@maggieNYT

Conley says we are 72 hours into the diagnosis. We were told around 1 am on Friday morning that POTUS was positive, which is only 36 hours ago.

@PaulaReidCBS
Doctor was just asked about this discrepancy & says Thursday night they got PCR clarity......this did not clear this up and this would be a big misstatement. Also hasnt clarified why President would have started 48 hours ago...which would be prior to positive test.
I guess they have worked out who he caught it from -Hope Hicks maybe. Perhaps from when she actually get her positive result? Or backtracked to his last contact with her. MOO.

AND when the chairwoman, of the Repub Committee was with him on Friday, the day before the Rose Garden and was ALSO tested positive on Wednesday. SHE says she contracted from her son. She also went home to quarantine starting on Saturday, the day of the Rose Garden.

Was she supposed to attend the Rose Garden event?
Was she supposed to attend the debate?

When did her son test positive?
GOP's McDaniel tests positive for coronavirus

And we will have to see about effective contract tracing in Ohio as well.
Trump supporters in the region potentially exposed to COVID-19 from RNC chair's visit last week

A sad sad sad case for a pandemic that the person who may have set off such, so far into this pandemic, cannot be traced to the President of the United States of America.

Sad sad sad indeed as to science and state of affairs saying so important to track and trace. and that isn't happening with this worldwide event of the President of the United States getting such and so many others.

MOO

Congressman Lloyd Smucker (Pennsylvania) said he tested negative twice for the virus — on Sept. 26 prior to boarding Air Force One with the president and again on Sept. 29 prior to boarding Air Force Two with Vice President Mike Pence.

After the president's positive test result, Smucker said he met with the Office of the Attending Physician this morning, was administered a COVID-19 test, and advised that his interactions with the president last Saturday do not meet their definition of exposure.

The Attending Physician's office did not recommend that Smucker quarantine and he was cleared to vote on the House floor Friday.

Pa. congressman tested for COVID-19 after flying with Trump to rally

U.S. Rep. John Joyce has not answered if he's been tested after attending the rally Saturday. Joyce's spokeswoman said that the congressman rode on Air Force One and met briefly with the president.

Congressman Scott Perry was getting tested after attending the rally.

A spokesman for U.S. Rep. Fred Keller, who was with Trump in Middletown, said the congressman was taking “all the necessary precautions.”

U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly who recovered from having the coronavirus in the spring, also accompanied Trump to Middletown. A Kelly spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

What was VP Pence exposure? I dont need a link. Just a refresher. Had a funeral today. Sorry.

So sorry about the funeral. He was at the Saturday Rose Garden event for Amy Barrett and another event on Monday.

Saturday:
In one video, Lee, who disclosed his positive test result on Friday, is seen hugging at least two other attendees, and other images show guests shaking hands and chatting in close proximity. Lee appears to have been seated directly behind Vice President Mike Pence at the event. Tillis was seated directly behind U.S. Attorney General William Barr.
How did Trump get COVID and who has he infected?

Monday:
Trump also holds a Rose Garden event to announce an administration effort to distribute millions of coronavirus test kits to states. The event is attended by administration officials including Vice President Mike Pence, members of Congress and state officials.

Dont you follow the 14 day self isolation rule there if you have had close contact with a person who tested positive?

Maybe different states have different guidelines, I get confused.

It's v clear here in the UK.
With the VP, if you have had 7 days with no symptoms and two negative tests maybe it makes a difference. The 72 hours with the President must take him back to when he was exposed to the person he got it from. He did not know that person was positive and possibly neither did the individual know at the time, especially if they had a recent negative test. The dubious negative tests could be the problem IMO.

I think it is confusing, because if the isolation and quarantine time limit is 14 days, that must mean that say on day 13 the virus could present. Whether the incubation would show a positive result, I have no idea.

Debate - Tuesday
Rally in Wisconsin - Wednesday
Fundraising event in NJ - Thursday
Positive covid - Friday 1:00am (from test on Thursday)

Officials at the White House have known about Ms. Hicks’s likely diagnosis since Wednesday evening, when she traveled with the president aboard Air Force One to Minnesota for a campaign rally in Duluth. One person familiar with the events on Wednesday said that Ms. Hicks began exhibiting minor symptoms around the time of Mr. Trump’s rally, and that she was quarantined on the return flight to Washington and then disembarked from the back entrance of the plane.

Trump Says He’ll Begin ‘Quarantine Process’ After Hope Hicks Tests Positive for Coronavirus
The Wednesday rally was Minnesota not Wisconsin IIRC.

His doctor has clarified that he had no contact with a positive case and has had two negative tests so does not need to quarantine. I guess they have worked it out by CT.

You’re right. He cancelled the two Wisconsin rallies scheduled for this weekend.

o_O It gets crazier:

Republican party officials in the state of Maryland meanwhile have asked supporters to gather outside the hospital in support of the president.

"Pick up your friends, pick up your family, and head to Walter Reed Hospital now," a mass email read.

Maybe so, but Senator Mike Lee, who tested positive recently, was sitting right behind Pence at the Rose Garden event (link a few posts back). He was the one hugging people...not that he necessarily hugged Pence. Since so many cases have emerged from that event, if I were Pence I’d want to err on the side of caution. But that’s just MOO.

Chiefs QB who simulated Cam Newton in practice also positive for COVID-19 (report)
This likely isn’t what the Kansas City Chiefs meant when they asked their practice squad quarterback to simulate Cam Newton.

Shortly after news broke that the New England Patriots quarterback had tested positive for COVID-19, news emerged that the Chiefs had a positive case in their locker room as well. According to ESPN’s Dianna Russini, practice squad quarterback Jordan Ta’amu had tested positive after spending the week playing the role of Newton against the Chiefs' starting defense this week.

Just tell them to wear a cloth mask or a non-medical mask like the rest of the population, if you think that’s foolproof.

Here in Melbourne we have to wear properly fitting masks, no bandanas or scarves.

Secondly what is foolproof? Seatbelts aren’t foolproof. Condoms aren’t foolproof. Yet they both save millions of lives.

Why the hate on masks?

SOUTH CAROLINA has been experiencing some glitches in their Electronic Lab Reports (ELR) but supposedly got that fixed yesterday.

Consequently, today's percent positive is 32.6%.

DHEC announces 649 new COVID-19 cases, 31 additional deaths in SC | wltx.com

"The total number of individual test results reported to DHEC yesterday statewide was 1,991 (not including antibody tests) and the percent positive was 32.6%.

The high percent positive reported out today is a result of the delayed electronic lab reports (ELRs) that DHEC is processing, as detailed in yesterday’s news release. A detailed breakdown of the delayed test results per day during the time period affected, Sept. 24-Oct 2., is being compiled and will be provided."

Total confirmed cases: 145,953 (+649)
Total confirmed deaths: 3,243 (+31)

BBM - I love my mask. In fact, I would wear a mask that said "I love my mask" - lol.
