This is one time I really wish I wasn’t this “organic, no chemical” person lol. I don’t even take Tylenol unless I’m dying, and had to go through the ringer to finally accept taking medication for my conditions. This is also one reason I smoke so much weed, because I don’t want to take prescription medications or “chemicals”. But sometimes you have to, which is seeming to be the case here!! I don’t eat anything with chemicals or preservatives in my food, etc. and have never trusted pharmaceutical companies. I’m about as granola as a Colorado person can be. Now, before everyone jumps down my throat and calls me an anti vaxxer, this is not the case, I never said I wouldn’t take the vaccine. :D I’m just scared (and obviously I’m not the only one) and want to start opening up this discussion so collectively we can address any and all concerns and get through them together, and be fully ready and comfortable for this bad boy when the time comes.

Leaders know that many people are scared, which is exactly why they’re doing what is posted in the above quote.

All of our efforts here have been for productivity’s and education’s sake. So let’s get rolling on this campaign to help educate and make people feel more comfortable, including myself. :)

This am update and he first covers hospitalization rates in US... and discusses "vaccine race" and how Moderna and Pfizer are for profit... vs. AstraZeneca/Oxford at cost.

As always, he does quick notes under the video if you want to do a quick overview to the video.

If there is one thing the US and Brazil have done, it is to show us all how much a vaccination is needed.

I, too, am a no chemicals, no preservatives, no processed foods (except chocolate ... and Vegemite :D), use exercise and diet to control medical ailments as much as possible type of person. I never even had the flu vac until my DD nagged and nagged and nagged me. My immune system has been pretty darn good, to date.

But I will have this vaccine, when it is available to me.

Our Prime Minister has said we are not going to alter our vaccine schedule, I don't think we will even start it till March next year. There are too many places that need it before us. But when it is eventually my turn, I will go for it. We have to get rid of this virus. The alternative is too horrendous. Years of being under its domination.

I eat preservatives, but like you... I don't take ANY medications unless I have to. e.g. for pain when I had my bones cut and reset with pins... bring on the pain drugs! Heck, I don't even take aspirin unless DYING of a headache etc or ibuprophen for other pain..But for cholesterol lowering etc...total nix. I kind of laugh at those commercials for those little inconveniences of living life.. and then at the end of the commercial they run on with all the side effects. I told my doctor I will not take cholesterol lowering drugs once I saw side effects on the PPI (patient package insert). So instead, after a few years of me refusing, she had me go and get a cardiac CT ($100... much less than cost of drugs) and I scaled a ZERO. So, since my family has no history of such issues.. I felt good about my decision.

All above said.. I got an MMR (measles mumps rubella which some say actually may cross protect for COVID19) booster at age 48, got my pneumonia vaccine a few years back, I get annual flu vaccine shots every year, and just this year had my first of two Shingrex for shingles vaccine.

I believe in vaccines. I HATE drugs and how those often really are worse than the condition MOO. I take NOTHING daily except my Vitamin D and other supplements due to COVID these days. But I research and educate which many don't do. It's due to education and sharing here at WS that I'm even doing the vitamin D. THANKS TO ALL!

Just saying.

Come along for the ride, and we'll educate each other and question each other during this journey together at WS.

I really do appreciate that folks are sharing their feelings in general as to vaccines as it helps to understand their inherent bias and angst as they post. (This is meant to be a positive supportive comment, not a judgement at ALL)

ETA: Ha! Just thought of something. Remember how young women took the birth control pill. Well.. I'm one who refused such when in college due to side effect... as that is how much I was against drugs iykwim. Never took them.

The researchers found that 97 percent of people who were asymptomatic or had mild symptoms, and 100 percent of those with moderate or serious symptoms, had what are called neutralizing antibodies in their systems.

The antibodies are a type of protein produced in the body after an infection. They are believed to weaken viral activities and prevent further infections.

The researchers say that stronger antibodies tended to be found in people who were in serious condition.

'Worst day' so far: LA County reports 7,593 new COVID-19 cases, shattering daily record
...
"Today, Tuesday, December 1, 2020, is the worst day thus far of the COVID-19 pandemic in Los Angeles County," said county health director Dr. Barbara Ferrer.

"However, it will likely not remain the worst day of the pandemic in Los Angeles County. That will be tomorrow, and the next day and the next as cases, hospitalizations and deaths increase. Every resident and every business needs to take immediate action if we are to dampen this alarming surge. We are in the middle of an accelerating surge in a pandemic of huge magnitude."
...
---------------------------------
I think the Thanksgiving super surge has begun here and everywhere. Truly scary time is here to stay.
It's time to heed the advise from the WHO Chief - Act Now, Act Fast, Act Decisively. Do what Australia did. We have no time to mull over what to do next. Only a stricter lockdown can help us now, imo.

So here is what our fellow citizens are doing in response to this super surge: i just saw on the Today Show: In Staten Island they closed down in-door dining in this restaurant and fining the owner-- so, our fellow citizens took to the streets by the thousands to protest!!!!! Good luck trying to bring this virus under control. These selfish clueless people are killing the rest of us and they don't care!!!!

If anything, I want to get over my fears because this is not only about me, this is about everyone. As Dr. Mike says, “Nobody is safe until we are all safe”. While it seems to be easy for so many, I refuse to be that person who does anything to jeopardize the safety of others. So, it’s either remain isolated and in this house til I die (which frankly is unreasonable), or take the vaccine.

So here is what our fellow citizens are doing in response to this super surge: i just saw on the Today Show: In Staten Island they closed down in-door dining in this restaurant and fining the owner-- so, our fellow citizens took to the streets by the thousands to protest!!!!! I wonder how many people will be hopping on a plane to Australia, New Zealand, Canada, etc. when this is over. I personally am not sure if I can ever get over the selfishness and stupidity of some of my fellow Americans. Some may say, “fine, get out then”. So be it. I prefer to live in a more caring and socially responsible culture. I’m optimistic wrt the virus under the new administration’s very conscious efforts to unite and end this pandemic, however that doesn’t change the fact that half the country doesn’t seem to care about others’ safety. Jmo.

COVID turns everyone into potential serial killer by breathing | Opinion

A very intense article "Covid turns everyone into a potential serial killer- by breathing'

“So far, I’ve been fortunate. But not a day goes by that I don’t wonder whether my streak of good luck is about to end, because the person in front of me in the grocery line is wearing a mask below his nose — expelling a cloud of radioactive COVID dust that I cannot escape, short of dropping $50 on the conveyor belt and trying to outrun the security guard.

With alcoholism, opioid addiction or smoking, we stand a fighting chance. But COVID-19 has turned the most necessary part of living — breathing — into a deadly event. If there’s anything that can make us hate our neighbors, it is the possibility that their very existence — every breath they exhale — could be lethal.“

Again, where are we on studies re: nose exhalation and droplets/viral load?

I hate drugs of any kind: I have high cholesterol but i have never taken the drugs for that condition. I feel like so many drugs are poison. Now sometimes you have to take meds for whatever reason. I have never had a flu vaccine-- why? I remember in 1976 (or around that time) there was the swine flu vaccine-- and what happened with that? Some people got Guillian Barre Syndrome, a very serious neurological condition that causes paralysis and sometimes death. I don't think i have ever had the flu.

But I will take the vaccine- despite the fact it will make me feel like crap for a few days because the benefit in this situation exceeds the risk-- This virus is so deadly, so evil, so horrific, that I will hold my nose and just do it.

Let us not forget the whole transverse myelitis thing.

Again, the goal here is NOT to disrupt and dissuade vaccine confidence, rather the intention here is to approach all concerns head on and work through everything. I want all of us to feel comfortable. I’m scared. Maybe @Colorado303 can wear a beekeeper suit and hold my hand. :D

I want to get the vaccine but i will probably wait a bit-- in this article they quoted information from information involving the flu vaccine, which in 1976 was most likely related to the development of Guillian Barre Syndrome: At that time, I said no thanks to a vaccine and feel that way about the flu vaccine.

I think I may recall a PC where Doc T was talking quite a while back, and it was very educational and made me feel more confident. I’ll see if I can find it.

I did a post a little bit ago which spoke to such. They said per hour iirc.. I'll try to drill and find the video or article. Was lower than I thought.

Yep, I'm with you. Holding your hands if you'll hold mine. As I said upthread... I'm hesitant and hoping all is well and anticipate my decision won't be have to be made until May/June.. and know that all here will be monitoring to help us with pros/cons!

Yes, us non-frontlines people certainly have time to watch and see how things go.

My health worker friend on the frontlines said she doesn't feel comfortable at this time. Looks like she is going to have to make a decision FAST.

@dixiegirl1035, I always appreciate you, but I especially appreciate you now as we move into this next phase. Thank you in advance to you and everyone who will be bringing educational resources forward.

Just now, covering the Staten Island bar talked about upthread. They have many orders posted on their door, and police outside in the report. He lost his liquor liscense and is being fined $1,000/day

The Vaccine Confidence Project

“By listening for early signals of public distrust and questioning and providing risk analysis and guidance, we aim to engage the public early and pre-empt potential programme disruptions.“
—-

“What is the Vaccine Confidence Project™?

Vaccine confidence concerns the belief that vaccination – and by extension the providers and range of private sector and political entities behind it – serves the best health interests of the public and its constituents. The Oxford English Dictionary defines confidence as “the mental attitude of trusting in or relying on a person or thing”. In light of that, we are not examining the well-studied domain of supply and access barriers to vaccination, but rather what is typically called the “demand” side of immunisation. However, our focus on confidence takes the “demand” rubric a step further than the more traditional notion of building demand through increasing knowledge and awareness of vaccines and immunisation to understanding what else drives confidence in vaccines, and the willingness to accept a vaccine, when supply, access and information are available. In other words, understanding vaccine confidence means understanding the more difficult belief-based, emotional, ideological and contextual factors whose influences often live outside an immunisation or even health programme but affect both confidence in and acceptance of vaccines.“

For the first time ever, 4 WHO’s divisions, UNICEF, CDC, GAVI, member states, technology companies (Pinterest, Facebook, YouTube, Microsoft and Google), academia and VSN members were all in one room to strengthen ties paving the way for collaborations to surface trustworthy, science based, high quality vaccine safety information in the digital sphere.“

The Vaccine Safety Net workshop 15-16 October 2019

“VCP Mission

The purpose of the project is to monitor public confidence in immunisation programmes by building an information surveillance system for early detection of public concerns around vaccines; by applying a diagnostic tool to data collected to determine the risk level of public concerns in terms of their potential to disrupt vaccine programmes; and, finally, to provide analysis and guidance for early response and engagement with the public to ensure sustained confidence in vaccines and immunisation. This initiative also defines a Vaccine Confidence Index™ (VCI) as a tool for mapping confidence globally.”
