Criminal Defense Attorney for Casey - Linda Kenney Baden

Not sure if this woman has been discussed much here, but I came across this vid this morning.

Boy, she sure seems pushy . She might get somewhere with that personality in New York but Orlando is closer to Mayberry RFD, lol.
She even said the judge needs to be educated on the law!

I'll bet KC really likes her cause she's tough but IMO, LKB will agitate the good ol' jurors bigtime. You think?

Her abrasive voice and fast talking surely grate on my sensitive southern ears. :p I have no doubt unless she changes her manner of speaking she will turn off most of the jurors

  • #83
It is painful to listen to her speak. I think she manages to aggravate people all over the country! As a Northerner living in the South, I can attest to that!

She want to "educate" the judge, the jury, the prosecutors, etc., etc.... problem is, she speaks so fast and loud, a lot of what she says goes in one ear and out the other.

I think juries have learned to be suspicious of high profile hired guns .
She is pretty unlikeable and think she alienates juries .

Lets see if she is still around at trial - I suspect the money is going to dry
up and the dream team will be severely thinned out .

KC is never going to be able to get past 31 days ..........

JB can assemble as massive a defense team as he wants-BUT-if he forgets to get a charasmatic Johnny Cochran type spin doctor they don't have a snowballs chance with what the state has on KC!! Charisma and LKB are def strangers! IMO:D

I used to be an avid Fox News Natonal watcher. I tuned in Greta every night. She has a lot of talent and knows how to get the answers in subtle way. I also had a lot of respect for Dr. Baden when he would appear on Greta's show. But then Fox went over board with all the politics. However, I did watched the Spector trial and she was a complete turnoff. Hopefully, eventually there will be justice in that case. Maybe her approach works in well in California, but I don't think that it necessary does here. Not only that but what makes a person from California come into Florida and act like a know it all? Please, she is going to educate? She makes it sound if though Florida forensic scentist are not educated. I would think that this could be taken as an insult. No, she won't do well down here. Not with the prosecutors, not with LE and certainly not with the jury. IMO

LKB is an extremely pushy and arrogant woman...imo..

And she has a marked style. Notice how she talks fast in the courtroom and slows down for the reporters.

She will look for weaknesses in witness testimony and drill question after question until she elicits some response that she can twist and turn and confuse the jury with.

She has been doing this for years and she's good at it. Her job is to confuse the jury to a point where they will disregard the forensics. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

It worked in the Phil S trial last year, remember..?

The prosecutors really need to be on their toes with the forensics. And the lab techs should be well prepared by the State. Her goal is to make them all look like fools.

All my opinion, of course.

Having said that....I cannot stand the woman!

Can anyone figure out why LKB's husband, famed pathologist Dr. Michael Baden, has been very outspoken in terms of the forensic evidence favoring the prosecution's case....yet his own wife is a member of the defense team and proclaims KC's innocence? It just seems like a very awkward conflict of interest if you ask me....

Whoa! I just listened to her:razz: She is a real Barracuda, & that's why she's on this case, to discredit the Prosecution's handling of evidence, & to spin anything 6 ways to Sunday, just as she did in the Phil Spector trial. Let her be abrasive & brash, the jury in Flori-duh will not embrace her.

It makes me sick that KC even has the benefit of these high-price spin doctors, when her pocketbook should only afford her a Public Defender!

I believe the theme for the defense is going to be INCOMPETENCE. From arresting KC on a "whim" to incompetant investigation, incompetant LE (the police officer, RC who answered RK's call was just depo'd), incompetant forensics, etc. The defense has nothing else-KC's story has more holes than swiss cheese. However, the defense themselves have some pretty incompetant and unlikable characters on their team. They need someone who has experience and can SELL the defense theory. Maybe someone like Mike Iglarsh who is on HLN alot.
Think about it-would you buy anything from JB or LKB?

if this is ever made into a movie I think Al Pacino should play LKB

So glad this thread was started. When I saw her speak, after the hearing, I immediately thought uh oh, this woman is TRULY offensive. Her statement about "educating the judge" was arrogant, incredibly so, IMO. Southerners appreciate a certain level of grace and dignity, loud and obnoxious is going to get her nowhere fast. She sounded like she was going to have to enlighten these poor, uneducated, southern people and I can't think of a worse way to present yourself than that. Maybe if we're lucky, she will not change a thing and it will work in the states favor, come trial time.

Not that I'm a fan of LKB, but (IMO) I didn't think she was abrasive or brash with the press. I think she stopped the news reporter from railroading her with 20 questions at once and then explained the issue quite clearly. I don't think she was attempting to sound omnipotent, rather just trying to explain that it is a rare occurrence to ask for those bench notes and not all parties might be familiar with them or the process.

I thought she was firm and professional. Then again, I'm one of those transplanted northerners who probably aggravates my neighbors.

Oh, I did fail to mention, however, that I did find her jacket somewhat loud and offensive. Yikes!

I've had to hit the delete button a couple times now after writing the thoughts that come to mind about LKB :Banane37: but, since my memory serves me correctly...I'd rather not run the risk of the Mods misinterpreting my thoughts and thinking I'm asking for them to :ban me:....so, I'm gonna keep those delicious thoughts all to myself!

Except, I will say the movie, "The Graduate" does come to mind...and a song by, "Heart", too.

I'm will be a good WS'r, I will be a good WS'r, I will be a good WS'r...

I didn't realize that he had changed his tune. I haven't watched Fox News for a while, but I didn't think he had turned in that direction. Do you have a link?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/6982745.stm

(quotes from article)
The defence lawyer accused the prosecution of putting on a "stage-show" trial to cover up the lack of scientific evidence.

"Cute jokes, tall tales, theatrics, what ifs, possibilities, embellishments, speculation and salacious scandal fit only for gossip rags, replaces the lack of forensic evidence," she said.
