Yes. I follow it daily. Postponing it was not an answer. From the beginning I thought it wasn't a good idea to hold it at all. It will be a big surprise if there are no riders who test positive either now or later. It will also be a surprise if the virus doesn't spread to crowds at the Tour. We just don't learn, do we?

And to add to the French virus problem, the country recorded nearly 10,000 new cases in a single day on Thursday, a record high since the beginning of the pandemic.

The U.S. does not require a person to relinquish their natural born citizenship, nor does Canada. This is common among many, but not all, countries. But each country involved with one's dual citizenship only recognizes their citizenship. That is also common among most, but not all, countries.

There is an oath in the US that forced this during the time that I lived there. The US Naturalisation Oath.

I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen.

It may be different now. I don't know. It is of no consequence to me any more.

I had relatives who did just that every winter for the whole of their retirement. ( a period of about 30 years until death). They also visited UK every summer. It is very common. I don't know the exact legalities of it though. He always used to say he had to come back to the UK every six months.

Yes, permanent residents of the U.S. can only stay out of the country for six months, or they risk losing their U.S. permanent residence status.

There are about a million Canadian snowbirds who normally would be starting their trek to Florida in the upcoming weeks, but it doesn't look as though the migration is going to happen this year. They inject about 8bn into the economy.

For economic reasons alone, you'd think that Florida would want to clean up their CoVid problem.

We have a condo in Fort Myers and go there for the winter: we have several canadian families in our complex and i have been thinking they are not going to get down there this year. That is such a shame.

I just spoke with a US friend who comes here during US winter. He is really bummed that he can't come this year. He said it is not about public health anymore. There's nothing anyone can do.

The border will remain closed until CoVid is under control in the U.S. There is a provision that allows a person to cross the border if they are going to their permanent home, which in many snowbird's cases, is Florida. But they won't even try to croas the border when Florida's not controlling CoVid.

I am sorry you won't be able to get there this winter---- I have been wondering when we are going to get to Florida this winter as we all know this summer Florida was exploding with cases: it seems to have receded a bit. We usually go to Florida in November- I am hoping we can leave at that time. we shall see. I am going to miss our Canadian friends. They are so nice and they love being in Florida so much.

Question: if Canadians whose homes in Canada are not winterized are not able to go to their second homes in warmer places this year, how will they get through the winter? Seems like it would be challenging.

We just went through an awful fire propelled by high winds here in Southern Oregon on Tuesday. One small part of Ashland about a mile from where I live and a large part of Talent and Phoenix have been devastated. It looks like a war zone. My friends in Talent and Phoenix had to flee for their lives on a moments notice, the fire came through so fast. Eleven homes have been lost among my friends, mostly mobile homes in parks that were leveled. They are staying with friends. Others who evacuated and didn’t lose their homes can’t come back home until it’s safe. Ten of them ended up sheltering in the same home with a generous couple. Of course, I’m thinking social distancing would be impossible and not exactly a high priority in these circumstances. But they have posted pictures in their host’s living room of some of them sitting six feet apart wearing masks. I have such great, conscientious friends! Gotta love ‘em.

The leadership in Canada is much better than ours here in the U.S. They are looking out for their citizens, as it should be.

Question: if Canadians whose homes in Canada are not winterized are not able to go to their second homes in warmer places this year, how will they get through the winter? Seems like it would be challenging.

I am in SW Ontario and our friends homes are winterized. musical is speaking to Northern Ontario. It's my understanding that folks can go it's just that they dont want to. I have Family in Michigan. I can drive to see them. When I return I have to quarantine for 2 weeks with an exact plan. If they come here they have to quarantine for 2 weeks. When they return to the U.S. no quarantine for them. We have friends whose Sister and her Husband live in Georgia. They rented a motor home to drive up. When they got to the border they had to submit all info regarding their quarantine. Then they called our friends to check they were good with the plan. During their quarantine our friends received follow up phone calls, emails and a surprise visit that all was being followed. They quarantined in the motor home on our friends property. Essential travel is allowed such as truckers, Nurses living in Windsor who work in Michigan and not long ago Family visits allowed. We are settling for face time.

There is much to consider for Canadians travelling outside of Canada. Travel Health Insurance may not cover covid. If things go into lock down the Government is not going to send a plane for you etc. etc. I'll grab a link.

A story made the news here in Michigan. A family, whose daughter is dying in Canada, is not allowed to travel to see her -- they don't know how long she has to live; i think they could quarantine for fourteen days, but they didn't know if she would live that long. It is a horrible thing---I am sure there are other stories like this:tragic.
