Crime scene information

Jess, that image is from 2-3 years ago.

I know that, golfmom. So you think all the trees surrounding where the driveway meets the road in this photo:

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y288/Golfmom/snap0001.jpg

were planted in the last 3 years? And the "L" shaped sidewalk in front of the house (on the aerial photo) was ripped up and this one was put in since 2002:

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y288/Golfmom/snap0007.jpg

Look at this Terrasearch photo, with the red dot on 2600 Cohnwood Drive:

http://www.terraserver.microsoft.com/image.aspx?T=4&S=9&Z=17&X=6824&Y=39902&W=1&qs=2600+Cohnwood+Drive%7cdurham%7cnorth+carolina%7c&Addr=2600+Cohnwood+Dr%2c+Durham%2c+NC+27705&ALon=-78.9762070&ALat=36.0400088

Look at the property underneath where the white car is (the last one on that street, on the south side) and tell me that property is not configured much more closely to NCbanker's photos of the Abaroa house. Or am I going crazy??

On a different topic, there's been some discussion of the french doors vs. the "side door." If this picture was taken at the Abaroa house on Ferrand Drive (and we don't know for sure that it was, I guess):

http://www.echimera.net/upld/brightIMGA0416.jpg

the french doors would HAVE to lead to a back porch or patio area. As this photo illustrates, the infamous "side door" is a single door - not a french (double) door.

Jess, I really don't know!

This is not an area that I'm particularly strong in.

But, If you were looking from above couldn't the stairs and the little bit of sidewalk there look like an L ????

  • #184
I actually thought of that at first - but the stairs are made out of red brick. Both parts of the "L" shaped sidewalk appear white (cement) from the air and it appears to be continuous.

I think we're just going to have to wait on NCBanker to clear this up. I can honestly see your points.

In the photos on the porch, the background matches where we think the house is. Misterallgood also confirmed that the house that we're looking at is the house in question. Finally, NCBanker was at the house. Maybe NCBanker can give us the final say on which house it is.

I wonder if part of the walkway could have been pulled up; tree roots or something pushing the concrete up. NCBanker ... help! :)

Maybe he went back to try on the shoes?

I can see him over in the wrong thread! :slap:

Yoohoo we need you over here!

I've spent most of the past two days reading all these threads, so forgive me for prattling on - this case just sucks. It's unfathomable to me why it's not getting more media attention.

I noticed on the search warrant, that swabbings were taken from the "interior" of the side door (on the side door's storm door, I think). I had it in my mind that blood was found on the OUTSIDE of the side door, but I don't remember exactly where that information came from. It would make more sense that the blood would be on the interior of the storm door - if the killer pushed it open on his way out of the house. Is it confirmed from LE which side of the door had the blood on it?

OK. I'm back. Sorry for the hiatus. Took the wife and kids to the park, then mowed the lawn.

The house in Raven's photos is the same as the one I visited. Are there any other specific questions, relative to the house? I may not be on for long.

But which house is it on the sat. photos?

Hey Ncbanker! I've been reviewing your (excellent) photos and I'm having a hard time matching up the configuration of the property with what we've all been looking at as the Abaroa house in the satellite images.

My post #180 on this thread details some of the discrepancies I'm seeing.

Jess, we have confirmation that the house is at the second driveway past the bend on the right hand side.

The original house that we were working off of.

Just as a general note, it appears the the owner has now listed 2606 Ferrand for sale. Would indicate to me that LE has all the information they need from the property (I would hope so anyway! Yikes, if I bought that house, then one day LE came knocking, etc......YIKES!)

Anyway, the listing give some details-- price ($158,900), # of rooms, sizes, etc.

If the link below does not work for some reason, simply go to realtor.com, and search MLS# 807364

Wow! I bet it's probably not a good investment as a rental now, with it being in the news as a murder scene. I wonder what information a chatty realtor might provide.

It occurs to me, and someone wiser and with more experience in these matters please jump in, that we were told by Rooster that the house was released by LE as a crime scene not long after the funeral.... Now the owner has listed the house for sale.

IF, LE had NO suspect(s) in this case, would they in fact have cleared the house so quickly, or, allow the owner to list the house for sale? Wouldn't there be a chance, if they had no one as a POI, that they might in fact need access to the property at any ol' time?

I think back to the Michael Peterson case in Durham. He lived in the house where he killed Kathleen. And continued to do so, throughout the investigation and the trial. In that case, once the trial began, as I recall the jury was even taken to the house at one point, to look around, etc. Even though MP was living in the house, etc., I would find it hard to believe that LE, courts, someone, would have allowed him to put the property up for sale during that time. (Of course, in that case, a lien on the house was used to secure bail.)

Thoughts anyone?

JMHO, and maybe some wishful thinking thrown in, I think LE got everything they needed from the crime scene and are just waiting for those results.

Why else would they release this property?

Here's a link to a video about the e-mails that LE is looking into. When you watch the video, pause it at the spot where you see the blue UNC Tarheels flag hanging from the porch. Can anyone tell me what part of the house that is?

Also, look at the shots of the street - it doesn't seem like things are as far away from each other as I originally thought.
I don't know what part of the house it was, but it looks like a front porch type area.

You're right, the houses don't look all that far apart.
