Passengers being tested at the airport won’t come into direct contact with the dogs. Instead, travellers will wipe their own skin and drop the sample into a cup, which is presented to the dog in a separate booth

I get sniffing for explosives or cancer. But covid? What protects the dogs from contracting the virus & spreading it to their handlers/ owners? Or for that matter to all the people they sniff? Bad idea, imo.

‘You are not listening’: Fauci scolds Sen. Rand Paul for misconstruing New York’s coronavirus battle

Dr. Anthony Fauci put Sen. Rand Paul on blast during a testy congressional hearing Wednesday after Paul trash-talked New York’s coronavirus response.

Paul remains skeptical of face masks and social distancing despite contracting COVID-19 in March.

“You misconstrued that, senator, and you’ve done that repetitively in the past,” Fauci seethed. The doctor explained that New York’s death toll is particularly high because it “got hit very badly” at the outset of the pandemic, when “some mistakes” were made because very little was known about the virus.

Fast-forward to today, New York is seeing infection rates near 1% or lower because guidelines on disinfection, face masks and social distancing are being rigorously followed, Fauci said.

“Or they’ve developed enough community immunity that they’re no longer having the pandemic," Paul interrupted.

Fauci continued, “You are not listening to what the director of the CDC said — that in New York about 22%" of the population have contracted the virus. “If you believe 22% is herd immunity, I believe you are alone,” Fauci added.

Though Paul and some others insist that herd immunity is a viable strategy for fighting the virus, infectious disease experts have warned that there’s no evidence that it actually works. In fact, researchers recently said it appears people can contract COVID-19 more than once, a finding that would render the concept of herd immunity moot.

The video of that exchange was priceless! Dr Fauci almost got cut off because of time running out and he insisted on finishing his reply to Paul. He kept his cool, but he was firm and didn’t mess around. Gotta love him!

Dr. Anthony Fauci believes “there's good enough data to say that aerosol transmission does occur.” Fauci explained, “Aerosol means the droplets don't drop immediately – they hang around for a period of time.”

“Generally if you have droplets that come out of a person, they generally go down within six feet. So, if you're six feet distance, you’re wearing a mask, you don't worry about that,” he said.
This becomes “very relevant” when you are inside where there is poor ventilation.

Fauci said we shouldn’t be “getting bent out of shape,” about whether Covid-19 aerosolizes or not. “Act like it's occurring – and then do the same thing you've been doing otherwise.”

“Which means: Wear the mask,” he added.

Dr. Fauci Warns You Can Catch COVID This Way After All
I’ve been thoroughly confused about the recent aerosol transmission controversy. Science confirmed this back in March or April. Numerous studies, numerous articles. And common sense. Who wants to be near anyone after a cough or sneeze these days? All this rehashing. Smh.

I know. I thought aerosol transmission was settled. It’s common sense. But the people who are rehashing it probably don’t want to believe it because they don’t want to wear masks. So scientists have to keep beating that drum. Must be exhausting!

And Paul is a doctor. These people, like Atlas, who are pretending to be medical experts are going to kill more of us.

I just hope people will be smart enough to protect themselves, and protect their neighbors.

Coronavirus: University of Glasgow outbreak linked to mixing during freshers' week

The University of Glasgow believes socialising during freshers' week is to blame for the outbreak.

NHS Scotland has set up a testing centre on the campus to and try deal with the significant rises in cases.

The University of Glasgow says it is offering support to students and is taking a tough approach to those who don't follow the rules.

The video in this link is amazing. There is zero respect for authority anywhere. All over a damn mask. This school’s SRO deserves a medal for dealing with this dimwit woman. I hope she sues, loses & has to pay fines plus legal fees for both sides. In case anyone is wondering, like the filmer of this vid, yes, an SRO is a real police officer who can make a real arrest. Not a “rent-a-cop”. Watch the vid before “Karen’s” attorney gets it taken down. Jmo

I’d like to think how embarrassing this must be for her kid, but unfortunately she’s probably just become the latest role model for defiance. Mo

To me it looked like they were distanced outdoors enough to be safe without a mask but the school is following guidelines and enforcing them. The school had no choice but to have her removed if she wouldn't follow the rule. She wasn't arrested for not wearing a mask, she was arrested for trespassing when she refused to leave. I just can't believe how some people are behaving.

Yes. This school district adopted a policy & they have the legal right to enforce it. Refusing to comply with a simple tiny policy prevented her from supporting her son for the remainder of his football game- and disrupted other parents’ ability to peacefully watch theirs. How pathetic parenting is that. Smh. Mo, jmo, etc.

I hope she isn’t an asymptomatic Covid carrier. All that yelling spewed spit over everyone! Covidiot.

From your link:

Perceived political interference into the CDC’s mission has been devastating to morale at the agency, current and former officials said.

“The feeling right now is that public health is not being allowed to lead and to demonstrate the path forward to reduce transmission and increase economic activity,” former CDC director Rich Besser said.

This is really sad to watch. At our colleges and universities, our police/safety officers are trained in de-escalation strategies so that it would not get to the point of handcuffing and tasing a young mother who is sitting with her family, outside, and separated from others. We have had lots of conversations at our universities about how to handle a situation where a student or someone else won't wear a mask, but we know that our goal is always to de-escalate the situation. Doesn't sound to me like the officer used these strategies here.

I think a lot of people are confused by the mask wearing rules, because Ohio's rules don't require masks if outdoors and you are able to social distance, which is what they were doing on the visiting team's side of the stadium.

In any event, I hope that this is resolved in a way that moves forward with healing between the two school districts and athletic teams.

I'm linking my county health dept post on Indiana stage 5 because its easier to see.

Clark County Health Department

How do your stages work - 5 sounds "high," but the restrictions look quite reasonable. I'm so jealous that you get to have buffets! (Yes, even though the guidance says they are not recommended.) That is probably the thing I miss most.

The video started as the woman who was refusing to leave had already escalated the situation. I’m sure there was lots of conversation and explaining and attempts to persuade on the part of the SRO before the video started. The school district had set a standard (even outdoors apparently) and he was employed to enforce it. He really was not at liberty to back down once he had asked her to leave. That would embolden others and set a terrible precedent. How this played out is on this woman, not the officer IMO.

5 is the top. Weve went from 1 to 5 since March. We've been in a special 4.5 for awhile. At every stage we meet certain criteria and can go back or progress. 5 is the closest we will get until this is over for good. I'm linking our Back on Track page. It has all the stages and criteria.

Back On Track Indiana: Home

The only change for me is I have literally cried over our local Chinese buffet. We are very fond of the owners. She is like an honorary grandmother to my little granddaughter. Little squirt perches on her arm and smirks at us they parade by with suckers, ice cream . . . Lol.
