Who wanted dots? Here is an updated US map listing the areas within each State:

ai2html-output-540-wide.png

Does not transfer over from the link below, but at the link it reads:

1 - WA - Evergreen
2 - CA - Los Angeles and Orange Counties
1 - AZ - Maricopa County
2 - IL - Chicago

Six people have now been diagnosed with the new coronavirus in the U.S., two each in Illinois and California, and one each in Arizona and Washington state.

Coronavirus spreads for first time in U.S., CDC says

I can't find an Evergreen County or Evergreen city in Washington. I did find Evergreen State College in Olympia. Any locals who can determine where in Washington this Evergreen is?

A flight from Wuhan to San Francisco has not been in the media at all.

China Southern Airlines (CZ) #659 ✈ 30-Jan-2020 ✈ WUH / ZHHH - KSFO ✈ FlightAware

Wuhan Tianhe Airport (Wuhan, Hubei) ZHHH / WUH Flight Tracker ✈ FlightAware Arriving in less than 60 minutes. Let's just say a birdie is asking through facebook media channels on private message why this is not being covered in the news. Crickets as to a response other than one "thanks, we'll look into".

Is it due to a private airline and they don't want to report on? Is it because it is not government sponsored? I thought that no Chinese nationals were allowed out. This is in addition to the ones from Tuesday and last Saturday that were never reported on.

Hmmm, perhaps media was ASKED not to report on? Dunno. That's all I can figure out.

Thanks for keeping tabs on the flights.

Its what we are not hearing like info about this flight that has me concerned.

I want dots without the entire states colored in, lol!

But I guess this is a improvement.

Still seems misleading to me as it looks like large areas are affected, when it's only a total of 6 cases across the entire nation, at the moment.

This is the international worldwide map I like to use which has just dots. You can zoom way in to get a better view of the smaller case Dots and you can drag to the left or right to get to US map.

Clicking on any dot will give you the details for that area.

Another alert I just received-currently no visiting restrictions in place at our Ont. Hospital. I guess that could change dependant on WHO guidelines today or down the road.

Just saw an interesting question in the comments of another site.

The person was asking about the mortality rate and we were told so far it is a really small mortality rate as compared to total confirmed cases, but if they are keeping track of all the confirmed cases till either a person recovers or dies, then when we look at just the recovered VS dead, the mortality rate seems much higher.

Right now from the link below the total number of dead = 171

Total number of recovered = 143

If those are the only two results (either recovered or dead), then why wouldnt the Mortality Rate be more like 50% mortality rate?

The only thing I can think of is of the 8,235 confirmed cases right now, some people must be recovering and are not tracked till the end or maybe they are still sick ?

It does seem like people get really sick from this so maybe it takes a long time to get well so maybe they are still monitoring a lot of the 8,000 people.

IMO, I think getting this virus would be really bad just from being sick with it, even if you dont perish. It sounds pretty bad and from some of the pictures of the ill in the hospital some of them look very ill so getting sick with it seems pretty bad to me.

and so it begins...

At least 21 people are currently under investigation for potential coronavirus exposure after a second person tested positive in Illinois.

21 People Under Investigation for Coronavirus in Illinois: Health Officials

OK, I'll MOO, but I noticed that CDC stats no longer covers PUI that are contacts from known folks. Notice the symbol at the top from Monday to Wednesday? It says on the most recent ones that it excludes PUI's from known contacts. So we may see the 21 under investigation from Illinois on this post, but not in CDC stats?

Good catch. I've been watching the market too. I think it will bounce back from a 200 point drop when it's understood this is one case, spread to an intimate within a household, and both are currently in the hospital, not out wandering the streets of Chicago eating McDonalds and sneezing on crowds.

Dunno about the Chinese stock market as they have been closed in China since last Thursday, won't open until tomorrow after a week of shut down. And on top of that, the government has extended the week long holiday iirc.

I really cannot fathom that this new virus is going to be contained long term. Shutting down for the holidays for another few days? After their market opens on Firday? Just cannot fathom if/when it will be, although they all over the world are trying!
