notre Dame Suspend In-Person Learning Over COVID-19 Concerns

"The virus is a formidable foe," Jenkins said. "For the past week, it has been winning. Let us as the Fighting Irish join together to contain it."

He said 146 students and one staff member have tested positive for the virus since Aug. 3. None has been hospitalized. He added that seniors living off-campus account for a large share of the cases, and most infections are coming from "off-campus gatherings where neither masks were worn nor physical distancing observed."

The neutral and absolutely unbiased New York Times (citing another impartial source "a new US intelligence report) tells us that the evil "Chinese commies" hid Coronavirus dangers....wow...the pure, blinding Truth
I believe every single word they say LOL

It's hard to believe anything coming from either the US intelligence or the Chinese government. There's some pretty obvious mutual blaming and deflecting of responsibilities.

They are going to be overwhelmed at the response. We have AMC all over the place here - my adult children love the newest one but hubs and I only go (well, went) to the non-AMC a few minutes from us. 15 cents is going to bring out MOBS of people. That's just crazy.

It probably doesn't matter anyway. What is anyone going to do about where it first started? Except possibly hate on those people, and maybe even misguidedly on that whole race. There is already plenty of hate in this world without adding more.

The virus is here. It has been here all year. Whatever happened, we all have to deal with it now and work together to find a safe way to go on.

I might have missed it. Does it say how many positive cases there are among that 306 total quarantined? One positive in my county corporation can send 35-50 students and/or teachers into quarantine.
They do not. Looks like as of yesterday, they had a presumptive positive and are awaiting test results for him/her and close contacts. MOO

I totally agree with you.
Never trust government (all countries, all of them without exception)
