Russia’s Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has signed an instruction to close the state border in the Far East as a measure to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

"A corresponding instruction was signed today. Work on it is already in progress. We will inform all those concerned properly about the measures to close the border in the Far Eastern region and other steps the government has taken [to prevent the spread of coronavirus in Russia]," Mishustin said in his opening remarks at the Cabinet’s meeting on Thursday.

I think something else to be learned could be how soon after infection the test will return as positive in a patient who currently shows no symptoms.

If the test returns as positive before symptoms such as coughing and sneezing, that should still help to restrict the spread. Even if the asymptomatic 'can' spread the disease, it's probably not going to be such strong spread as with a patient who is showing symptoms. So a fast-return test that could possibly be administered once or twice a day to those in the 14-day quarantine period could be a huge help.

I wonder about those that travelled together on the planes, and if there could be transmission among those evacuated.

Interesting in that in the past few days, there has been more planes out of Wuhan to Moscow than any other non-China/Japan destination. I guess they played nice with their friends the Chinese to get approval for those flights, but now that all out that they needed, bam, close the border.

Reuters reports:

The couple arrived in Italy on 25 January and boarded the ship, the Costa Smeralda, in the port of Savona that same day. They subsequently came down with a fever and are suffering breathing difficulties.

The liner has visited Marseilles in France, and the Spanish ports of Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca this week before docking on Thursday at Civitavecchia, north of Rome.

None of the 6,000 passengers and crew are being allowed off the ship while medical checks were carried out to see if the pair had the potentially deadly coronavirus, the company spokesman said.

I've never ever heard that. I've only heard it (SARS) was a natural (or unatural) jump from animals when investigated. Do you have a link that "it got out of the lab like SARS"? TIA as I think this may be misinterpretation of something.
