Could JB turn in his license?

I'm sure JB isn't a tax attorney so I don't see how he is involved with ICA's tax problems. The scope of his representation is probably limited to defending the criminal case.

When Casey was spending 8+ hours daily at JB's office, I don't think they were "working" on her case all that time. I suspect that there was some other "work" being done away from the prying eyes of Jose's staff. I'm sure you get my drift ;) Remember how Casey was dressed when she'd leave her house each morning? Need I say more?

Anyhoo, if there was a "relationship" going on behind closed doors, it was most likely consensual, but Casey will turn the tables on JB and accuse him of "inappropriate conduct". jmo

I've never heard of someone spending all that time at their lawyers. It seems quite excessive .... I get your drift!!

I'm going to have to disagree - income is taxable, it's that simple. He should have known that it was taxable and advised her of that, but it was not in his best interest financially to do so.

$200,000 income less $68,000 in taxes = ONLY $132,000 for JB. He knew this was likely the only money he was going to get. It seems like a convenient lapse in memory to forget to mention that the income is taxable.

I can name several high profile lawyers who no longer practice law, only show up to comment (on tv, of course) on highly publicized cases, i.e., Geraldo Rivera. They find their niche out of the courtroom.

Maybe he will be Telemundo's Geraldo Rivera:floorlaugh:

MOO, but if Casey was given $200,000 for pics/videos, etc. it was her responsibility to pay the taxes on that money within whatever quarter of the year she received it. I know with investment monies received, they have to be paid that quarter of the year if the tax amount is $500 or more in my state. I am liable for any amount of money received that the tax has not been taken out and sent into the state.

I think he will give it up, in order to write a book on his info..

BBM

Why would they file charges with the Bar? Lawyers can't be tried for allegations they makes during a trial.

So, the average citizen can be sued if they make a baseless comment about someone else, but an attorney can say anything they want...ruin someone's life, but there's no recourse? Our court system is broken.

To be disbarred is very difficult, except in cases of mismanagement of funds.

I'll bet the farm that the Anthony family know more about the deal for pics that was brokered with ABC, and maybe more.

Once the trial is over and the A's spill their guts re the $$$$ (including ICA), then I think JB is toast as an attorney, not that anyone would hire him now.

He will likely go to work for Fox News as a talking head.

Just about anyone can earn a law degree... passing the bar is a whole other issue.

I hope that JB no longer will be able to practice law...and practice is surely what he lacks, along with some ethics. He was never qualified to take on this case, but he couldn't resist the lure of fame. He is a camera hog - turns his head toward the camera and puffs out his chest while at the bench with HHJP and the other attys. Look at me, I"m on TV. His extremely rude, sarcastic and snarly behavior when interrogating state witnesses should earn him code of conduct complaints filed with the Florida Bar. I cannot imagine having to face someone like him in a courtroom.
IMHO

ITA....I am so very disappointed in this....It saddens me that you can be a witness and have everything thrown at you and yet the actual defendent is clean as a whistle....it isn't fair or right....

I also want to point out---jb wasn't all that concerned about the jail tapes as he was about all the shanigans that the a's mentioned--it was about HIM and what it would do to HIM.....not the inmate---but HIM--they truly deserve each other....

I wouldn't believe anything that he would write if he were to write a book. It would be how he would twist it.....not the truth. If the truth were really known, I feel there would be real legal problems for Baez.

Baez would never voluntarily surrender his law license but I do hope it is taken from him and he is disbarred (much like Todd Mac :loser:)...He still hasn't changed his ways since being held back 8 long years...unethical behavior, money mismanagement, unpaid child support, lack of respect for the legal system....JMHO

His overall behavior, they wrote, showed "a total lack of respect for the rights of others and a total lack of respect for the legal system, which is absolutely inconsistent with the character and fitness qualities required of those seeking to be afforded the highest position of trust and confidence recognized by our system of law."

IMO, Jose will try to wash his hands of Casey as soon as he can after this trial is over. I believe he thought this was going to be his cash cow and would rocket him to lawyerly "stardom" ala Johnnie Cochrun-and things just haven't gone his way. I think after this she's going to be more trouble than she's worth to him, and I think we already saw signs of that during jury selection. To me, he looked done. I also believe that once he cuts off contact with her out of spite ICA will then turn on him and try to ruin whatever she can manage to ruin in his life. IMO that "spiteful *****" comment she made applies to her relationship with everyone once they quit being useful to her and she drops her fakey fake "Honey, I know, absolutely" type of nonsense, not just her parents.

He may not mind now when he's safely not the target of her spite, but I think the minute his attention dries up she is going to pitch a fit. Inappropriate conduct allegations from ICA would not surprise me in the least, although if any "misconduct" occured in THAT way I do believe it was equally pursued on both sides(still doesn't make it appropriate OR wise in my eyes)...JMO of course.

Those allegations of inappropriate conduct will be pretty hard to prove, IMO. Don't think that will wash with the FL bar. Ineffective counsel may not, either, since he has a few other lawyers on the team who are more qualified, and could have been assisting with questioning. That he didn't allow them to is not going to be a major point... it just shows he made a stupid mistake. Casey can make all the allegations she wants to, I don't think the Bar is going to take her complaints too seriously, IMO.
I recall another bar complaint recently against a lawyer in another case and that didn't work out too well, either, that lawyer wasn't hurt a bit and is still practicing law, AFAIK.
