My husband and I had our 2nd shot of Moderna yesterday morning. Hubby went straight home afterwards and prepared for side effects. I decided to run errands and come home if I felt ill.

Surprisingly, last night before bed we still hadn’t felt any side effects from the 2nd dose other than a slightly sore arm.

My opinion, from both family and friends, is that Pfizer vaccine has more side effects than Moderna.

But today? I actually feel okay. Better than I have since Covid. I actually did things today. I feel quite giddy, honestly.
Nonetheless, when I get the second shot, I shall have the fridge stocked, and the week off work.

I'm very curious how you do after the second b/c everyone I know who had Covid had a harder time with the first shot and basically no issues with the second (so the reverse of most who did not have Covid).

I know that's held true for what most of my friends in the medical field were seeing, and there are starting to be more articles indicating that continues to be the case. But it's always interesting to continue to hear anecdotal info from others!

I'm wondering how important it is to answer the CDC questions daily.

I'm sending out the STOP command today. Tired of the same old thing, and it's not like they care.

Respectfully, I had to chuckle at this, because the docs and nurses I work with were just discussing side effects and comparing Pfizer and Moderna. The consensus was that the Moderna vaccine had more side effects than Pfizer.

Quite a few of my coworkers had absolutely no side effects after doses 1 and 2 of Pfizer. Several had no side effects after the Moderna vaccines. But most of those who complained about side effects had received Moderna.

So really, either vaccine can produce no side effects, few side effects, or several side effects.

You are right, too many variables to keep track of...and the men I know, who had no side effects, got their shots at the VA, which had only Moderna.

Myself, and my female friends, all had Pfizer, from the county.

Who knows?

Although, I do know that I had some unpleasant side effects, definitely not "psychosomatic".

It will be interesting to see how those who get the J&J vaccine report side effects. I haven’t spoken with anyone yet who has received that vaccine.

Coronavirus COVID-19 - Global Health Pandemic #93

IIRC, I got it for 7 days

They have sent me the same questions, which I've answered, DAILY for over 30 days now. As I get no feedback, I think it's time for me to bow out. I could see this going on all summer long, and it was irksome to contemplate, so I've stopped feeding them info. It's a relief after so long.

I have no clue if my husband is filling the things out or messaged STOP about a week in, but as busy as he is 12 hours a day with work 7 days a week, I seriously doubt he put up with the same questions for many hours or days, LOL He had Pfizer, and 0 side effects to Vaccine #1. He also never had the Covid virus, which I think makes a significant difference.

Has anyone else noticed that if you got one brand vaccine, and your spouse was scheduled for another day, they got another brand of vaccine? I've been reading, and it seems to be that households are being split on purpose, likely research, with 2 people from the same environment getting 2 different brands or maybe even types of vaccine. It also could be the shipping schedules, but if that's true, then how do they magically have our second doses from the same company as the first dose?

Some things to think about.

Perhaps the reason that I got only 7 days is because I had no symptoms post vaccine? Would make sense if folks continued to have symptoms to continue the texts. Perhaps you have a different text as mine only has 4 screens to say yes/no & click on symptoms... and took 15 seconds to do when I got them (I did a post of the questions the first day). As to different households - I believe it's due to coordination and shipping schedules. The logistics were set up to ensure that the second dosages would follow at the appropriate time and "held back" so to speak to ensure they "magically" have the second dosages. That was one of the highlights from day 1 of the explanation of Warp Speed IIRC.

I had my second Moderna vaccine on Tues, the 23rd. It packed a punch! A few hours after arriving home, I sat down and fell asleep for 3 hours. Still didn't think it was as much a reaction as I was prepared for. By late in evening, I started having a low grade fever. Normaly I run around 97.5 - for next 36 hours was up and down, never above 100. However, I really felt it. Had scheduled the day after vaccine off work and happy I did, as I slept most of the day. By second morning I had "Covid (vaccine) arm" - an angry, red, swollen, hot and very itchy injection site. To begin with, I could cover the area with my palm, by 3rd day my entire hand didn't cover the redness and area. This area grew for 3 days before beginning to subside. I did work on Thursday and Friday, but the minute I clocked out, I had to nap - long naps both afternoons.
Happy it's over and in past, definitely a reaction, but feel so blessed it wasn't full blown COVID. Hoping this provides me some protection from full onslaught if I do contact Covid.

So, hubby and I got our second shot of Moderna on Saturday at 10am. We both felt good all day and into the night, even slept well

Yesterday was a bit chilly and rainy outside but we stayed in anyway. After I posted my update here, all of a sudden I could not warm up, had body aches, chills and strangely my feet were freezing no matter how many socks and blankets I had on. Both of us slept on and off the rest of the day and had a low grade fever.

This morning we woke up and feel fine.

I was surprised it took 24 hours for symptoms to start post-vaccine. The nurse told us we’d feel symptoms 8-10 hours after the vaccine and would have felt better by yesterday.

Happy that it is over!

So interesting. The percentage of side effects is just about what we have seen from our very unofficial, unscientific polling in our clinics among healthcare providers and nurses, plus the patient we have asked about symptoms after their vaccinations.

Moderna 46% side effects
Pfizer 36% side effects

I've heard just the opposite. Side effects or no, I'm glad that so many people are getting the vaccine. Best way to get this pandemic under control.
