omgg :( :( :(

How can people behave like this????? How can people be so uncaring for others?

This is so horrific on so many levels and I wish I didn’t see it.
I watched that vid and I cannot understand why that woman would attack the young man for wearing a mask and then lie about him hitting her, and incite other (non mask wearing) customers to attack him. She tries to ram him with the the trolley and he holds it off and then she is chasing him up the aisle screaming at him and trying to hit him.

Wants her 15 minutes of fame.

I’ve seen a lot of horrific things to date, we all have. Words can not express how much that video has upset me.

George Whitmore, legendary climber of El Capitan, dies at 89

One more added to the growing list. How many more of our "Greatest Generation" are going to be stolen from us because of this virus? People may say that at 89...he had a long life. But, this virus, that has killed so many, is still claiming more lives every single day.

FDA says people need both doses of coronavirus vaccines - CNN

More at link
CNN)Anyone who receives the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine must get two full doses, two top US Food and Drug Administration officials said Monday.

They also dismissed other ideas for stretching the vaccine supply and said people who are speculating about the possibility of making do with just one dose or cutting doses in half are misinterpreting the data.
"We have been following the discussions and news reports about reducing the number of doses, extending the length of time between doses, changing the dose (half-dose), or mixing and matching vaccines in order to immunize more people against COVID-19," FDA Commissioner Dr. Stephen Hahn and Dr. Peter Marks, who heads FDA's vaccine division, said in a statement.

A new year brings same problems with delayed vaccine distribution

"These are all reasonable questions to consider and evaluate in clinical trials. However, at this time, suggesting changes to the FDA-authorized dosing or schedules of these vaccines is premature and not rooted solidly in the available evidence. Without appropriate data supporting such changes in vaccine administration, we run a significant risk of placing public health at risk, undermining the historic vaccination efforts to protect the population from COVID-19," they added.

Haven't read the whole thread, but here are a couple of updates.

I saw earlier today that Larry King was moved out of the ICU and into a regular room, although he's still on oxygen. That sounds like a positive sign.

Steven Brandenburg, the pharmacist who destroyed 500 doses of vaccine, was storing food and other supplies in rental units, and his wife recently filed for divorce, stating that she felt that she and their two young children were no longer safe in his presence. He had also been known to have brought a gun to work at least twice, probably another sign of paranoia.

Prosecutor: Wisconsin pharmacist thought vaccine was unsafe

Incredibly, as of now, his license is still active.

Montana lawmakers start session in midst of pandemic

Meanwhile, in Montana, our legislators are convening...note the lack of masks and social distancing...they must not have received the memo that the ICU is full here.

does MT have a motorcycle helmet law?.... because it is sort of the same thing if you fill up the ICU with a busted up head and use up the donated blood supply, IMO. masks are not even that protective(!) IMO, but no masks are zero protective. those people are really close together.

OMG you guys. We die at home now. Pray for us..

Amid COVID-19 surge, ambulance crews in L.A. County told to conserve oxygen, not to transport patients who have little chance of survival | KTLA

The situation in L.A. County hospitals is so critical that ambulance crews have been advised to try to cut back on their use of oxygen and not to bring to hospitals patients who have virtually no chance of survival. Officials now say they need to focus on patients with a greater chance of surviving.
...

They can't be running out of O2. The planet is filled with O2, but perhaps they aren't able to keep up with the demand because of how it is brought to the patient via their O2 equipment, which is more likely the limiting factor.

I'm sure it's more serious and more complex than just running out of O2, but if it helps, I bet nearly every veterinary hospital in LA has an O2 generating/concentrating machine which could be lent out to the hospitals. Remember how, back in February and March, veterinary hospitals donated their PPE? Maybe they could help out again.

Gov. Doug Ducey criticized after son Jack posts video of maskless partying

“You can't even convince your own son to respect the virus," the group continued, attaching photos of the governor attending a series of political events for President Donald Trump last year. "He's just following your lead by attending maskless super spreader events."

.... scientists estimate that 197-230 million Americans will need to be vaccinated against COVID-19 for life to finally return to normal.

Officials had months to prepare for the well-known "last mile" problem of turning vaccines into a vaccination program.

Dumping the vaccines on the states has had the same results as leaving masking decisions, testing, contact tracing and other responsibilities to the 50 governors: Some do a good job, some not so much, and the country ends up with a patchwork response to a national crisis.

The vaccination rate has ranged from about 14% in Georgia to nearly 50% in South Dakota.

The federal government can't do everything, but it can establish best practices and work more closely with states on vaccine administration, following examples set elsewhere.

There is no time to lose. This is a national emergency.

What happened to 100 million vaccination doses by the end of the year? Operation Warp Speed is being wasted as thousands are dying daily in America.

"A pharmacist who was arrested on charges that he intentionally sabotaged more than 500 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine at a Wisconsin hospital was “an admitted conspiracy theorist” who believed the vaccine could harm people and “change their DNA,” according to the police in Grafton, Wis., where the man was employed."

Pharmacist Accused of Tampering With Vaccine Was Conspiracy Theorist, Police Say

Oh boy.

" ....... prosecutors on Monday said the charges could be dropped to a single misdemeanor if the vials, which have yet to be tested, are still usable.

She (wife) asked that his time with their children be supervised, saying he had made alarming remarks. The six-year-old had quoted him as saying, “This is not our home; heaven is our home,” and “All the bad angels and the devil are going to burn in the lake of fire forever,” she wrote.

In an order signed Monday, the family court granted temporary sole custody to Ms. Brandenburg, finding that the children were in “imminent danger of physical or emotional harm.”

... the criminal court granted Mr. Brandenburg release on a promise to pay $10,000 if he did not show up for his next hearing, on Jan. 19. He was ordered to surrender any firearms; the prosecutor said the police had already confiscated some of his guns."
