Positive Covid cases in the UK have gone up slightly today, for the first time in ages week on week. I assume this is because around 5 million secondary school children and teachers are getting tested twice a week now they are back at school - there are bound to be some who are asymptomatic but positive.

Hopefully this doesn't also translate to an increase in hospitalisations/deaths.

Actually it's saying that people over age 65 make up 80% of all Covid deaths. Not that 80% of those over age 65 who died, did so as a result of Covid.

I meant to say what you said, but phrased it wrong

Thank you, I was thinking the same thing and was glad to see your comment.

Tonight, President Biden will announce that he is instructing the states to make every adult eligible to receive vaccination by May 1st.

Now THAT was just the speech this country needs. Biden said “I need YOU.” And he acknowledged in detail the losses everyone has endured during the last year with heartfelt compassion.

article I did not like:

Utah mom Kassidi Kurill dies days after second dose of COVID-19 vaccine

wish they better understood this clotting effect

Yikes that's scaring me. My 30 year old son got his 2d shot 10 days ago. On the day after he got the shot he woke up with a pulse of 130. We tried to wait it out but took him to the ER couple days later. They sent him home on a Xanax and with hyrdoxine and told him to see a cardiologist which we will do tomorrow. His bloodwork was good, but now, in addition to the tachy (which has come down a bit to the low 100s)he has developed nausea. Worried about him...

It seems that Kassidi went into liver failure, followed by kidney and heart shut down. I didn't see anything in the article about clotting.

There is some concern about people with liver disease and the vaccines. And, as the article said, there are younger people walking around with undiagnosed organ issues.

"As we usher in the new era of SARS-CoV-2 immunisation, it is now of fundamental importance to examine the effect of new vaccines on patients with liver disease, for whom evidence is thin yet clinical consequences profound."

I hope he is okay: Let us know what the doctor says: It does make one pause a bit at the thought of getting the 2nd shot (which I am due for in 14 days)-- I read that Moderna has 92 percent efficacy fourteen days after the first shot so my question would be, why do we need the 2nd shot????

They say it is because you need the booster for longevity. I was just reading something tonight that said while one shot is good, the immunity from a single dose only lasts for 80-90-120 days.
We need the 2nd shot to prolong the effectiveness. To build a stronger resistance.

The second shot may be to ensure that it lasts longer. I’m not sure if they know how long the protection lasts. I was told to wait 90 days after having the monoclonal antibody infusion at the end of January. When I researched why, it was to make sure the antibodies didn’t interfere with the vaccine, but the 90 days was not based on any tests, just guesswork. Most people I know are not having really bad reactions to the second shot, so I plan to get both when my 90 days are up at the end of April. I do understand your concern though because in a way we are all guinea pigs!
