I'm not a basketball fan, but I will always remember driving home from the grocery store hearing that the NCAA Tournament was cancelled. It felt like we were entering the fictional universe of The Walking Dead. Tonight I was driving home from the bar, where a musical act I don't care for was playing, and listening to an interview with the coach of the Miami Heat talking about the NBA Finals. I was experiencing the epitome of "First World Problems." So I am sending out love, admiration and thanks to everyone that kept the world turning.

The Giro d’ Italia begins Oct 3. The Giro is second to the Tour de France in fame. Another chance to spread Covid-19.

I think we may have to watch in real time the meaning of the phrase 'exponential growth'.

Even if each person only infects 3 others, soon those 3 each have infected 3 others, and the numbers go like: 1, 3, 9, 81, 243.

There will be cases outside the White House that we don't hear about: spouses, friends, supporters.

However, I hope that as of today, there will be strong measures to stop the spread. How could there not be?

Sure. It could spread into the hundreds of people infected. It's probably too late to stop the spread completely. JMO

That family is famous for exposing their political divisions on social media. But it's an interesting question regarding who makes a public announcement about their test results, and who keeps it private. IMO, in tight knit communities, you may as well announce it because it's everybody's business, the news will spread by gossip anyway. Not just Washington high rollers, but small, isolated communities.

ETA: meant to add that elsewhere, where there aren't such close ties, you can keep it private.

Is that true with other diseases like HIV? Does Covid-19 mean that personal heath information should be handled differently?

“The president's re-election campaign announced Friday that his events are being temporarily postponed, or moved to a virtual setting.

“All previously announced campaign events involving the president’s participation are in the process of being moved to virtual events or are being temporarily postponed,” Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien said Friday. “In addition, previously announced events involving members of the first family are also being temporarily postponed.”

Stepien added that “all other campaign events will be considered on a case-by-case basis and we will make any relevant announcements in the days ahead.”

The president announced his positive COVID-19 test results just before 1:00 a.m. Friday.”

Sorry, but your questions are too hard. I'm not an expert in health information policy, this is just a forum for ordinary people to share information and opinions.

Fair enough. I can give you my opinion.

I think that a persons health information should belong to them meaning they get to decide who sees it whether they belong to a small community or if they are high rollers.

However, a President of the US, being an elected servant of the people does owe the citizens he serves the knowledge of the condition of his health. JMO

“Polis highlighted a recent trend in COVID-19 cases in the state:

  • Nine of the last 14 days there was an upward trend in cases.
  • Eleven of the last 14 days there was an upward trend in hospitalizations.
As of Oct. 1, there were 200 current hospitalizations due to COVID-19, the highest number since Aug. 9. The state's seven-day average positivity rate is at 3.42%, below the World Health Organization's recommended rate of 5%.

Notably, Putin has taken a very different approach to protecting himself from COVID-19 than Trump has.

Whereas Trump has frequently mocked mask wearers, including on the presidential debate stage Tuesday, held large rallies and often waded into large groups of people, Putin has essentially spent the last eight months or so in a coronavirus-free bubble.

Most of his public appearances have been via video conference. He has rarely met with the public or journalists in person since March, and when he has, those who went near him had to spend time in quarantine beforehand.

During the celebrations to mark the 75th anniversary of the Second World War in June, every aging veteran, including men and women in their late 90s, who stood with Putin on the podium had to spend two weeks in isolation.

Russian state TV has also shown video of special "disinfectant tunnels" that anyone who comes and goes from his official residence outside Moscow must pass through and get sprayed by a misted disinfecting solution.

"Additional measures that are undertaken by the president and his inner circle [are] OK. They are the leaders, and they protect the country, so they can take care of themselves a little bit more," said Drobnitski, the political analyst.

This is sad. The Solomon Islands have been so careful with everything. And the first case of covid has now been discovered in their country.


The Solomon Islands prime minister, Manasseh Sogavare, has just confirmed in a nationally televised address that one Solomon Islands student repatriated from the Philippines late last month has tested positive for Covid-19.

“It pains me to say we have lost our Covid-19 free status, despite our collective efforts to prevent the pandemic from entering our country.”

The student is in quarantine but is asymptomatic. He had been tested before leaving Manila – returning a negative result – but tested positive later in Honiara.

Sogavare said contact tracing and testing of medical staff attending to students was now taking place. All of the students who returned on the repatriation flight are undertaking a compulsory 14-day quarantine. The infected student - as well as two other suspected cases - have been taken into hospital isolation facilities.

“Fellow citizens, while we have been working to prevent the virus from reaching our shores, it is now with us. However … we are ready to identify it … to isolate it … to contain it … and to eliminate it.”

Sogavare announced that all repatriation flights of Solomon Islander citizens have been suspended until further notice.
