New Jersey Govenor Murphy urges those who attended Trump’s N.J. fundraiser to get tested

”The contact-tracing process is underway," the governor added. "We urge everyone who attended yesterday’s event in Bedminster to take full precautions, including self-quarantining and getting tested.”

An attendee said the president was in contact with about 100 people there and seemed lethargic at the event.

Trump attended the fundraiser despite White House officials learning that Hope Hicks, one of the president’s closest advisors, tested positive.

Pence is scheduled to participate in Wednesday’s vice presidential debate with Sen. Kamala Harris.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who is fourth in the line of succession, said Friday he tested negative.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, who is fifth in line, also tested negative.

Vice President Mike Pence and second lady test negative for coronavirus following Trump's positive diagnosis

Supreme court nominee Amy Coney Barrett has tested negative for coronavirus.

Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris has reportedly tested negative for coronavirus.

Health and human services secretary Alex Azar is the latest official to come out and say that he has tested negative for Covid-19 after protectively being screened following news of Donald Trump’s positive test.

Biden wishes Trump a 'swift recovery' following Covid-19 diagnosis– live

So despite testing negative they need to all quarantine though right?

It is interesting about how she tested negative- at one point- then she tested positive
It seems one cannot rely on one test- that tests need to be repeated.

She tested negative in the month of March. Fell ill from something else.? Then she just now tested postive.

That is how I read the article.

Expert opinion: COVID-19 vaccine rollout unlikely before fall 2021: But many experts surveyed also believe vaccine development will take place at an accelerated rate

[In general they seem to believe that a publicly available vaccine next summer is the best-case scenario with the possibility that it may take until 2022," said Jonathan Kimmelman, a James McGill professor and the director of the Biomedical Ethics Unit at McGill University...

"The experts we surveyed believe that there is a 1 in 3 chance that the vaccine will receive a safety warning label after approval, and a 4 in 10 chance that the first large field study will not report efficacy," added Patrick Kane, the lead author]

So even if he tested negative he would have to quarantine? So VP and wife will have to quarantine even though they tested negative? Is that correct that both the President and the Vice President will be in quarantine ? Just clarifying the rules. Biden too? And everyone that was at the debate?

So despite testing negative they need to all quarantine though right?

The US CDC has guidelines on who should be quarantined. It's been posted many times and don't have at my fingertips right now.. but distance and time is considered. MOO Biden was far away... but transmission happens greater with talking a lot, singing, etc. as we have seen with documented super spreader events.

As to "everyone at the debate"... MOO No. They would not fall within qualifications for such. MOO

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who helped Trump prepare for Tuesday’s debate, said he tested negative for COVID-19 on Tuesday morning but plans to get tested again this morning.

Christie said he was at the White House from Saturday through Tuesday afternoon, and that Trump’s debate team — including himself — didn’t wear facial coverings.

“No one was wearing masks in the room when we were prepping the president at that period in time,” Christie said. “The group was about five to six people in total.”

Trump was reportedly 'lethargic' at N.J. fundraiser Thursday, where he met with supporters

T cell immunity different than B cell immunity - which many MSM reports don't differentiate. MOO

A lot of "scientists" don't either. Very interesting read. JMO

I think I have found the CDC link to rules on quarantine.

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

When to Quarantine
Stay home if you might have been exposed to COVID-19

Updated Sept. 10, 2020
Note:

At this time, we have limited information about reinfections with the virus that causes COVID-19. This is a new virus, and CDC is actively working to learn more. We will provide updates as they become available. Data to date show that a person who has had and recovered from COVID-19 may have low levels of virus in their bodies for up to 3 months after diagnosis. This means that if the person who has recovered from COVID-19 is retested within 3 months of initial infection, they may continue to have a positive test result, even though they are not spreading COVID-19.

There are no confirmed reports to date of a person being reinfected with COVID-19 within 3 months of initial infection. However, additional research is ongoing. Therefore, if a person who has recovered from COVID-19 has new symptoms of COVID-19, the person may need an evaluation for reinfection, especially if the person has had close contact with someone infected with COVID-19. The person should isolate and contact a healthcare provider to be evaluated for other causes of their symptoms, and possibly retested.

CDC recommends that all people, whether or not they have had COVID-19, take steps to prevent getting and spreading COVID-19. Wash hands regularly, stay at least 6 feet away from others whenever possible, and wear masks.

For more information:

Quarantine is used to keep someone who might have been exposed to COVID-19 away from others. Quarantine helps prevent spread of disease that can occur before a person knows they are sick or if they are infected with the virus without feeling symptoms. People in quarantine should stay home, separate themselves from others, monitor their health, and follow directions from their state or local health department.

Quarantine or isolation: What's the difference?

Quarantine keeps someone who might have been exposed to the virus away from others.

Isolation keeps someone who is infected with the virus away from others, even in their home.

Who needs to quarantine?

People who have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19—excluding people who have had COVID-19 within the past 3 months.

People who have tested positive for COVID-19 do not need to quarantine or get tested again for up to 3 months as long as they do not develop symptoms again. People who develop symptoms again within 3 months of their first bout of COVID-19 may need to be tested again if there is no other cause identified for their symptoms.

other symptoms of COVID-19
  • If possible, stay away from others, especially people who are at higher risk for getting very sick from COVID-19
When to start and end quarantine
You should stay home for 14 days after your last contact with a person who has COVID-19.

For all of the following scenarios, even if you test negative for COVID-19 or feel healthy, you should stay home (quarantine) since symptoms may appear 2 to 14 days after exposure to the virus.

See scenarios below to determine when you can end quarantine and be around others.

Continued at link.

So VP and wife should definitely quarantine despite testing negative, according to CDC. As well as Biden or anyone else who had contact.

POTUS and FLOTUS are in isolation. Everyone else should quarantine for 14 days.

Well ... NJ's Governor Murphy is advising people who were at Trump's Bedminster, NJ event yesterday to get tested and self-quarantine.

He fell asleep once on AF1 flying back from the Minnesota rally. Really? I would imagine it was power napping as he had been on stage non stop for an hour and a half looking nothing like lethargic talking for all that time with no notes. The reporting is ridiculous really. He is over 70 FPS:rolleyes: .

I would assume perhaps they mentioned it because it's not typical for him to fall asleep on the plane.

It may not be required that they self-isolate, but, imo, it would a good idea if they did.

Can the common cold help protect you from COVID-19?
[A new study provides evidence that the seasonal colds you've had in the past could protect you from COVID-19. The study also suggests that immunity to COVID-19 is likely to last a long time -- maybe even a lifetime.]

This would be amazing. Except we know most people have had the common cold many times over a lifetime and still end up critically ill. I've also seen way too many people who are getting covid again months later to hope immunity lasts a long time. No other coronaviruses actually offer any decently long immunity. But I'll try and hope regardless that my yearly several weeks long cold will do me some good!

I just started back up on medicinal mushrooms and betaglucan. Every time I take those I drastically boost my immune system. It's been a life saver to me in the past. Betaglucan is in oats and other whole grains that I unfortunately can't eat. But it's there for others if you eat those foods regularly!

Testing does not prevent you from getting Covid. It's absolutely reckless to simply rely on testing. IMO

Many will test negative today but it doesn't mean they will tomorrow. It's imperative they isolate IMO

Biden Debate Guest Reacts To Trump Coronavirus Test

A Cleveland steelworker who attended Tuesday’s debate as a guest of Joe Biden’s was still trying to process the news Friday. President Trump, first lady Melania, and top Trump aide Hope Hicks — all of whom had been in the room with him that night on the Cleveland Clinic’s main campus — had in the last 24 hours tested positive for COVID-19.

Though masks were mandatory on site to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus, there were members of Trump’s family and traveling party who did not wear them in the debate hall.

Trump family members ignore mandatory mask rule

From your pool era vantage point, all family members who entered without a mask, members of Trump's administration and other guests were not wearing a mask. A Cleveland Clinic doctor in a white lab coat started to approach Trump family guests to ask them to put on masks. She offered them one in case they didn’t get one. She never approached any family members but as she got closer to them, someone shook their head and no one she reminded to put on a mask ended up putting one on.

Last week our Niece was exposed at work. She self isolated as well as her Parents since she had been to their house. They thankfully tested negative. So here in Ont. Canada they all were required to self isolate and be tested. How else do you get a handle on this. IMO
