Criminal Defense Attorney for Casey - Linda Kenney Baden

  • #201
I think the NY trip was to be in early November, at the last hearing I remember them asking for more time and HHJP said no!

BBM - I'm sure it is all of the above!

Yes, of course Nums24 - I was remembering the last hearing but I only took notes about the important stuff. When Baez was swanning off to New York again just didn't didn't sink into the leetle gray cells.

And speaking of the full moon - never hang your towel rods onto ceramic tile in the bathroom during a full moon. I measured four times and oh glory! 1/4 inch off and it looks like a foot.:banghead:

Weren't Baez and Mason recently in New York? I wonder what kind of dustup happened there that we don't know about..LBK has had lots of time to withdraw - why now?

Does she feel like she can't work with Ann Finnell? Is she annoyed Baez asked the JAC for expenses for Ann and not for her? Is she frustrated beyond belief about working with Mason?

Is there even more damning evidence behind the scene we don't yet know about?
OR - did she go and have her cards read and did her psychic ask her if she was completely nuts staying on this case?:waitasec:

bbm. This one gets my FIRST vote, but ALL of the above choices work too!

"Bear in mind" (props to HHJP), Ms. Baden has a reputation she wants to uphold. She's had her "questionable moments" in court, but overall this is one very sharp, educated lawyer. She LOVES to nail experts in forensic cross examination. She LOVES to "get 'em", so to speak. When there are indeed "holes" in evidence/testimony, etc. she pounces like a tiger. I have seen her during a trial (many moons ago) and she was ON IT. Impressive stuff. This case is different, though. I just could not imagine her intellectually pouncing on the forensics here. JMO, but I think she couldn't find a weak toehold and she couldn't find evidence of contamination. There was no "meat on the bone" for her. Off to greener pastures (?) and another not-as-lopsided case. Plus, you can't put a pricetag on a professional reputation in this arena. When it's POOF, it's really POOF.

JMO....

Per the last news item Nums24 posted on the previous page - the article says LBK will be staying on as a Consultant and with appear from time to time during the trial??? WTH get off the fence LBK (Sorry N24, for some reason it wouldn't let me copy/paste)

Oh yes, there is also what sounds like a polite rant about non-payment for expenses tucked into her withdrawal motion - so I guess it is about the big bucks or lack of them.:banghead:

Casey Anthony attorney Linda Kenney Baden leaves defense team

By Anthony Colarossi, Orlando Sentinel
5:38 p.m. EDT, October 22, 2010

~ Snipped ~

The New York City based attorney cited financial reasons for her departure and state rules surrounding Casey Anthony being declared indigent for costs in the murder case.

She noted that the defense team must comply with Justice Administration Commission rules in this case.

"As out of state counsel I have been traveling to Florida and elsewhere to properly represent Ms. Anthony," she wrote in her motion. But, she added, it is her "understanding that the JAC prohibits payment of such costs to out of state attorneys even though they have rendered and are rendering their services free of charge."

Kenney Baden goes on to say she cannot continue representing Casey Anthony "in the absence of substantial funds to cover the costs of travel and reimbursement for expenses, which she anticipates will increase as trial approaches…"

Whoa! Maybe I should declare my boredom more often (see Pontiac odor thread)! Woot woot

  • #206
Has anyone notified a mod that the news thread is locked up?
Also, I think we need a color coded chart so we know who's on and who's off the case. :propeller:

Does this mean he will have to re-do all his excel colour charts?

Oh the gnashing of teeth that must be going on at De Casa Baez!

"I believe in the client's innocence to the charges and do not wish personally or professionally to withdraw from this case," she wrote.

How do all these people on her team who managed to pass the bar exam claim to believe her innocence, but lots of other people can see right through her story? Is it because they have privileged inside information? If so, why don't they just tell the world so she can go free? Or, wait, are they just full of bologna?

I wonder if the latest shenanigans of J Lyons was "the last straw" for LKB. This defense has stupidity almost daily screaming via the media. This may have been her safe out, before being charged with anything, being part of the Circus of Anthony. Run while you can!

  • #209
What a shock, NOT! She never would have paid her own expenses to work for Casey & we know Baez has no money left to pay her either, lol.

Casey Anthony and her Revolving Door of Private Attorneys.

After the newest Florida based lawyers came on board I was waiting for either Baden or Mason or both to leave this case.

At the last Sept 27th Status Hearing - Baez said him and Mason were flying to New York to meet with LKBaden the next week.

BBM Could this be a cause for appeal later on- that the big bad JAC refused to reimburse her travel and expenses, especially since she says she "has worked hundreds of hours on the case." :boohoo:

You know Andrea Lyon said the same thing as she left. Think we'll ever see her again? (Wouldn't they have to have the court's permission to pop back on the case?)

I did a quick color chart with the assistance of posters over at IS. (I actually forgot Mason and the 2 from Baez's office.)

12? 12 Lawyers, that is a disgrace. Unfreakingbelieveable!

I think it's 13!! Lol. How is this defensible in any way? It is SO obvious these people are wanting fame and blood money. That's it. Why do we have out of state lawyers anyway? Is the Bar Association ok with their vaunted profession being mocked and being made into a stereotype by these sickos?

I remember one specific nasty diatribe from him way back about Jessie Grund.

Something to the effect that when we see the info he found on him, we'll see he's not such a nice guy. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Another quote from him:

"She's a remarkable young woman in the sense that ... the best way I could describe her is she's a steel magnolia," said Michael Walsh, a member of her defense team. "No matter what anybody thinks, Casey Anthony is adamant. She did no harm to her daughter. She believes her daughter is alive. She believes her daughter's going to be found alive and well."

At the March 18, 2010 Indigency Hearing- JB told Judge S. : "any lawyers being paid a fee - only Baez and Lyon - noone else paid anything
Linda Kenney Baden - not paid - kind enough to do pro bono - come from NY"

LKB said: "Baden - I can rep to court - I rescinded retainer agreement - work pro bono now, never paid anyway"

State asked about Baden - any conv publishers, producers, photographers? - Baden said "No"
no future deals, interviews

She had a Retainer Agreement? but was never paid.
