Cags... do try to keep us informed of the analysis of the lowering numbers.... could that happen here?
Not sure what the parallels and contrasts would be.. but I know we have felt we are following you guys often....
Sorry Toots.. I KNEW you were down under...
"Nassau County had the most cases per capita in the nation."
And just helped get another friend into a ambulance to get to the ER. Waiting to hear..... I just know he has covid..he is trying to believe he has pneumonia...

Idk why I’m not seeing more about UK numbers in my daily news browse. Some on Twitter but harder to copy quotes/link the actual sources sometimes
aren’t we like 3 weeks behind uk trends in general ?
Also saw Germany and somewhere else? going to announce boosters. I think for older folks anyway. No link

Good, every state should do this. I see that for now, there is still the option of frequent testing for those unvaccinated. But I would not go to a nursing or rehab facility if there were unvaccinated staff (if I could find that out, I guess).

Yes at the very end of the article, Murphy says if it doesn’t work, he’s open to mandatory vaccinations in these fields, unless I misread it. I know without a doubt though, loopholes will still be found and those who think “Covid is stooopid” will stick together and stay silent. I’ve been watching it happen for 16 months now.
Study: Severe COVID, higher viral loads, immune response linked to obesity
Among US Military Health System (MHS) beneficiaries diagnosed as having COVID-19, obesity was independently and strongly associated with hospitalization, need for oxygen therapy, higher viral load, and an altered immune response, according to a prospective study late last week in the Journal of Infectious Diseases.
A team led by researchers from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, used logistic regression models to compare the viral loads and immune responses in obese and non-obese patients at seven military treatment sites, stratified by hospitalization. Patients were included if they had confirmed or suspected COVID-19 or had a recent high-risk exposure to the virus.
Underweight or normal body mass index (BMI) was considered less than 24.8 kg/m2, overweight was 25 to 29.9 kg/m2, obese was 30 to 34.9 kg/m2, and severely obese was 35 kg/m2 and higher.
Of 511 COVID-19 patients, 24% were obese, and 14% were severely obese. Obesity was tied to hospitalization (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 1.91) and need for supplemental oxygen (aOR, 3.39). Over three-quarters of COVID-19 cases occurred in overweight participants. Among outpatients, those who were severely obese had higher viral loads and greater peak anti–SARS-CoV-2 spike protein immunoglobulin G (IgG) concentrations.
I’m sure it WILL happen where you are, just got to let it burn through a few more folk yet. I read last week (don’t quote me on it as I can’t find the source) that a combination of vaccines and infections means around 87% of Brits have antibodies.
EDIT: found a link:
Scientists believe the UK may be close to achieving herd immunity against coronavirus as weekly case numbers continue to fall. There are hopes the end of the third wave may now be in sight after experts at University College London calculated the total population’s immunity is at 87%. The current threshold for herd immunity is 93% due to the contagious delta variant – which was originally detected in India – making the virus more transmissible.
