Cracked Crab...Priscilla White....Strange??

I have always felt the only reason the Ramsey's brought up the cracked crab was because after they killed her they realized she had eaten the pineapple at home and they feared it would be discovered upon her autopsy. They needed the investigators to believe they carried her up to bed asleep, and never saw her alive again. Not knowing the pineapple in her stomach could be broken down and identified forensically, they knew cracked crab would resemble pineapple in the stomach, so they had to make LE think cracked crab was the last thing she ate.

Hmm, I'm not sure that is the way things went down. There is no evidence (even rumors) that says the Ramsey parents had any knowledge of digestive physiology.

Many folks have beliefs about digestion, but very few know the mechanics of it. Do you know that most vegetables and fruit leave the stomach before meat? Not because meat is harder to digest, but because vegetables and fruit are harder to digest in the stomach. Any fibrous veg and fruit can not be digested by stomach acid very well. It passes on to the duodenum (upper intestine) and continues the digestive process from there.

Meat is almost fully broken up by stomach acids. Which is why it stays in the stomach longer.

The pineapple in JonBenet's belly can tell us something about her time of death.

It doesn't have anything to do with the Ramseys knowing anything about the digestive process. They knew JonBenet had just eaten pineapple, obviously it would be in her stomach, and they had to come up with an explanation.......it was the cracked crab from the White's Christmas party.

There was no "they". John had nothing to do with any of it.

I don't think John had a clue what had really happened when Patsy first showed him the ransom note. He is a smart man and it didn't take him long to figure it out. I believe after he was gone from the rest of the group for a time on the morning of the 26th, and came back and sat alone and thought was when he decided he was going to help cover it up.

John asked Priscilla to save a plate out of Cracked Crab for JB, so obviously she didn't have a food allergy to it....then he thought it was "strange" that she saved out a plate of cracked crab for JB. HUH???

I Hv forgotten who is Priscilla and did she Hv a child who competed against JBR?

she is Fleet White's wife. their daughter was JB's best friend/classmate (not involved in pageants)

I think he found the body before 11 am. and kept quiet not wanting to go there, there being Patsy. At the risk of somebody else finding the body after Arndt's directive he went into victim mode, not cover for Patsy mode. IMO, he self deluded at that point and got better at that as time went on. Safe harbor among the believers.

IMO they acknowledged the crab because they (correctly) assumed that LE would be asking about JB's actions that evening, and also because not a whole lot of young children count "cracked crab" among their favorite food choices. goes along with PR's wish that JB would be America's princess like Diana was Britain's princess. a beautiful young princess who loved crab, excuse me, cracked crab and died on Christmas Day. quite the starry-eyed legacy

I understand what you are saying only because most people don't understand the digestive process. But I don't think that the Ramseys were that uninformed about forensics and such that they wouldn't have known that an autopsy would reveal the nature of the food their daughter had ingested.

Guys, you're forgetting the obvious....

When did PR "admit" that The White's served cracked crab, and it was JRBs favorite, and a plate was made especially for her???????????

Not before April '97, right? Well what happened prior to April '97?

The defense team was GIVEN case file information by the DA....

Therefore, they knew about the pineapple, b/c it was in the files that she ate pineapple just prior to the head blow, and it was even concluded to be the exact same fresh pineapple from the Rs fridge.

She didn't need any prior knowledge of digestive times, b/c the always accommodating DA gave them the info, and ta da "I don't know 'nothing 'bout no pineapple, but she sure did love cracked crab!"

i would be stranger is PW didn't save some cracked crab for JB as it was her favourite. but yup, even the most innocent acts or any kindness become suspicious and a good excuse to suggest IDI

If they were inferring JonBenet might have been poisoned by the crab and were doing so in an attempt to redirect guilt, they obviously were not thinking about an autopsy at all. It's not that hard to tell if someone has been poisoned.

The most logical idea to me, regardless of the level of the involvement of the Ramseys, is that they simply did not think the pineapple was relevant. It wasn't used to kill her. It would have been the last thing on their minds. If they were involved in her death, I could see them not even imagining an autopsy would be done, especially on such a young child - it's not where everyone's mind goes, which is why some people think poisonings won't be found out and then get caught. If they staged it, they could have thought "oh how awful, some sexual predator clearly strangled her" and not expected a full autopsy since it didn't suggest an internal cause and any evidence could be collected without one.

Or, they figured an autopsy would happen, but their minds never went to the stomach contents and what type of value that would hold, since they would have been concerned about what her head injuries would reveal. Plus I doubt most people have a great understanding of how they can tell timing from stomach contents - they could think it was all digested by then.

There was no "they" at any point.

Patsy fed JonBenet happiness/pineapple well after John and Burke went nighty night and then killed her 30 minutes or so later.

Cracked crab. Suspicious? Yes, what is suspicious is how the Rs moved to throw the Whites under the bus and even used the fact some crab was put aside for JBR to infer something hinky was afoot. I mean, come ON. Priscilla kindly puts a small plate aside bc she knows your child, knows the child adores seafood, and assumes the adults will gobble up that crab! How odd. How hinky. The Rs would try to make the most innocent act look dirty. That is what makes me lose my sympathy for them.
