Tomorrow, Victoria (not Melbourne) will have much greater easing of restrictions. Life will be almost 'covid normal'.
Just some tightish restrictions on sizes of gatherings - 10 to 20 people, depending on specific circumstances - and only 5 people at a time from one nominated family visiting your home.

Their Premier is really pleased with how they are doing. Fewer than 5 daily cases for 14 days.

"It is such good news, I am so, so pleased and proud of every single regional Victorian who has stayed the course, followed the rules, got tested. They've done an amazing job," Premier Daniel Andrews said.

It is good news and as you are heading into your summer, it is a good point to be at. Hopefully you will have the vaccine well before your next winter.

No, the test is free.

If you get tested at a public health facility, mobile testing centre or GP medical practice that offers bulk billing, you won't have to pay for the test. You might have to pay to see your GP if they don't offer bulk billing, but the test itself is free.

If thats anywhere near accurate, that's 51 million Americans who have had it. Their sampling group is 13,200.

The survey says 3% have tested positive (about 9 or 10 million?) - a further 11% 'think' they have had it but haven't been tested.

Presumably many people know the same person who has been hospitalised or has died from covid.

I wonder how they define "know". Personally amongst friends or family, on a forum like WS or from reading about someone in the news for example.

The 3% who have tested positive does seem to be possible but the 11% who are pretty sure they have had it seems remarkably high.

93m have been tested and 6.7m have been positive so that appears to be around 8% overall. 8% of 325m would be about 26 million if I have calculated correctly.

Depends on the state you live in.

My state has a portal where you log on and get your results. You get a text when your results are ready, log on and get them.

Other states' methods are in this article. They vary. Text or phone call. Delivered to your GP. Given a phone number to call.

Our primary schools started last week. DGD went to school for two days, then had a sore throat. This meant that the whole family had to be tested, which they did. They all had to self isolate until the tests came back, except DS-I-L. He was required to go to work, in spite of the fact that the family was in isolation. He's an MD. They all tested -ve and the kids have gone back to school until the next sore throat.

Apparently, it's possible in ON, for your MD to be CoVid positive, and still see patients! Isn't that outrageous?!

CHICAGO (WGN) — The U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced Monday that it had seized 500,000 counterfeit N95 masks in Chicago in a shipment from Shenzhen, China last week.

The Anti-Terrorism Contraband Enforcement Team removed 30 masks from the shipment arriving at O’Hare International Airport and sent them to a CDC testing office. The results found that 10% of the masks had a filter efficiency below the required 95%.

“These masks did not meet the safety standards outlined by the CDC, which puts the public at risk, jeopardizing the health and well being of everyone,” said Shane Campbell, Area Port Director-Chicago.

An appraisal estimated the domestic value of the masks to be more than $3,000,000 — well over six times the MSRP value due to the high demand during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The mask shipment was turned over to Homeland Security Investigation for further enforcement and investigation.

An article about the Covid-19 in Sweden. On Tuesday the rolling seven-day average of new cases were 108, the lowest since March 13. The curve of the rolling seven-day average for Sweden have been different from those of other European countries during the summer, while the curves were low in other countries, Sweden had its peak of new cases in June, to go down in July, and a small hump in early August, when the number of new cases began to climb in Spain and France.
At the moment Sweden have also fewer cases of new infections compared to those in Norway, and Denmark, our closest neighbours. In the beginning of the pandemic their numbers were low, perhaps due to the lockdown they had, while Sweden didn't do a "hard" lockdown. It will be interesting to see what strategy will prove to have been the best, when the pandemic is over one day in the future.

I think I saw a link within the article - at the bottom of the article - that provides the survey questions. That might explain more.

I did read it but it did not indicate to me that these people even knew each other let alone the same Covid victims. "Yes I know someone who thinks they could have had it" can probably be stated by most of us. We need a little more certainty from surveys. MOO.

Yes, I would think it is illegal too. Apparently, doctors are expected to put procedures in place to eliminate the risk, but there is always a risk. I get that we don't want all of our doctors in isolation every time one of their kids has a sniffle, but this practice is scary.

Test rests were back within 24 hrs.
