I knew someone, who actually DIED from Covid. It is so real when that happens. It is mind boggling to me, that there are still people who think Covid is a big drama..."It is just flu.". No, you don't get flu on Monday, can't breathe on Tuesday, end up on a ventilator by Thursday, your family plans a funeral the next week.

Yes, it is that fast! I am still freaked out by it.

These companies have probably received notices from their liability insurance providers that they will not be covered in the case of a covid outbreak unless all workers have been vaccinated.

Actually, it might not yet be true, but I suspect that soon it will be a motivating factor for companies to have vaccinated workers. After all, nothing motivates companies to act like a threat to their profit margin.

They could also be trying to stop interruption to their businesses. By keeping a 'healthy' business environment.

There is a lawsuit that was dismissed in the US. A group of oral surgeons tried to claim business interruption loss through their insurance company (due to losses incurred by covid closures). They were denied by their insurance company. So then they filed suit, and the judge dismissed their suit.

First Appellate Ruling Holds COVID-19 Business Losses Are Not Physical Loss or Damage [Alert]

In fact, more than 1,900 lawsuits have been filed ... along the same lines.
The appeal of COVID-19 business interruption appeals

" .... owners are discovering that BI insurance does not cover the interruptions caused by COVID-19 as the damage is not considered “physical”. That means even those who are covered for BI insurance policies are not necessarily covered for interruptions due to the pandemic."

Two travellers who arrived in Toronto from the United States have been fined for providing fake COVID-19 proof of vaccination documents and lying about pre-departure tests.

The Public Health Agency of Canada says the travellers also didn’t comply with requirements to stay at a government-authorized hotel or to get tested upon arrival.

The agency says in a news release Friday that the travellers arrived last week and have been handed four fines totalling $19,720 each.

Canada eased quarantine requirements on July 5 for fully vaccinated Canadians and foreign nationals with an exemption to enter the country, but they must upload their proof of vaccination documents to the ArriveCAN app before entry.
...

The public health agency is warning that all travellers are obligated to answer questions truthfully and that providing false information or documents to government officials upon entry to Canada is a serious offence.

The agency says violating quarantine or isolation instructions when entering Canada could lead to a $5,000 fine for each day of non-compliance or each offence, or more serious penalties including six months in prison or $750,000 in fines.

Left my home today to come down to my little boat in San Diego.
People are masked. Everywhere. Mostly outside in 80 degree weather. Walking by themselves.
Honestly. It seems no one trusts the science. Even myself.
Such a sad day.
I do know that there's no Covid on my little boat in the ocean with me, myself and I.
But. I'm fortunate to have this escape.
My husband is working with tens of dozens of people, face to face everyday.
Most people are working with or for other people.
The fear factor is through the roof.
I curse this virus everyday.

On the ground report. Where I am this evening, is at a VERY large Marina in San Diego, Ca. It is July 30th. Weather here is 80 degrees.
Normally, this place would be hopping.
It is truly, deserted. Nobody is here.
Nobody.
A!I of these yachts, sailboats, in Prime time. Deserted
Wow.

When Anne Elliott moved to the UK in 2019 the plan was to enjoy a carefree working holiday before returning to Australia for the serious stuff: marriage, mortgage, kids.

Elliott, a critical care nurse, took a job at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in the heart of the city. A few months later COVID-19 had begun to spread and when the first wave hit the UK, she found herself on the frontline.

“We were completely blind-sided by the scale of it,” says Elliott who worked with critically ill COVID patients in the hospital's intensive care unit. “We had no PPE. We had cardboard walls with duct tape to corner off sections of the emergency and ICU to COVID patients. It took us completely by surprise.”

At work, Elliott cared for uncountable numbers of COVID-19 patients with stretched resources: watching on as the hospital's medical consultants were forced to choose which patients would be given access to the top level of care and placed on a ventilator. She estimates roughly 40 per cent missed out.

Nine months later Elliott had zipped more than 50 patients into body bags. “That number of deaths was just me on my shifts, one nurse. It was really, really hard,” she says, her voice shaking at the memory.

Now back in Australia, working at a large capital city hospital that is making preparations for an increase in COVID patients, Elliott wants to share her experience of fighting the disease.

“I think it's important to tell my story because it's totally unimaginable [to people in Australia],” she says.

I just want to revisit this article for a minute - for those who do not read the four phases of covid infection.

This is where the vaccine protection kicks in .......

"Within days the amount of virus in the body starts to affect its functioning. Symptoms such as a sore throat, headaches or loss of smell and taste emerge. A person with COVID-19 may get tested or isolate about now and the immune system ramps up in an attempt to kill cells containing the virus before it advances further.

The immune response will kick in faster, stronger and more effectively for those who have been vaccinated, ideally suppressing the illness before it even causes noticeable symptoms. But unvaccinated people don't recognise SARS-Cov-2 and it can take time for the immune system to learn how to attack it.

Parnis estimates that around 80 per cent of people mount an effective immune response that ultimately tackles and suppresses the virus."

Then the article goes on to explain what then can progress for the remaining 20% of people - in Phases Two, Three, and Four. With the fortunate ones being saved along the way.

Wow.
Wow. That’s bizarre.
It’s the opposite here. Boats out every day, people escaping the hot weather, empty boat slips on the weekend.
80 degrees sounds like a perfect temp.
Enjoy your retreat on your boat.

33 residents, staff of Cape Cod nursing home test positive for COVID
Cape cod/massachusetts

“Sounding the alarm”
Covid devastated nursing homes. Delta and staff vaccination rates could wreak havoc.

Health officials in some states have begun sounding the alarm about coronavirus outbreaks among long-term care facility and nursing home staff and residents as the highly contagious delta variant fuels cases in communities across the country.

Covid-19 deaths in long-term care facilities have plunged with the availability of vaccines, and government data shows 81 percent of nursing home residents are now fully vaccinated. But the rise of the delta variant and concerns about the vaccination rate of the people working in those facilities, which in some states in the South is lower than 50 percent, has experts and advocates worried about outbreaks.

While experts said there is no data yet to suggest Covid cases are spiking widely in long-term care facilities and nursing homes nationwide, in some places, including Mississippi and Indiana, officials have said unvaccinated workers are spreading the virus.

In Mississippi, the state epidemiologist said Wednesday there were more than 100 outbreaks in long-term care facilities in the state, 72 of which were in nursing homes.

“The primary driver of those nursing home outbreaks are infections in unvaccinated staff and employees,” Dr. Paul Byers said during a video news conference. “Regrettably, in some cases, these infections are spilling over into the residents and into fully vaccinated residents at times.” Some of those cases among residents did result in severe illness, he said.

'I feel so lost': In five days, woman loses her mother, grandmother and fiancé to COVID-19
More at link
A Florida woman says she feels lost after losing her mother, her grandmother and her fiancé to COVID-19 in a span of five days.

Tiffany Devereaux told WXJT-TV that she had to skip her grandmother's funeral so she could say goodbye to her mother.

She also tested positive for COVID-19 but had mild symptoms. Most of her family wasn't vaccinated.

"I want my loved ones back," she told the TV station. "They're the ones that always got me through the hard times in my life and now they're all gone."

So sad. This is my county, and her story IS getting out there.........

“My fiancé and my mother and I -- none of us are vaccinated,” she said.

Devereaux said she’s now pushing for others to get vaccinated and plans to get a vaccine herself.

“My mom and fiancé, their last wish was for me to get vaccinated. They told me how painful this virus was,” Devereaux said. “I just want everyone to know how important this is.”

She hopes no other family has to experience the same heartbreak.

Disney and Walmart mandate vaccines for employees — CNN Business

“Disney and Walmart, two of America's largest employers, announced Friday that they are requiring employees be vaccinated.

Disney is requiring all its salaried and non-union hourly employees in the US to be vaccinated. Workers who are working on-site but are not yet vaccinated must do so within the next 60 days, according to a statement from the company to CNN Business. All new hires must be fully vaccinated before beginning their jobs

Walmart, the nation's largest retailer, said all its US-based corporate employees must be vaccinated by October 4, according to a Friday memo from Doug McMillon, the company's president and CEO.

While Walmart is not mandating that its store employees get vaccinated, it will soon implement a new process to verify their vaccine status, and is strongly encouraging workers to get vaccinated. As part of its push for vaccination, the company is offering employees the chance to get vaccinated while on the clock and up to three days paid leave for any reaction to the shot.”

I would think the store employees that interact with the unmasked public would be in line first versus corporate/home office associates?

Just wondering.... can DeSantis put pressure on Disney, given his stance on "no vaccine requirements"....

I will NEVER forget the Chinese people throwing their pets off of buildings to their deaths. Never. For as long as I live.

I take this as a strong positive! The mandates (I know they are highly unpopular in lots of circles) will push the number of vaccinated up when individual choice to vaccinate is falling. The more that are vaccinated the better position we are in for avoiding a new and even more deadly variant that goes around our current vaccines. Yea!!! A reason to hope.

They Spurned the Vaccine. Now They Want You to Know They Regret It.

PROVO, Utah — As Mindy Greene spent another day in the COVID intensive care unit, listening to the whirring machines that now breathed for her 42-year-old husband, Russ, she opened her phone and tapped out a message.

“We did not get the vaccine,” she wrote on Facebook. “I read all kinds of things about the vaccine and it scared me. So I made the decision and prayed about it and got the impression that we would be ok.”

They were not.

Some people hospitalized with the virus still vow not to get vaccinated, and surveys suggest that the majority of unvaccinated Americans are not budging. Doctors in COVID units say some patients still refuse to believe they are infected with anything beyond the flu.

“We have people in the ICU with COVID who are denying they have COVID,” said Dr. Matthew Sperry, a pulmonary critical care physician who has been treating Greene's husband. “It doesn’t matter what we say.”

What a brutal, awful way to die. :(

Covid-19 is ghastly evil-----I think most people do not realize or understand how this virus sickens and kills- the explanation of how the virus enters the body and does its damage was graphic and understandable- it is excellent
