Omg. This is video is disturbing. You can see the people being forcibly quarantined. At 1:03-1:19 they haul away a woman and stick her in what appears to be a big white box in the back of a truck. You can hear her terrified screams from the box. A child watches from her window and says “I don’t want to be taken away like that”. :(

Regarding Ben: He did seem a little off but I think he might be worrying about his future. I don’t think he will be happy doing online teaching

I more worry about the girl “friend” he left behind (the one he went grocery shopping with before he left). He said she’s American and staying behind in Wuhan because she has 2 cats and didn’t want to leave them. I hope she is ok, I kept thinking about her all weekend. :(

Interesting. I like my pets, with the exception of risking my life for them, in a foreign country.

Netflix has a very timely show, "Pandemic".
Pandemic: Netflix's new series about global outbreaks is eerily timed, and moved me to tears

Yes it does. So do many other countries. I fear that now Mr. Chen has "disappeared" others will be too afraid to post videos of what they're seeing.
I wish that he had disguised himself.
I worry greatly for his well being.
He did nothing Wrong!
He just gave the world a glimpse of what was REALLY going on.
I think his actions have saved many lives.
I do believe that world leaders watched his videos. Realizing that this was much more serious then China was admitting.
Causing them to take actions that would protect their own citizens, that they may have delayed doing, without his expose videos.
I pray he survives. He is an absolute hero.

That government always treats it's people like cattle. It's like every apocalyptic or post-apocalyptic movie but it's real in that nation.

Some 3,600 passengers and crew on the World Dream ship were quarantined
amid fears some staff could have contracted the virus on a previous voyage.

Forgive me for not understanding this article, what is naming him going to do? There’s been contact tracing done. He didn’t know he was infected did he at the time of the spreading and he didn’t do it on purpose right? Why do they need to know his name? I guess I’ll read the article for a third time. I feel like I’m missing something. If I’m not mistaken and it’s the same patient, he did everything correct?

Many businesses across China are set to remain closed on Monday, despite the government’s ef

China’s State Council has urged critical industries — such as aviation — to resume operations as soon as possible, and most provinces have asked local businesses to reopen on Monday following an emergency 10-day extension to the annual Lunar New Year holiday.

Many cities, led by Beijing and Shanghai, are encouraging people to work from home, while some of China’s biggest technology companies, such as Alibaba and Meituan, have extended the holiday break to February 16 or later.

Foxconn, China’s largest employer and Apple contractor, will not resume production at its iPhone production plant in Zhengzhou, Henan province.

Some regions, including Heilongjiang province in northeastern China, have told employers to extend the holiday break by another two weeks.

According to one worker at a tyre factory in Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang, his company had recently resumed operations but was forced to close after two employees were diagnosed with the coronavirus.

Schools will also not be reopening on Monday. Nearly all provinces have delayed resuming classes at primary and secondary schools until February 16 at the earliest. Some major regions — such as the coastal economic powerhouses of Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Guangdong — have ordered schools to close for the rest of the month.

Many restaurants will also remain closed.

Coronavirus live updates: China says death toll tops 900 as confirmed cases cross 40,000
SUN, FEB 9 2020

  • China’s National Health Commission said it confirmed 3,062 new cases and 97 additional deaths, mostly in Hubei province.
  • As of Sunday night, the government said a total of 40,171 cases have been confirmed and 908 people have died in the country.
[...]

“Morgan Stanley analysts said in a research note that the disruption to supply chains due to the outbreak is seen as a “major concern for the global economy due to the integrated supply chains, especially in Asia.” Both China and the world economy are set to be affected in February and March, they said.

Many factories in China suspended operations as part of the country’s efforts to temper the spread of the coronavirus. Reports suggest those factories may remain closed for longer than expected (see 7:36 am update).”

A new analysis looking at data from different types of coronavirus has shown that many strains can live on surfaces such as glass, plastic or metal, for up to nine days.

Scientists Predict Coronavirus May Live For Up To Nine Days On Surfaces

This is very concerning. Apologies if already posted.

I haven't seen this posted before, perhaps it because this has nothing to do with this virus, just another MSM tracking on a click bait media talking on a previous non related non scientific coronavirus report?

I wondered the same thing. I don’t see what naming him would do at this point, nor did I see the article even address that part of their headline.

Per Arirang Korea News (another news outlet I’ve been watching on YT), from the most recent data from China’s National Health Commission:

“Numbers Stabilize
T
Number of new cases confirmed per day falls to 500 outside Hubei, compared to some 800 last week.”
At around 2:00 this is explained further. The reporter says that as of Sunday, new cases stand at 300.

(ETA: The anchor then says “well let’s hope we can trust those numbers coming out of the Chinese Government, there has been some controversy as to whether they are telling us the real scale of the crisis there.”

China sees record increase in daily coronavirus deaths; at least 908 dead in all

“There were also 3,062 new confirmed cases of the virus as of Sunday, bringing the total number of infections to 40,171.

At this point, the death count from coronavirus has far surpassed that of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) outbreak in 2003, where 774 people died and 8,000 were infected.“

—-

“The coronavirus now surpasses SARS in both the number of confirmed cases and fatalities. China’s cabinet-level National Health Commission on Sunday confirmed 3,062 new cases of infection, up from 2,656 on Saturday, bringing the total to 40,171. SARS infected 8,098 people during its outbreak.”

[...]

BBM:

Authorities also said hospitals released 632 patients who have recovered from the virus on Sunday, raising the overall count of discharged people to 3,281.

So, this means CV death toll also just now officially passed MERS too, right?

That was a very informative broadcast on many issues.

Wrt Chen Qiushi

"Meanwhile a chinese lawyer and citizen journalist
known for his video reports from Wuhan,
has gone missing.
According to his family, 34 year old Chen Qiushi
was detained in the name of quarantine by the police.
But they don't know his wearabouts.
Chen was gaining traction on chinese social media platforms
for his reports on the pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong.
And Chinese citizens are discouraged from discussing him online."

Wow. That guy doesn't want any free healthcare.

Interesting that someone took the video evidence and managed to get it out of China.
I've watched one of the videos, but really cannot tell if it's real, to be honest. The video is shot in an apartment building - but there is nothing to indicate where the building is or who the people are. I don't understand Chinese so perhaps there is something in the conversations, but it could be anyone anywhere making video and saying it's from a Chinese city.

I think it's real.

But I don't know it's real.

I am thankful for anyone risking their own safety to get info out, but also cautious to watch and read critically.

jmo

edited to add: the video I watched was something I found on my own, not through WS - I haven't watched any videos of forced removals since as it is disturbing and I am trying to limit my exposure on the virus topic (it was getting too much for me to follow everything). Anyway, just wanted to make that clear - perhaps videos posted here are totally legit, idk because I haven't clicked on them.
