With the US making no progress on average daily Covid-19 cases last month, officials fear a coming crisis

The US made no progress in lowering its baseline of Covid-19 cases in the past month despite experts' urgent admonitions to reduce the daily count of new cases before the challenging fall and winter seasons.

"No matter how you slice it, that's not good," Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and a member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, said last week. "We're looking at 40,000 new cases per day. That's unacceptable and that is what we've got to get down before we go into the more problematic winter."

Experts like Fauci say now is the time for cities and states to double down on safety measures to help combat a coming surge of Covid-19 cases. Among those measures are face masks, which remain the country's most powerful tool against the virus until a vaccine becomes available.

I saw South Dakota and another state (can’t remember which one right now, will have to check) had their highest numbers yesterday:

Says he met with Barrett on Wednesday:

“BREAKING — Sen Thom Tillis also tests positive for covid-19, his office says. Tillis is also a member of the Judiciary Committee, was at the White House SCOTUS event Saturday, met with Barrett on Wednesday.“

It sure seems that the Saturday event(s) could have been the start of this outbreak. Would have been about the right timing for the onset of symptoms.

IMO

More on Trump...
A Trump adviser said there is reason for concern about the President's health.
"This is serious," the adviser said. The adviser went on to describe Trump as very tired, very fatigued and having some trouble breathing.

A source familiar with the situation said White House officials have serious concerns about Trump's health and a top administration official told CNN that Trump is "OK for now, but our fear is that things can change quick."

A third source said the President's condition is worse than first lady Melania Trump's.

The decision to give Trump an experimental monoclonal antibody cocktail illustrates how concerned the White House may be about his Covid-19 diagnosis, Dr. Jonathan Reiner, CNN medical analyst and professor at George Washington University, told CNN on Friday.

"The big news there is that he got an experimental drug. He got a drug not approved by the FDA," said Reiner, who has treated former Vice President Dick Cheney.

I’m not sure how many people are hearing this from Dr. Fauci. We are heading into (even more) dark waters with this baseline imo, as I’ve stated previously. Absolutely we need to “double down“, like he says.

The general trend is not good in a number of places. Especially with winter approaching.

Paris is at risk of total lockdown now. They have been protesting about restrictions and, ironically or not, may now go into lockdown.

Think how much we will truly appreciate all the things we are missing right now. One day we will look back......So much we as humans take for granted. Life is fragile.

Ugh, I'm looking forward to that day. Tonight I just leisurely grocery shopped at Aldi and Walmart and just enjoyed being in a grocery store. I hate Walmart but was actually looking forward to it all day! lol I found spray lysol too! I haven't found any since spring and I found some small cans of Libby pumpkin and grabbed a few for my mother. She won't use anything else but Aldi is always out when we go.

I'm really saddened by all this. I find the drama of it all stressful. I'm deeply sorry for all the families going through a covid diagnoses. I'm concerned for Trump and our nation right now.

I learned a dear long time online friend has had covid for weeks. Her entire family has and is thankfully doing better. I can't believe she never posted or shared online that they were sick!

I'm really really longing and looking forward to better days for all of us.

“Trouble breathing”?

This doesn’t sound like mild disease to me. We are told as contact tracers to inform persons that if they have trouble breathing, they need to seek care immediately.

Noted he was wearing a mask when transported to the hospital.

Yes, a mask helps protect others, not just the wearer. I assume he wouldn't be in the helicoptor by himself, so I'm glad to see he's wearing his mask.

When my daughter was young and refused to wear her seatbelt, we told her the car wasn't moving until she was bucked up. ;)

I am sure he was told to wear a mask for his sake and for others and he followed that suggestion.
He's already got the virus. Wearing a mask wont help him now. Come on.

IMO, he was ordered to wear a mask by his medical team, because he's confirmed to have the virus and is spreading it with every breath. They were probably like: if you want us to make you better, Mr. President, you wear this.

And if he said I wont do it they would let him die? I don't think so. JMO
