I agree that security would not expose him to dangers. But that leaves a huge question about how he contacted this, does it not?
From Hope, one of his aides or from Melania who got it from the aide. Have to remember it is contagious without symptoms for several days. I am assuming POTUS and FLOTUS have been symptom free and testing negative up till this last one. MOO.
It's just common sense that the elite with endless supply of money and access get the best treatment. You already know Donald Trump gets immediate testing whenever he wants. The rest of us get tests and wait up to two weeks or more for results. I know this because we've been tested and we never were allowed or offered any special treatment based on symptoms alone. The standard treatment is telling people to stay home. They can't and won't be seen by any doctors unless they are symptomatic enough to go to the ER. Spend any amount of time in some online groups for people with COVID.

Do you honestly think a billionaire, a President, a monarch, or heck just a millionaire gets the same medical treatment as the average person anywhere in any country? Isn't that how capitalism works? You get what you can afford to pay for? I have spent decades uninsured and so have members of my family. I assure you we got crappy medical care and I'm positive the wealthy weren't treated the same way. If you have money you can buy anything.

And we have like dozens of stories online and in news articles of first responders getting poor treatment and not able to even access proper PPE to treat COVID patients. This is amply available all over the media. This is just life for everyone all over the entire globe. The more money and power you have the better access you have to everything of any monetary value or worth.

I'm sure Donald Trump is getting better medical care than someone who is indigent with no health insurance who just walks into the local overcrowded underfunded ER.

Well that's what they are doing, staying home in the WH, so no difference there. POTUS has no health insurance apparently.

Doing "Contact Tracing" for President Trump would include all contacts he was with 48 hours prior to testing positive. People who are closer than six feet, for longer than 15 minutes.

But of course, the CDC put out "guidelines" that stated asymptomatic contacts did not have to get tested. Hmmm, it looks like President Trump did not follow CDC guidelines. He went and got tested. Our county health department doesn't follow those guidelines either. Hmmm...

Anyway, now, all of President Trump's contacts would have to be on quarantine for two weeks, or until October 14th.

Wow. More in quarantine...
Dr. Anthony Fauci, an infectious disease expert and a member of the White House coronavirus task force, announced Saturday that he will begin a “modified quarantine..."
Two other coronavirus task force members – Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Stephen Hahn, commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration – said they also will self-quarantine...
Adm. Michael Gilday, chief of Naval Operations, had contact with a family member who has tested positive for coronavirus, a Defense Department spokesman said. Gilday tested negative but will be quaranting this week, the spokesman said.
...three members of the White House Coronavirus Task Force entered quarantine after being close to someone diagnosed with the disease.
Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. Alexander's office said late Sunday that a member of his staff tested positive for the coronavirus on Sunday and that, out of an abundance of caution, the senator will self-quarantine in Tennessee for 14 days.

The president confirmed Hicks' diagnosis, which was first reported by Bloomberg News, during a phone interview with Hannity on Thursday night.

"Whether we quarantine or whether we have it, I don't know," Trump, 74, told Hannity. "I just went for a test, and we'll see what happens."

He said Hicks is a person who is "warm" with military members and for whom "it's very hard to say 'stay back.'"

Trump later tweeted that he and the first lady will begin isolating until they receive their results.

Trump says he and first lady will self-quarantine after aide Hope Hicks tests positive for Covid-19

bbm. "Whether we quarantine?" Ummm, yes! unbelievable. It appears later after this interview someone had to remind him that he would have to self-quarantine whether or not he tested positive.

I read it as whether they just quarantine for the specified time or whether they tested positive. I think it's just whatever spin we want to read in. JMO

I had my results in 2 hours. Everyone doesn't wait weeks. I'm certainly not rich.

Whoa. I wasn’t trying to downplay the virus. I stated my personal story was anecdotal, which I shared at my own peril.

My parents aren’t filthy rich and weren’t pumped full of anything, and I don’t have any knowledge of the Trumps being pumped full of anything.

I don’t think Zinc or antivirals are something only the filthy rich could get, regardless.

IV zinc is not something easily accessed. No one I know who was potentially sick or known positive got any IV zinc, antivirals etc UNLESS they became very ill. IV meds are not easily given at all even for people who have demonstrably low lab levels. I know this from experience. I have had flagged low labs levels of minerals numerous times and am never offered IV treatment for it.

Maybe some people out there have some amazing health insurance? Again that's something only accessible to certain segments of the population though unless they are critically ill. I see people all the time turned away from the ER's with minimal care depending on their health insurance or lack of. And the hospitals and ER's being overwhelmed means they send you home asap if you show up. They are only legally required to stabilize people not give ideal preventative treatment. I've seen critically ill people sent home to die because the hospitals are full.

President Trump showing minor symptoms after testing positive for COVID-19: report

Trump was showing minor, cold-like symptoms.

At a fund-raiser he attended at his golf club at Bedminster, N.J., on Thursday, where one attendee said the president came in contact with about 100 people, he seemed lethargic.

A person briefed on the matter said that Trump fell asleep at one point on Air Force One on the way back from a rally in Minnesota on Wednesday night.

Trump’s daughter Ivanka, his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and his son, Barron, all also tested negative, the White House said.

Pence, who has been campaigning separately from the president on Air Force Two, was last with him on Tuesday morning in Washington. It was not immediately clear whether Pence would keep up his travel schedule while the president quarantined.

Ronna McDaniel, the chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, has tested positive for the coronavirus and is experiencing mild symptoms.

McDaniel is the latest person who is in frequent contact with Trump to test positive for the virus.

She was last with Trump last Friday, and has been at her home in Michigan since then.

She received her diagnosis on Wednesday. After a crowded donor event in March at Mar-a-Lago, the president’s private club in Florida, Ms. McDaniel fell ill, but she tested negative at the time.

It is interesting about how she tested negative- at one point- then she tested positive
It seems one cannot rely on one test- that tests need to be repeated.

You’re a lucky one! Got flu shot this week and asked about Covid test results. Appts required and it’s the next day to get on the schedule and results in 2-4 days.
Better than it was - which was 7-10 days.
And this is a large city in the south where Trump just visited.

So even if he tested negative he would have to quarantine? So VP and wife will have to quarantine even though they tested negative? Is that correct that both the President and the Vice President will be in quarantine ? Just clarifying the rules. Biden too? And everyone that was at the debate?

Pence is scheduled to participate in Wednesday’s vice presidential debate with Sen. Kamala Harris.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who is fourth in the line of succession, said Friday he tested negative.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, who is fifth in line, also tested negative.

The US unemployment rate fell to 7.9% in September.

Unemployment has fallen sharply since hitting a historic record of 14.7% in April after the coronavirus pandemic shut down the US. But the rate is still far higher than the 4.8% when Trump took office in January 2017 and the recent pace of recovery is slowing. The current level marks the worst job loss that any president has faced going into an election based on records going back to the second world war.

Over the month of September, the US added just 661,000 jobs, down from the 1.4m jobs added in August, a month that was boosted by the temporary hiring of 238,000 people to conduct the 2020 Census. About half of the jobs lost in the early months after the coronavirus hit the US have now been recovered.

US unemployment rate falls to 7.9% in last look at jobs market before elections

He fell asleep once on AF1 flying back from the Minnesota rally. Really? I would imagine it was power napping as he had been on stage non stop for an hour and a half looking nothing like lethargic talking for all that time with no notes. The reporting is ridiculous really. He is over 70 FPS:rolleyes: .

That's a shame. It was down to 3.6% in January 2020.

Can the common cold help protect you from COVID-19?
[A new study provides evidence that the seasonal colds you've had in the past could protect you from COVID-19. The study also suggests that immunity to COVID-19 is likely to last a long time -- maybe even a lifetime.]
