It’s a mystery why anyone would want the disgusting Katie Hopkins in their country in the first place… absolutely vile woman who is loathed in the UK. Well done, Australia, for showing her the door!!

My niece was able to book her shots today. Now that supplies are here and will keep coming every week. First shot 14th August, second one on 4th September. :)

The first influx of Pfizer vaccines is going to Sydney and to our state of Victoria, as they are struggling a bit at the moment (they are both in lockdowns). Then they will start dispersing them to the rest of us after that.

August 14 - September 4 is 18 days. Is she receiving Pfizer? Pfizer flooded into Canada, but when people needed their second shot, only Moderna was available. AstraZeneca was banned. That led to mixing vaccination types.

"COVID-19 vaccines are not interchangeable. If you received a Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, you should get the same product for your second shot.

The timing between your first and second shots depends on which vaccine you received.
  • If you received the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, you should get your second shot 3 weeks (or 21 days) after your first.
  • If you received the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine, you should get your second shot 4 weeks (or 28 days) after your first."

Yes, Pfizer. She didn't have much choice with her dates due to work commitments. They are fine with her going a couple of days early. They do try to do the 2nd shot 3 weeks later ... my DD and SIL both had Pfizer, each shot 3 weeks apart.

AstraZeneca is 12 weeks between shots, they let me have my 2nd one after 11 weeks instead.

We are probably not in any position to worry about a few days - we need to get shots in arms as quick as we can.

Former "guy"? No. But President Donald Trump sent most small businesses money to help them through economic hardship due to Covid-19, with no strings attached.
We were recipients.

Wait a minute here! With all due respect…but former guy D Trump sent you $8 grand???

Vaccines might have different mechanisms, but they all work on the same principle-express spike protein so body can build up immunity to it. Mixing vaccines seems to be working pretty well, based on the data available so far.

My venture of COVID like illness is too exhausting, but will try to document here. Cascade of events for sure.

Symptoms started Monday, July 5th night. Coughing/mucus/ throwing up (I throw up as I get grossed out by bringing up plegm) and generally feeling ill as heck. NOTE: I used to get at least once a year due to allergies in my yard kicking up, and these are cascading reactions that mirror COVID due to my COPD iykwim. I knew exactly what was happening.

I have new doc this year due to going with Kaiser.. so when I did a video visit on Thursday to get Augmentin and steroid pack (5,4,3,2,1 type package) with a random doc finally after 3 days in bed coughing/sick/100.2 temp/phlegm /headache etc...they wouldn't give me what I needed until I went in and got chest xrays and doc visit days later. They said they needed to check for COVID. I was grrrrr, I live alone and no exposures. So contacted them back and next day Friday and asked to do the COVID drive through (25 miles round trip while sick as a dog)... and asked if negative, would they THEN give me my steroids and Augmentin? They said yes, so Friday I get PCR (negative) and then that night finally got started Augmentin and Steroids. The Augmentin made me throw up and dry heave for 2 hours that night. So next day, got Odenesteron for throwing up. By then... this reaction had turned probably into pneumonia. Hell, I probably aspirated those days of throwing up.

Still sick... so this past Wednesday when dead tired and couldn't finish a sentence without stopping to catch my breath, called in and then I got albuteroll and a longer lasting puff steroid ($$$).

Still have rales and rattling 12 days later. This usually take a month to clear.

I'm telling you, it was scary as chit not being able to breathe. How do they even clear out mucus and phlegm when people are on ventilators if they cannot cough and bring it up and out? My oxygen saturation was REALLLLLLLLLLLLLY low one am upon wakening. I've now learned that horizontal and sleeping = lower levels. Also learned that when you wake up coughing, it's probably your body saying WAKE UP, your O2 levels are dangerously low!

Anyhoooooo...... no COVID, but my experience mirrored COVID MOO.

ETA: I started doing those breathing excercises that the guy on the Princess talked about.. at least why I remember he said.. pretended I had a spirometer! (If anyone has at their fingertips his explanation of what to do, please post, TIA)

ETA #2: Back on daily allergy pills, and guffenesin OTC also

@margarita25 , consider this an update for ya!

Oh gosh! That's awful! I'm so sorry you're going through this. In the past, most colds, flu, etc., would settle in my lungs and I'd cough horribly (all that phlegmy stuff) for a couple of months, so I can relate. During those times, I am a stomach sleeper but never during other times.

Have you gotten the two pneumonia shots? Prevnar 13 and Prevnar 23? They prevent pneumonia from developing from colds and flu. First shot one year, and the second shot the next year. For about four years now, I've been virtually cough-free and I don't think it's a coincidence. I think the shots worked.

I'm glad you don't have covid, but you did catch something awful.

Feel better. Soon!

It looks like some will be masking again, and that's probably wise.

"U.S. Surgeon General Vivek H. Murthy said Sunday that he supports individual counties reinstating mask mandates to combat local surges of the coronavirus among unvaccinated people — like Los Angeles County did last week — as the pathogen’s highly contagious delta variant drives a spike in infections and the Biden administration seeks to project a sense of cautious optimism about the country’s return to normalcy."

That's good news!

This is what happens when the world pretends the virus is gone---

The Western World is pretending that the virus is gone. It's not enough to make it stop, so far.

You betcha! I've done the shingles x2, the pneumo shots etc etc etc etc etc. Thanks for the reminder, as others here perhaps need to learn such.

I just finished my 10 day routine on the Augmentin, so antibiotics are done. And agree, it will be (Hopefully by then) a month or two before this wheeze and rales are gone. Using albuterol and a long term steroid inhaler to get back to 100%, along with Guffanesein.

I finally could do stuff and exert yesterday.. and mowed my backyard and 1/2 of the front. I have a battery powered self propelled Ego lawnmower, so I just push a button (too old to pull a cord these days) and walk behind it. I did the mulch option vs. bagging this time so less chance of breathing in allergens also. I HIGHLY recommend battery powered mowers for folks that like to exercise by walking behind a mower!

I can NEVER sleep on stomach... side sleeper here.

U.S. Women’s Gymnast Alternate Tests Positive for COVID in Tokyo Olympic Chaos

Jul. 19, 2021 8:04AM ET

Some might say the 2020 Tokyo Olympics was doomed from the start. The number of COVID-19 cases inside the Olympic Village is climbing at such a quick pace that the Olympics committee has started an online ticker to keep track.

Early Monday, the toll finally hit home for Team America: The U.S. women’s gymnastics team confirmed that one of its alternate members had tested positive for COVID-19, putting the whole team at risk of missing their competition as they self-isolate. The infection was detected in the city of Narita, about 35 miles from the main Olympic venue.

The U.S. team did not identify the athlete.

FYI: If 6 am eastern, is 7 pm their time for Olympics for those that will follow

This Bloomberg article says that Canada has now surpassed the US in fully vaccinated people.

48.8% of the population is fully vaccinated in Canada (55% of all age-eligible people).
48.6% of the population in the US.

On Monday, they expect Trudeau to announce changes to the US/Canada border (on the eve of a likely election campaign). Not sure if that means today, or next Monday.

They have now approved Pfizer for children aged 12 and over.

Agreed. We still live like "Covid", not going out, or traveling. Insanity reigns here, there was a "Pride Parade" here the other day, bars were packed with people singing, hugging, drinking, dancing...great fun?! Hasn't the last year taught anyone anything?
For too many, the only lesson learned in past year is they are ready to party again.

I have been very disappointed in Urgent Care Centers: From now on I will go to the ER-it seems to me they don't get the best docs at Urgent Care centers.
A couple years ago I had severe abdominal pain so I went to Urgent Care: the doc was not too swift- he ordered an abd x-ray and said he saw ileus- I just knew that could not be correct- I knew I needed more so I went to the ER where they did a CAT scan of the abdomen and diagnosed acute diverticulitis. There was no ileus.
