I was vaccinated with moderna a little over 5 hours ago. So far, barely noticeable pain in that arm. I also didn’t feel her give it. If things like this can go wrong, they usually will with me. So we’ll see what tomorrow holds.
Let us know if things change, thanks for sharing JE..!

Side effects tend to be stronger after 2nd shot, so again, let us know how you feel when you get yours. Nice to hear directly from people who have actually experienced it.

Glad you got vaccinated. I hope you don't have any problems.

DH and I got our second Pfizer shot this afternoon. I got a headache afterwards but it went away with some pain medicine and I had no excuse not to cook dinner :D. I will have to wait and see if there will be more symptoms. DH is fine so far.

My DIL, a doctor, had 36 hours of pretty bad symptoms starting about 12 hours after her second Moderna shot.

I know of several people - hc workers - who’ve had bad symptoms I’m wondering if they’ve had cv already /asymptomatic. I also know lots more people who had no issues. (No link)
Eta it’s mostly only hc workers twice vaxed right now here.

Yes, I'm "ready or not but here I come!" I mean, nobody wants the side effects. I'm not ready for that but I'm ready for the protection.

Not two seconds before I saw your save the world post, I posted this on Facebook:

Have you ever wished you could save the world ? Well, you finally can! Get vaccinated, wear your mask properly, and continue social distancing.

I teach middle school social studies IRL and I feel so bad my kids have to wear masks all day because of the pandemic. It must really suck for them not being able to be around all of their friends, etc.
:(

I'm hoping that government employees get vaccinated ASAP. My dad is one and he's 55+ and underweight, so I worry about him. Hopefully he can get it soon.

If I may ask, how are lunchtime and specials handled? I can't even fathom teaching face-to-face now. I can only imagine trying to socially distance 30 middle schoolers in a classroom...

The kids are socially distanced at tables and. I think electives are also social distancing. PE does sports not involving touching things. The music classes have singing with masks. I think Band is also distanced too.
My classroom has socially distanced desks and I record my lessons for the students to work on. It actually does really well, they can go at the pace they need to. I've seen a rise of test scores (in person!)

I just cannot imagine. Maybe I've only worked in schools with high populations and tiny classrooms. Middle school is probably a lot better for not doing that gross kid stuff lol. I assume the best way to socially distance at lunch would be to split the kids up by grade level for lunch to have less kids in the cafeteria at a time. I feel bad for specials teachers right now especially. I can't imagine it's easy to teach a PE class without touching anything.

I know many students are really struggling with online classes (and this is from a college perspective) but I've been doing great online, although I know my experience is not necessarily the norm.

Update on the covid infected hotel guard in Perth ... the silly blighter delivered medications to the door of the covid positive returned travellers, and it is possible he wasn't wearing a mask! (He doesn't remember  )
If that is not the height of complacency, I don't know what is.

I figured there was more to this story. And I stand by my previous statement that it only takes one person making foolish choices to impact many. What a travesty.

Fortunately, we are all prepared to work together here, to overcome the dangers of bringing back infected people from all over the world.
It is a good thing that we have only had one or two foolish people so far.

Western Australia has again recorded no new locally-acquired cases of COVID-19, leaving the state on track to end its five-day lockdown on Friday as planned.

Mr McGowan said the zero case number for community transmission was the news the state had hoped for at this stage.

"It's a result that was only achieved because West Australians were willing to do what was needed to be done to keep our state safe," the Premier said.
WA records no new local COVID-19 cases for fourth day in a row, as Victorian travel rules remain

Frustrating for people who are in the eligible tiers and can not get a slot, and at the same time, good to know so many want the vaccine

I'm still concerned. When you have 330 Million people, and even assuming only 1/2 of them really want to get the vaccine, you still have a ton of people willing to get it.

My worry is at the point when those who Want the vaccine have received it, and we hit a wall, with the majority of those not yet vaccinated, refusing to get it. If 30-40% won't get vaccinated, there will be no way to reach herd immunity in the U.S.

BBM. I have heard of that a lot. Maybe younger peope have more symptoms because of their more robust immune systems?
